《VRMMO: The Unrivaled》Chapter 780: Battle of Black Sea

"Look! The enemy also has a Dragon God Warship!" Beiming Xue pointed to the distance, and she was correct. There was a warship covered in craggy dark red armor tanking a bunch of cannonballs from our side and looking no worse for wear. It was clear how tanky the warship was.
I immediately ordered, "Get close to that ship and prepare for boarding! Fighters, summon your mounts and get ready to charge the moment we make contact! We’re going to slaughter every last one of them!"
He Yi blinked once as she commented, "Look, that ship is sailing toward us as well. They must be led by a Famous General, or they wouldn’t dare make such a risky maneuver."
"Mn."
……
The enemy’s warship was charging directly at us, and we to them. As the distance between us grew shorter and shorter, Beiming Xue raised her Dragonbone String and shouted right before the ships entered the archer’s range, "Get ready! Let’s start with Spiraling Arrow Blades and Volleys first!"
He Yi also shouted, "Knights, raise shields!"
The archers and mages obeyed the order at once, and countless arrows and spells took to the air. 50% of them missed and landed in the water, and about 25% of them bounced off the enemy’s shields.
Almost at the same time, the enemy’s arrows and spells hit our magic knights and burned their shields bright red.
……
We were getting closer and closer. There was only 20 yards of space between our two ships now!
Riding atop her mount, our beautiful guild leader rode to the edge of the deck and launched Purgatory of Ice and Magma. Five waves of devastating sword energy instantly sliced through the air!
Bang bang bang...
The enemy’s magic knights tilted their shields and imbued it with the golden energy of Holy Shield. Even then, the skill had deleted almost half of their HP.
It was my turn. I leaped up to He Yi’s side and raised my palm toward the sky. The next moment, Ancient Seal crashed down exactly at the spot I was aiming!
Boom!
The golden seal seeped into the deck’s boards and scalded the poor magic knights. At least dozens of people were one-shot where they stood.
"Fuck! They have a Divine General! It’s that Broken Halberd Sinks Into Sand!!" someone roared on top of their lungs in fury. It looked like they hadn’t expected this encounter at all.
As our two ships sailed past each other, I grabbed my sword tighter and shouted, "Get on the ship now! Destroy their Dragon God Warship!"
Chiang chiang chiang…
Hundreds of elite Dragonlight Cavalrymen unsheathed their weapons and prepared for battle. They were all imbued by Martial God or Royal Road.
I backed a few steps before charging toward the edge. At the last moment, I jumped into the air—the Armored Ice Qilin Horse was an Earth Rank Boss mount, so it possessed incredible jumping power—cleared the 10 yards of empty space with ease and landed firmly on the enemy’s deck. At the same time, I activated Great Earth Transformation to protect myself and stomped the floor with War Crush, one-shotting a group of players instantly.

"Shit! Get him off the ship now!"
At an elevated position on the ship, a high-level mage stared at me with steely eyes and waved his staff menacingly at me. He was imbuing his party with "Soul General", a stratagem that increased all Magic Attack by 100%. Almost a hundred mages chanted their spells in unison and dropped innumerable Galaxy Storms on top of my head. It was terrifying to say the least!
I zigzagged twice and managed to move away from the center of the magical storm. As I fired Burning Blade Slash at a group of players, I forced my way closer to the mage party and activated Ancient Seal five times in a row regardless of the cost. Bloodcurdling screams filled the air the next moment. Ancient Seal already did an incredible amount of damage, but its power was boosted even further by Martial God, so not even shielded mages could survive it! Barring those with exceptional HP and Magic Attack, all the mages that were hit by the Ancient Seals dropped like flies! The Ancient Seal was the nightmare incarnate of all low-health classes!
My attack cost me 5 Divine Energy Points, but it bought me an incredible advantage. Alone but not powerless, I fought my way to the center of the Dragon God Warship and immobilized the mage with Soul General with God Binding Art. The mage’s Magic Shield had been shattered by my Ancient Seal, and he was unable to summon another one for a short time. Not about to let the opening slip by, I fired a Dragon Slaying Slash straight at his torso!
Squelch!
31723!
Just like that, the pitiful mage was killed where he stood. The guy was unlucky, to be honest. Being part of the Dragon God Warship’s crew, the chances of him dying in this naval battle were in fact quite low. Unfortunately for him, his opponent was the command ship of Ancient Sword Dreaming Souls!
