《VRMMO: The Unrivaled》Chapter 783: Ocean Storm

"The weather is about to change…"
Purple Marquis sighed while looking at the sky. "Damn, are we about to face an ocean storm?"
Zi Chuanyu said, "The weather of the sea is like a woman’s mood; liable to change at a moment’s notice. If this storm is a big one, forget us, even the ten thousand ships of Northern Alliance are going to sink!"
Stranger of Three Lifetimes waved her scepter at them and chided, "What are you doing? Less lamenting, more killing!"
Eyes Like Water also said, "Yeah, do you fancy yourself a scholar or something? I almost can’t believe you have the gall to remain a vice leader of Snowy Cathaya with contribution points like yours…"
Purple Marquis turned bright red. "I was busy devising strategies, so…"
Stranger of Three Lifetimes only smiled at him instead of answering, causing his face to turn even redder.
I was solidly in the first place since the start of this naval battle. With powerful skills like Ancient Seal and Burning Blade Slash, as well as the pet like the Phantom Wolf King stealth-killing the enemies non-stop, there was no reason I couldn’t take first place. Stranger of Three Lifetimes ranked second because she was the strongest mage of this war, and her Magic Attack was insane. Lin Yixin ranked third despite having restarted from Level 0 about a week ago because she was a Divine General with a ton of hidden attack power, and her Ice Flame Slash was a skill that struck fear into the hearts of all her enemies, capable of one-shotting entire groups of enemies each use. This was without mentioning that the Northern Alliance was still traumatized by the fact that the girl had one-shot over twenty million troops with a single tear. The mere sight of her caused heart attacks and weak-minded people to cower in fear.
……
Drip drip...
He Yi looked up when she felt rain water splashing against her cheeks. "This is definitely going to be a thunderstorm considering how thick the clouds are. We need to come up with a plan as soon as possible."
Not far away, Lin Yixin replied, "Sister Eve, I believe that it’s time we withdraw our main force. Our presence here had disrupted the flow of the wind and the water, so a great storm is bound to happen. We’ll die a horrible death if we get caught up in it."
He Yi asked, "But where should we withdraw to, Yiyi?"
Lin Yixin’s eyes flashed with cunning as she said, "We’ll leave 500 ships behind to keep the enemies busy and send 1000 ships to raid Burning City’s harbor. Without it, the Koreans won’t be able to hire more ships and replenish their numbers, and victory will belong to us!"
He Yi’s eyes lit up. "Oh, that’s a good idea! You’re so smart, Yiyi!"

Lin Yixin smiled sweetly from her ship. "You praise me too much…"
While I was keeping my silence at the sidelines, Murong Mingyue teased me and said, "Ai, they’re both gorgeous, aren’t they? You’d better speak the truth and only the truth from now on, or they’ll find out and send you packing…"
I grinned. "What are you talking about? I never lie."
……
A while later, I called over Li Chengfeng, Gui Guzi and Chaos Moon while Lin Yixin called Purple Marquis, Shadow Chanel and Clear Perfume.
"What’s wrong, Lu Chen?" Li Chengfeng asked.
I went straight to the point. "We’ve got a new plan. Eve and I will stay behind to draw the enemy’s attention while you, Little Gui and Chaos Moon withdraw to the back. I want you to use the fog as a cover, slip past the Northern Alliance’s battle lines from the flanks and head straight to Burning Harbor. Once you’re there, destroy it so they cannot dispatch any more troops to the sea."
Li Chengfeng straightened a little. "If I take our elites to attack Burning Harbor, what about you two? Can you and the guild leader really fend off so many Northern Alliance elites with second-rate troops?"
"We’ll deal with it one way or another. Now go!"
"No way!" Li Chengfeng implored. "We can’t possibly let our guild leader and vice leader be the cannon fodder! I will stay behind to hold down the enemy while you two attack Burning Harbor."
I smiled. "Save it. Worse comes to worst, we die once and revive at the city. It’s not like we’ll get pregnant from death, so what are you so worried about? Now obey your orders and get lost, general!"
Li Chengfeng sighed. "Well… fine. But Chaos Moon is staying with you. Without sufficient troops, the Northern Alliance can easily surround and destroy you."
"Mm, okay!"
On the other side, Snowy Cathaya had also made similar arrangements while informing The Monarch Descends, Blazing Hot Lips and Baidicheng about the plan. After a short discussion, the three guild leaders also sent a portion of their troops to follow Li Chengfeng and Purple Marquis. By now, lightning strikes were a constant backdrop of the battlefield, the wind was howling like crazy, and the sea waves rose as tall as ten meters at times. We could no longer see Li Chengfeng and the troops’ ships from where we were.
Leading at the front, I exploited the Dragon God Warship’s strength to my advantage and took down one enemy ship after another. At this point, our only thought was to earn enough contribution points to celebrate the new year.
……
The wind grew stronger and stronger as time passed.
Howl!
A terrifying noise later, the howling wind started pulling water into the air and forming a hurricane. Illuminated by lightning and looming over everyone’s head like a dragon, the hurricane looked absolutely terrifying. The sea waters were also growing more and more turbulent as a result.

