Ye Qingzi stood next to Chu Mu. She could feel his gaze become cold, and she let out a shocked expression. She then whispered: “What’s the matter?”
“I’m guessing that this group of people has come through here before.” Chu Mu used soul remembrance to tell Ye Qingzi.
“They’ve come here before?” Ye Qingzi was slightly confused, and didn’t understand how Chu Mu had deduced this.
“We’ll continue to follow Zeng Linshan forward. If no other soul pets appear, then this guess is probably accurate.” said Chu Mu.
Ye Qingzi quickly understood Chu Mu’s meaning and faintly nodded her head.
“What’s the matter with you two? You’re walking so slow, walk faster. The faster we finish the mission, the earlier we can return.” Zeng Linshan turned his head and watched Chu Mu and Ye Qingzi move along very slowly. Yet, he cracked a smile when he spoke.
Chu Mu and Ye Qingzi followed Zeng Linshan’s intent and quickened their pace.

Indeed, as Chu Mu had guessed, the number of soul pets that appeared the further they entered would grow increasingly few. Moreover, there were a few paths where not even a soul pet was present....

Will release on a minimum weekly schedule. -After a backlog of chapters, posting will slow, but in the interim you can expect a chapter a day up until roughly 25 chapters. -This story at times will potentially carry some heavy moments, but the tone is intended to be lighter overall. -There are invisible game-like elements in this story, but nothing so concrete as a dedicated gamelit novel. -I personally have some issues with anxiety, so I may or may not interact with the community a lot. I'll try if anyone has questions, but I can't guarantee that it'll be consistent. -MC is a non-human lead, and will never actually become human. Romance will potentially happen between side-characters, but not with the MC. -MC IS NOT THE ONLY VIEW POINT. I have to put that out there because people sometimes hate alternate PoV's in a story. None of them will be filler, and they'll be there only to give a little bit more nuance and meaning to the world that the MC has stepped in, or is about to be imminently important. On all of recorded history, it never happened. Until it did. In a small village of fur-less and tail-less ape-beastkin, a boy found out he was uniquely handicapped. Nero's level cap was Zero. From Joseph Campbell's Monomith to Stephen King's advice, and that encyclopedia of tropes you've visited, fiction has been dissected and reassembled countless times. One will surely find elements inspired on other works here. Just like cooking from basic ingredients, the recipe and presentation is what really matter. This is a fantasy adventure, of someone that goes from a zero to a slightly bigger zero. It will have romance but no harem. Cruelty but with hope dimly shining ahead.