Behind me, I heard the Dragonlight Cavalry led by He Yi finally boarding the ship. They were able to hack through the enemies like wolves loosed into a herd of sheeps because the latter was mostly disabled by my five Ancient Seals. It barely took us any effort to sweep the rest of the army.
Moreover, the two ships were currently aligned parallel to each other, so our ranged players were able to unleash their firepower to their hearts’ content and lighten the load on our Dragonlight Cavalry even further. At the end of the skirmish, we were able to rout the enemy’s thousand-man party with nearly zero losses.
……
"We need to destroy this ship. It’s durability is too high, and if we leave it alone, it will only be taken over by another Northern Alliance party. It will continue to pose a threat to us until we destroy it," He Yi declared.
I nodded in agreement and suggested, "The Dragon God Warship is covered in draconic armor that is impenetrable by skills and magic, but it’s a different story if we destroy the ship from the inside."

"Good idea. Let’s do just that!"
"Okay!"
I rode into the hold of the ship, and just as I expected the interior was mostly made of unprotected wood. After ordering the Dragonlight Cavalry to get back to our ship, I exchanged a smile with He Yi before we fired Purgatory of Ice and Magma and Burning Blade Slash through the wood!
Boom boom boom!
The entire warship shuddered from the attack, and the next moment water started filling the bottom rapidly. Just as I thought, it didn’t take much effort to sink the ship at all if we attacked it from the inside.
"Time to run, Eve!" I said.
Chuckling together, we returned to the deck and leaped back to our ship.
The gigantic Dragon God Warship tilted sideways and slowly sank into the water. Soon, the sea engulfed it completely as if it never existed.
……
Back on the deck, Murong Mingyue praised us, "Well done! Let’s keep sniping the enemy’s Dragon God Warships and opening the way with AoE skills and Lu Chen’s Divine General Skills! Let’s see how many enemy Famous Generals we can kill today!"
I nodded and pointed my sword to the front. "See that? It looks like two ships are headed our way. Let’s lock our ships together with hooks and split up. I’ll attack the ship on the right, and Eve’ll attack the ship on the left. They’re not Dragon God Warships, so it shouldn’t be much trouble to take them down. Everyone, this is your chance to earn your Nation War contribution points."
The name "Battle of Black Sea" had already been generated on the system interface. This war was on a much smaller scale compared to the War of Dawn City, so naturally the reward wouldn’t be as great as last time. Still, something was better than nothing. (The Nation War reward is determined based on the number of casualties on both sides. The more enemies killed, the better the reward.)
The Dragon God Warship tilted slightly as countless hooks erupted from the sides and caught the two ships, dragging them toward us by force. Even before they got close, I was already firing Burning Blade Slash and Thousand Ice Slash to damage the enemies as much as possible. After that, I calculated the distance between our ships, cleared a 10-yard jump and landed steadily on the enemy deck again.
The fighters were surprised by my sudden arrival, but they recovered quickly. The next moment, I was hit by at least a dozen Barrier Breaks.
Thud thud thud...
The Armored Ice Qilin Horse moved several steps to the right and successfully avoided most of the attacks. At the same time, I swung my sword at the enemy and cut them with a sword energy that was several meters long. The distance would be longer if I were to use a spear, but it was still pretty good overall.
After that, I instakilled almost a hundred frontliners with War Crush and another Burning Blade Slash. I myself still had more than half of my HP.
The enemy’s counterattack was surprisingly fierce, and their attack power was boosted by 100% by a Level 156 tactician, which was just as good as that Famous General mage’s Soul General I had killed earlier. Even a Fireball left a painful mark on my skin.
I raised my palm and hit the mages and archers with three Ancient Seals, killing a large majority of them and scaring the shit out of the rest. There was practically no chance in hell these low-health players could survive my attack, so most of them dissolved into white light and flew back to the city.
……
After the enemies were sufficiently devastated, the Dragonlight Cavalry rushed up the decks and launched an organized assault with our ranged players, Beiming Xue and Moonlight Stone. This time, the vanguard we encountered were the Koreans of Burning City.
"Fuck! Kill that Divine General!" a Korean player shouted angrily only to be killed by Hoof Tramples and a storm of swords the next moment!
When the skirmish was more or less done, I ordered the Dragonlight Cavalry to return to our ship and pointed the Cyan Netherworld Sword at the deck. Burning Blade Slash + Thousand Ice combo later, the deck instantly exploded into smithereens. As it turned out, Divine Generals possessed improved destructive power, as evident by the gigantic hole I carved on the deck with just a simple two-skill combo. I could actually see the NPC sailors’ panicked faces from where I was as seawater started filling the hold.
