《Otherworldly Merchant》Chapter 488: The Serenade of Love

We suddenly heard a burst of horrible laughter from above. We lifted our heads and saw the dried body hanging from a beam. The moment we looked at her, she swung her hand and tore her clothes, revealing her rotten body.
I couldn’t help but retch. I immediately drew the peach wood sword and aimed it at her!
She didn’t attack us. Instead, she hovered over the lectern and mumbled something indistinctive.
The female ghost kept making strange sounds. Then, the Yin energy in the area began to congregate around her. The ghost’s withered and decomposed body started to replenish and swell up. Not even after one minute, she had become a naked and sexy woman.
Li Mazi gulped his saliva and said shamelessly, “If I die in her hands, I feel it’ll be worth it.”
I ignored him and turned to Marco, telling him to protect himself. Then, I took the peach wood sword and dashed toward the female ghost. Marco held me and screamed, “Zhang, you can’t go! She’s a devil now! You’re not her opponent!”
“You don’t know if you don’t try! Move!”
I understood that Marco had good intentions. However, if we didn’t take risks now, we wouldn’t be able to leave alive. I pushed him aside and thrust my sword forward.
As I was approaching her, the ghost didn’t move. Whenever danger was near, she would turn into a ring of light. I smirked and thought that I’d been practicing how to hit a moving ring a lot these past days. I had practiced just to be able to counter her move.
However, I didn’t expect that the ghost would do something else this time. The moment I was about to hit her chest, the corner of her mouth rose, and she suddenly disappeared.
My sword hit the void. After a second of bewilderment, I heard Li Mazi scream.
“Watch out!”
At that moment, a strong force hit my back.
I was sent a few meters forward. When I landed, I vomited blood. The ghost stood at the place I had just stabbed her and gave me a disdainful smile. She provokingly licked her lips.

“Screw you!”
She was playing with me as though she was playing with a mouse. I gritted my teeth and got up. I ignored the pain in my back and thrust the sword one more time. However, as soon as it approached the ghost, she disappeared.
I learned from experience this time and pulled my peach sword backward. I aimed again. Still, I only reached the void. Before I could react, the ghost appeared above me. Her sharp, red fingernails dug into my neck, and blood spurted.
I instinctively jerked back to avoid the fatal attack, then hacked the peach sword on her head.
After the ghost was hit, a wound appeared on her porcelain skin. The area around the wound began to wither at a speed the naked eye could observe.
I was strangely happy. Even if you can become young and beautiful again, you’re just a dried corpse!
With the previous two experiences, I didn’t actively attack her. I was waiting for her to attack me first so that I could guess the direction of the attack from her Yin energy. As a result, my peach wood sword hit her a few times, which gave her wounds all over her body.
I knew the peach sword would gradually lose its power. The next time she came near me, I would use all of my strength to stab her one final time.
However, the image of the sword piercing through her body didn’t come true. The peach wood sword fumed black smoke and broke into pieces!
At the same time, I saw countless female ghosts around me. They were identical and all had strong Yin energy.
I was stunned as it wasn’t a hallucination. Those were her clones! I already had difficulties dealing with one ghost and now… I guessed we all had to die here…
The moment I wanted to give up, white, dazzling light emitted next to us. At the same time, the ghost seemed to feel intimidating. She immediately retreated to the lectern.

