《Physician’s Odyssey》Chapter 633 - Friend from Afar

After the auction, Qin Meimei gave everyone a 3-day holiday since it had been a long time since the employees rested due to working overtime. According to her intention, the Qihuang Charity Funds was a sunshine organisation, and they’re not a retirement industry. If anyone tried to idle, then there’s no need to keep them around.
Many charity foundations in the country use a retirement model where their employees idle around. Then again, the management model of the Qihuang Charity Funds did not incur the employee’s unhappiness since their workload was proportionate to their pay.
An ordinary employee in the Qihuang Charity Funds made about ¥8,000 a month with insurance and annual bonus. That meant that the employees make roughly about ¥10,000 a month, and those in the management level would receive a 50% increment to their salary. Hence, the employees here all wished that they could contribute more to obtain a higher salary.
More importantly, the operation of the Qihuang Charity Funds didn’t go against their conscience. They’re helping others in everything they do, sharing warmth and spreading love to the disadvantaged to change their lives.
Su Tao only had one request to Qin Meimei when hiring employees; the employees must have setbacks in their life as an experience. Because only those who had suffered a setback in their lives could show love when helping others.
Although the Qihuang Charity Funds had just started up, this charity foundation that centred around TCM in using conscience as their concept had won all the employee’s acknowledgement.
Even though the offices of the Qihuang Charity Funds and Three Flavour International share the same building, their employees were two completely different styles. The salary of the Qihuang Charity Funds’ employees didn’t lose out to those in the Three Flavour International. At the same time, their spirit was stronger than those in the Three Flavour International.
“I never expected you to become a philanthropist!” Sun Xuefeng sat in the office, drinking the instant coffee that Su Tao made for him.
He didn’t like to drink tea since it’s bitter, so Su Tao chose to make a coffee for him.
“I can’t be considered a philanthropist. Every so often, life is beyond your control, and many developments are due to an unexpected turn of events.” Su Tao smiled as he looked at Sun Xuefeng. If it weren’t for Song Sichen and Dou Fanggang’s support, he wouldn’t be able to become the President of the Qihuang Charity funds, and at the same time, he wouldn’t have placed such great efforts in this charity foundation.
But looking at it right now, all his efforts were worth it. According to the Qihuang Charity Funds’ current trend of development, it’s not an issue for them to develop into the largest charitable foundation in the country. The moment they become the largest in the country, donations would endlessly flow in, and he would have enough money to put many of his plans into reality.

It has been a year since they met, but Su Tao and Sun Xuefeng were still that familiar with each other.
Sun Xuefeng still had that sloppy attitude, but he’s an expert when it came to computer technology.
If Su Tao was considered a genius in the TCM industry, then Sun Xuefeng held a similar position in the world of hackers.
If it wasn’t for Sun Xuefeng’s help in dealing with Pink Leopard with his hacking skills before misleading them through their navigation, Hanzhou City’s police would definitely have to suffer to arrest them.
Then again, it was all because of Su Tao’s prediction that someone would definitely try to steal the calligraphy.
“When are you going back to take a look?” Sun Xuefeng briefly paused before he sighed, “Life is boring without you! I even sneaked out since it was too boring for me.”
“What lies. If someone hadn’t closed an eye, do you think that you would be able to sneak out?” Su Tao smiled.
Scratching his head, Sun Xuefeng smiled in embarrassment. “Can’t you allow me to deceive myself in my own lies? Although I have no worries, you know that I’m someone who can’t put up with loneliness.”
Inwardly sighing, Su Tao sourly replied, “You’re an FBI fugitive, and you’re akin to a mountain of gold in the eyes of bounty hunters. So it’s the right choice to keep you from running around.”
“Are you persuading me to return?” Sun Xuefeng was a little annoyed.
“Well, we’re not in a rush to have you return. Enjoy some time here before returning!” Su Tao smiled as he stopped teasing Sun Xuefeng.
Although Su Tao’s history for the past ten years was a complete blank, he lived his life more brilliantly than anyone could’ve imagined. At the same time, his companions were also standing at the top of their professions like him, with Sun Xuefeng as an example.
Sun Xuefeng sighed at the coldhearted Su Tao. He had already arrived in Hanzhou City for a few days now, but Su Tao hasn’t asked about the situation back there. It made him feel as if Su Tao has already forgotten about that place.
Truth be told, it wasn’t because Su Tao didn’t want to ask about it, he knew that it’s pointless even if he did. Even if he asked, it would only increase his longing.
The moment someone was riddled with emotions, they would start to lose their motivation, so he had to maintain a high degree of focus.
“Uncle Su entrusted me to tell you something!” Sun Xuefeng spoke up.
“Go on!” Su Tao sighed as he responded with an indifferent expression.
“You can come back anytime if you’re exhausted.” Sun Xuefeng replied.
“I understand my dad too well. If I return without any achievements, he will definitely break my legs.” Su Tao smiled.