He Yi’s sword hand was shaking a little. She was a girl, and many girls were afraid of the many forms of mother nature such as lightning. The fact that He Yi, Lin Yixin, Beiming Xue, Murong Mingyue, Chaos Moon and more had courageously chosen to stay behind and fight the enemy despite the crazy weather we were in was praiseworthy already. It was simply unrealistic to demand them to remain calm in the face of a hurricane that could tear us from limb to limb at any moment.
"Turn 30 degrees to port now! Quickly, or we’ll run into the hurricane!" I shouted.
Beside us, Lin Yixin and Chaos Moon were turning their ships as well.
BOOM BOOM BOOM...
It was bad. Another four hurricanes appeared out of nowhere and started ravaging everything in its path, and worse that was just the beginning! This part of the sea had turned into a living hell almost immediately after we sent away our shock troops. The system must really "love" us today!
"All units!"
I abruptly raised my sword and shouted, "Withdraw from battle and avoid the lightning storm at all costs! Our biggest enemy now isn’t the Northern Alliance, but the very sea we’re on!"
Everyone nodded in agreement and fear. No one had thought that the weather would become this bad in our very first naval battle until it did. Was the system really making a fatal joke at our expense today?
……
At the distance, a hurricane caught up to a dozen or so German ships who failed to dodge it in time!
BOOM BOOM BOOM!
The ships were torn apart almost instantly, and countless players screamed in terror amid the sea waves, storm and lightning. It was the fucking apocalypse.
"Fuck, this is beyond scary…" A white-faced Murong Mingyue was leaning on me and pressing her gigantic, shivering breasts against my arm before I knew it.
I shot her a glance. "Please have some self-respect, sis…"
Murong Mingyue glared at me and said, "If you don’t be my bolster tonight, I will hang Eve’s underwear on your balcony every day…"
"You’re a monster! And don’t distract me right now, dammit! Row faster and stay away from the hurricane, crew!"
The Dragon God Warship swerved full speed ahead to the right just in time to avoid a gigantic hurricane. Had we run straight into it, we would have been on our merry way to the city already!
"Take care, everyone!"
I kept shouting, but the rest of the fleet couldn’t always keep up with our speed or my orders. Two Ancient Sword Dreaming Souls ships at the front were pulled into the sky, and an instant later, the sound of crushed wood and bloodcurdling screams joined into one. The lightning strikes illuminated the shock in all our expressions.
Whoosh!
The Dragon God Warship managed to break through a wave and continue toward safety, but Chaos Moon’s normal warship didn’t possess the speed we had. A failed dodge later, she too was dragged into the hurricane!
Swhoosh!
The entire ship and hundreds of players were devoured by the hurricane just like that.
"Fuck! Chaos Moon!"
Staring at the flying fragments in the air, I clenched my teeth and gripped my sword tightly until veins bulged on my hands. Dammit! Did that energetic girl really die just like that?
"Ah…"
Even He Yi was gritting her teeth in sorrow, "Why is this happening, why is this happening…"
Suddenly, we heard a scream from above us. Then, almost a hundred figures fell from the sky!
Thud!
A beautiful figure landed right on top of our sail, and after grabbing onto a rope to steady herself she said with a laugh, "Aiyo, I didn’t expect to survive that. I must be born under a lucky star or something, hehe…"
"Fuck!"
Despite our swearings, both He Yi and I let out a sigh of relief and helped Chaos Moon down the sails. We also slowed down a bit to pick up the hundred or so Dragonlight Cavalrymen who landed in the sea next to our ship. The elite cavalry that slaughtered countless enemies in every Nation War they had participated in were as powerless as puppies in the sea, and when they were finally rescued, they swore angrily, "Fuck this storm! It damn near boiled us like bullfrogs!"
……
I looked around us and noted that the apocalyptic scene stretched over several kilometers. Countless ships had been thrown into the air, and dodging was almost impossible due to how fast the hurricanes were moving. Most of the ships belonged to the Northern Alliance. I had no doubt that this forbidden-zone level ocean storm was enough to annihilate their entire naval army.
I, Lin Yixin, Stranger of Three Lifetimes, Ling Xueshang and Come See The Snow Tonight continued to weave around the hurricanes without a drop of blood on our faces. No one had predicted the war to turn out like this; the power of nature overwhelming absolutely everything in its wake. In this storm, the power of Famous or Divine Generals was worth exactly nothing.
……
Beep!
It was at this moment I received a message from Gui Guzi: "Boss Broken Halberd, I noticed that the battlefield has turned into a hell zone. Are you guys doing alright?"
I replied, "So far so good. How about you guys?"
"We’ve escaped the storm and are on the way. We should reach Burning Harbor in two hours!"
"Mn. When you reach the harbor, use every cannonball you have in five minutes and turn Burning Harbor into rubble. Tell Chengfeng not to get tied up with the enemy and retreat immediately after you’ve destroyed the harbor!"
"Got it!"

Schooling at a top culinary academy in the capital. An honorable position as heir to House Boulier, a line of merchant-lords who have charmed the rich and powerful with their cooking for centuries. And in a single night, it all burned to ash. When the outbreak of war destroys his hometown, Charles is charged with escorting his family’s sacred treasure—a recipe book passed down for untold generations—out of harm's way. But his simple mission grows complicated when he’s captured by one of the most feared battalions in the world: the Spears of Mercy. Life as a prisoner in their war camp is brutal and uncertain. Charles has few allies and even fewer strengths to rely on. Only his skills in the culinary arts, honed over a lifetime in the kitchen, are deemed useful enough to keep him alive another day. But he’s not out of hope just yet. With a dash of wit, a pinch of luck, and some very creative cooking, he might just find a way to recover his family’s legacy and take back his freedom. This project is a food-themed fantasy that centers on cooking and chefs. The setting spans a wide world featuring ingredients/recipes both real and inspired by traditional fantasy. I'll eventually be publishing it as a full-length novel (or series of novels depending on length). These are the first draft chapters. I'll likely be re-writing more than once, then editing before publishing, so impressions and feedback are quite welcome. If you like the story so far and you're interested in being an early reviewer for the final product, feel free to message me. I'm looking for an artist to make some concept art and a cover (the cover shown here is just a temporary placeholder). A stand-alone novel for now, but it may turn into a series down the road.