I turned and saw the Lance of God in Li Mazi’s hand. It was emitting a blinding white light.
“Zhang, Jesus Christ is here to save us! Thank God, my Lord!” Marco was so excited that he stammered.
Then, he closed his eyes and solemnly read some verses of the Bible. As he was chanting faster and faster, the white light from the Lance of God became more dazzling.
It seemed God was showing his power! Excitedly, I screamed and received the spear from Li Mazi, slowly walking toward the ghost.
As I walked, my vision blurred out. A bearded, foreign man wearing a white gown appeared in my mind. He brushed his garment with one hand while he held his other hand in front of his chest. He smiled and nodded at me.
Then, he turned into a dot of white light and entered the Lance of God!
My head was tingling. Then, my vision became clear again. My hand that was holding the Lance of God became much more agile. At the same time, the female ghost clones scattered. They fled as they had encountered their nemesis.
I was worried that they would escape.
My hand that was holding the lance subconsciously rose, drawing a circle above my head. Then, a burning white light immediately expanded from the circle I had just drawn. The entire structure was covered in white light. All the clones fell to the ground, struggling.
Marco choked on his saliva because he was reading too fast. He had to stop for a while, which caused the white light in the church to subside. The ghost seized the chance and roared bizarrely. Her clones gathered into one and lunged toward me. At the moment she was about to reach me, she turned into a floating, black violin!
The violin emitted an evil, magic power that made me shiver. I forgot to dodge the attack. Instinctively, I rose the Lance of God to parry. I knew I could stab her, but I would also be hurt.
At the moment my life was at stake, Marco started to read the Bible verses again. I felt the power return to my body. However, there was no ghost in front of me but a purple-sparkling skeleton.
I didn’t even think and held the lance tighter, stabbing the skeleton. After a low sound, my vision resumed to normal. The ghost now had a big, bleeding hole in her chest. She looked at her chest in disbelief. There was no unwillingness in her eyes, only endless confusion.
Starting from the head, her entire body turned into ashes, scattering with the wind.
Marco kept chanting since he was afraid that she wasn’t gone yet. In my eyes, the scene changed again.
In the middle of a sea of flowers, a beautiful lady was holding a violin. She was beaming sweetly at me. She waved, then turned and disappeared into the mesmerizing lavender fields.
“You can stop reading. She’s gone,” I said to Marco. We then left the Ghost Castle.
After the ghost was gone, the people from the Longquan Villa mysteriously disappeared. I didn’t know where they went and I was too lazy to track them down. Li Mazi and I spent the next few days with Marco in Milan. Then, we headed home.
It is worth mentioning that on the last night I slept in the hotel, I dreamed of the beautiful European woman one more time. She held the violin and kept turning her head around to see. Every time, her pretty face turned rosier.
I couldn’t see the person behind her, but I knew it was a young man playing the violin.
Paganini, I wish that you will cherish the chance God has given you and treat your beloved well in heaven!

The Silver Mana - Book 1: Initiate
I used to be a healthy, young guy with a normal life - I had a career planned in professional soccer, a girlfriend, lots of hobbies, and loads of fun. Until the accident. Which changed my life. A few years later I had adjusted to my new reality, adjusted to being in a wheelchair, adjusted to having someone take care of me 24/7. And then the world changed. Old people and kids did not make it. And neither was I supposed to make it. But never count me out. If anything, I am tenacious. This new world was different. People could do magic. And there were monsters. And what about me? I had mana as well, silver mana. Which no one else seemed to have. The only problem was, I did not know what to do with it. Until I really needed to. Author's note: This is the rewrite of Silver Mana. The first bunch of chapters (until I will have caught up to level 2 of the dungeon) should be quite familiar to people that have read the original. There are some changes in content, but the story follows the original fairly closely for at least the first 150-200 pages. Most of the changes are in the writing, and some of the details of how things work. A few of the side characters get a bit more attention too. Some general comments to avoid disappointment: 1. The MC likes to swear. If you object to reading the word "fuck" at least once and usually multiple times each chapter don't read the book. "Fuck" is such a great, allencompassing word... fuck that; what the fuck?; fuck me! Fuck! one word, expressing so many nuances. And, frankly, the people I know that use fuck as a swear word.. they often use it a lot. 2. If you are looking for immediate progression, rapid advancement of the story, etc.... read another book. This one takes a bit. 3. I am NOT Pirateaba (who is writing The Wandering Inn) or anyone close to that level of productivity. If you expect to read 10k words every 3 days, or even just once a week... sorry. I've got a busy life. This is for fun, I have no patreon, paypal, anything, so I write when it is fun and however much is fun. Not more. And sometimes that turns out to be a decent amount, sometimes nothing. I have another book (Marrow) so that complicated things - basically I switch between the two whenever the muse strikes me.