I turned around and jumped back to the Dragon God Warship. That was another skirmish done, and the remaining 300+ Burning City players we didn’t bother to cut down were shot to death by our ranged players. A short while later, the warship sank into the sea and left behind pieces of broken wood. The few survivors were clinging onto planks and swearing at us with words we couldn’t understand.
On the other side of the ship, He Yi had also finished her battle.
……
Meanwhile, cannon fire was abundant on Snowy Cathaya’s side of the battlefield. Suddenly, a flaming sword of ice crashed down onto a ship and literally cut it in half!
Murong Mingyue goggled at the sight. "Holy shit, Beauty Lin is a goddamn brute!"
Beiming Xue shook her head, "All Divine Generals are like that…"
She was correct. On the other side, Li Chengfeng had also turned a ship into a beehive with three Dragonbone Flurries and sunk it.

What seems like an innocent game trope turns into a nightmare. This is a story of tragedy and the path to ultimate power. All in the hopes of an uncertain survival. _________ This fiction has NOT been abandoned. I made a haughty promise earlier to not worry because I'll continue this series, and with things lately, I've only proved myself a liar. Further promises dwindled, and I've lost trust. So many things have been going on recently that I've been booked. I will refrain from making any future guarantees or promises as my busy schedule will stay with me for a long long while. Time for me to actually spend on writing and revising won't appear until at the least November 19. I won't say expect that's when I'll restart, but you can expect expecting it to maybe happen. That's really shallow. But with everything going on, I've let my small reading base down. I apologize. I still stick by my statement though that I won't abandon this project. I plan to stick it to the end, no matter the delay. Most importantly, thank you everyone; readers who both like and dislike my work. I appreciate your time spent on my dumb imagination. Stay toasty my readers in this winter season. Cheers. UPDATE: We're back on track. Thank you for your patience. Any future readers, heyo! Glad you're here. UPDATE 2: So far it's been 21 days since I last uploaded a chapter. The best thing done for any fiction, no matter how good it is, is that it continues, and I have a bad history with that. 1 fiction on hiatus and already more delays with less than 20 chapters in this fiction. I've been very preoccupied with adding more things to do in my life rather than actually committing to any particular thing. That applies primarily to this. I cannot abandon this, as busy as my future looks and will look as I get busier and busier. Someday, I hope, I will be able to sit down and just write. just. write. But for now, I ask for patience. I suppose I'm glad this fiction hasn't picked up so that I don't disappoint too many people if any really. But I need to commit and it's going to happen sometime and sometime soon. No more flowery words. I'll see you later. UPDATE 3: It's very evident I won't be able to pick up this story for a while. With AP Testing, competitions, and other things I am busier than ever. But I must complete this fiction. I have too. Until next time. UPDATE 4: It is now the summer. I owe everyone an apology. Chances are, nobody's around to see this, and that is okay. I only blame myself for this sort of brokenness of a fiction, not that it is actually that bad but I am just exaggerating it for dramatic effect. But what's not exaggerated is the severity of my broken promise. I apologize for my naive claims about finishing a novel that I couldn't finish and that I didn't have the discipline to finish. Nor the skills, really, I was and am still an immature writer. What is to place now? I want to make it clear I understand this is my fault. I will man up to this. And I will accept any criticism. I understand I messed up. Reading Stephen King's On Writing made it clear to me that I need to do two things:Read lots. And write lots.I have done neither. If I don't have the time to read often, how do I expect to write? I need to become more experienced. I need to become a serious writer. So if I want to dream of continuing, I need to at least fulfill both requirements. I enjoy writing. I haven't written seriously outside of school in a while. I planned to write this summer and finish this. I made a lot of promises that I didn't keep.So there's that. I won't enact any self-pity, or be foolishly obsessed. What I did was wrong, and I must deal with it. I let down readers. And I apologize.I hope I can find forgiveness. This is a writer's sin.I won't promise I'll finish this. I intend to finish this, at some point, because writing is fun and I want to write. But how things are don't reflect that. Maybe I'll finish this at some point. Maybe I won't. I won't be naive to make that promise.I thank everyone who has read this if this is the end. If not, and hopefully not, I thank everyone who is to read future chapters. I thank everyone who allowed me to live in the miniscule little dream of mine as I passed my days. I thank everyone who cares enough to read this. Until next time, peace everyone. Thank you. You are all great readers and great people. I wish everyone the best in whatever reading/writing endeavors follow you henceforth.