Nodding his head, Sun Xuefeng trembled as he acknowledged, “He’s truly a strict and terrifying person!”
Su Tao smiled as he changed the topic in his conversation with Sun Xuefeng onto the interesting things in Hanzhou City. Not only was Sun Xuefeng a talented hacker, but he’s also a foodie. The moment he heard about the food in Hanzhou City, he instantly begged Su Tao to bring him around.
Since Su Tao already had this intention from the beginning, he brought Sun Xuefeng to Hanzhou City’s Food Street. Despite the fact that it’s midnight, the street was still bustling with people. There were people everywhere eating supper.
Su Tao bought a portion of crayfish, clam, roasted pig trotters, a few cold dishes, and a jug of beer to start eating outside the stall. With Sun Xuefeng’s capability, he extinguished two kilograms of crayfishes before Su Tao ordered another two kilograms. Furthermore, they were also given another jug of beer by the generous boss.
The moment the crayfishes were served, two familiar figures were walking over. They were Jiang Qinghan and Zhang Zhen, who had just knocked off from work. Zhang Zhen called out to Su Tao from afar when he saw the latter, to which Su Tao smiled. “Come, let’s eat together. I’ll pay the bill!”
Rolling up his sleeves, Zhang Zhen started biting on the pig trotters. This fellow was clearly famished. Tearing the pig trotters with his teeth, he swept a glance at Sun Xuefeng and asked, “Introduction?”
“A friend of mine!” Su Tao gave a simple introduction.
After sourly putting down the half-eaten pig trotters, Zhang Zhen asked, “You consider that an introduction?”
But just when Sun Xuefeng was about to introduce himself, he was interrupted by Su Tao, “Officer Zhang, you’re already off work now, and you still want to investigate the identity of others?”
Sun Xuefeng’s mouth was left open as he chuckled and did not continue any further. He’s a hacker, not to mention that he’s currently wanted by America and blacklisted in China. It was all thanks to Su Tao, who was quick-witted, that he stopped from nearly exposing himself.
“Go take a few gloves over!” Jiang Qinghan instructed just when Zhang Zhen was going to pursue.
Zhang Zhen was briefly stunned before he scratched his head and smiled. “Roger that!”
While Zhang Zhen went to the stall and came out with a pile of disposable gloves, the countenance of the boss turned green upon seeing that and immediately went up to tell Zhang Zhen that he’s only allowed to take a few of them. Unhappily returning to his seat, Zhang Zhen grumbled, “The boss is really stingy! I’ll bring people over next time to trash his stall.”
“Officer Zhang, you can be considered a section-level official, so why are you so narrow-minded with ordinary people?” Su Tao smiled.
“Stop throwing sarcasm at me. You still have no idea, but someone at my level has no authority. I can only live with my head in the waistband.” Zhang Zhen sighed before he ridiculed, “I’m already in my thirties, but I don’t dare to find myself a wife. I’m afraid that my wife might become a widow someday.”
“That’s because you have low EQ and no girls took a fancy to you.” Jiang Qinghan ridiculed.
As Zhang Zhen chuckled, he replied, “Captain, can’t you give me some face since there’s someone else around?”
Su Tao had a favourable impression of Zhang Zhen. He’s someone loyal to his friends. Although there were many corrupt cops in the world, there were also those with a clear conscience like Jiang Qinghan and Zhang Zhen.
When another portion of crayfish was served, Zhang Zhen felt that it was too bothersome with the gloves, so he resorted to his bare hands. Very quickly, his hands were covered in grease. Looking at Jiang Qinghan, who’s having difficulty with the shell, Su Tao went to help her with it. With his Heavenseizing Hands, removing crayfish shells was nothing but a piece of cake.
Looking at Su Tao and Jiang Qinghan, Sun Xuefeng knew that this fellow definitely had some feelings for this charming police officer. However, he wasn’t a stranger to Su Tao’s habits since this fellow loves to flirt around, and this was also the reason why he was always beaten up by the strict Uncle Su.
“How’s the follow-up with Pink Leopard?” Su Tao asked after seeing that they’re almost done with the food.
Zhang Zhen did not hide it from him and opened up, “A few of our brothers were injured, but fortunately, they only suffered some light injuries. As for those international robbers, we’ve already given them to the National Security Bureau since this case involves foreign affairs. Our authority is limited, so it’s best for them to investigate this matter. Oh, right. How did you manage to give such exact tracks of them?”
When Sun Xuefeng heard Zhang Zhen’s words, a smear of an unnoticeable smile rose on his lips.
“I guessed it. I understand the psychology of others, and criminals like them will only dare to take remote paths when they’re thrown in a desperate situation.” Su Tao covered up.
Due to the fact that Su Tao had resolved cases with his brilliant detective analysis skills, Zhang Zhen was no longer a stranger to it and nodded his head. He inwardly exclaimed that Su Tao was too formidable, he was like the reincarnation of Sherlock Holmes.
As for Sun Xuefeng, he nearly spat out the crayfish in his mouth from Su Tao’s ability to lie. He actually managed to come up with such a lie, and most importantly, that blockhead actually believed it?!

A Universe of Bloody Evolution
The Void was never meant to be opened to the Multiverse. The horrors waiting inside it should have never seen the light. And yet, the biggest mistake in the history of creation led to the impossible. In an event later known as the Outbreak, gates appeared in the first Universe, and with them, the Void was free. For ages the Void destroyed universe after universe, spreading its power in every direction, leaving only death and pain behind. But before every Universe met its end, it still had a chance. A small part of the population that survived the initial Outbreak and was granted a mysterious System to help them fight against the dangers that came from the Void. They were the Multiverse's last hope even if they couldn't stop the collapse of their own world. And so the cycle continued until the 36th Outbreak came. Leo Hale, a young reporter from Wolford, was one of the lucky ones to survive when the majority of Earth's population turned into monsters straight out of nightmares. Thrust into a constant battle for his life, Leo was determined to push forward and find his remaining family. Even if it meant sacrificing what was left of his humanity. After all, you either adapt or die. Story of progression and evolution with my take at the post-apocalyptic genre. Unlike most monster evolution stories where the monster rushes to gain human form, here I plan to do something quite the opposite. After all, in a world where almost everything wants to kill you, being human can be hard. Warnings are here to give me the freedom to write whatever is necessary. This is my first original novel. Also English isn't my native language so any feedback is welcome. Remember that even if initially this story takes place on Earth, fictional places, streets, etc will appear. Release Schedule: Monday - Wednesday - Friday Average chapter length: 2000-2500 words (There might be exceptions as is the case with some of the first chapters - most of them are longer.)
