《I Am Overlord》Chapter 143: Time to Start a Fire

Berated by Xiang Shaoyun, Dong Zi felt so wronged he nearly cried then and there.
Xiang Shaoyun realized that his tone was a tad bit too harsh, so he toned down and said, "Alright, wait here. I'll be back shortly."
Behaving like a little girl when you're a grown ass man. What the hell, Xiang Shaoyun grumbled inwardly.
Looking at Xiang Shaoyun walking away, Dong Zi glanced at the blackfur corpses only to feel a chill up his spine before he quickly ran after Xiang Shaoyun.
"Sorry, it was my fault," Dong Zi apologized.
"Forget it, I was wrong too," Xiang Shaoyun replied. He then added, "Those sinister beings are scared of fire. We need to gather more wood and flint to chase them out of the cave so we can start exploring it."
"You're so smart!" Dong Zi opened his eyes wide and stared at Xiang Shaoyun in a worshiping manner.
Not really. You're just stupid in comparison, Xiang Shaoyun grumbled inwardly.
Soon, they gathered a large amount of wood and some flint. The so-called flint was in fact merely some old and dry stones that could easily create sparks when rubbed together.
"Alright, store them all in your storage bracelet. Come with me when you're done," Xiang Shaoyun said.
"Huh? How did you know I have a storage bracelet?" Dong Zi asked in astonishment.
Xiang Shaoyun was already numbed by this stupidity as he answered helplessly, "Please, you already exposed yourself when you took out the pills and armors earlier."
An awkward look covered Dong Zi's face, and he said, "Looks like I have been careless." He paused for a bit before saying, "But I don't have enough space for all this wood."
Xiang Shaoyun sighed and said, "We will carry them over, then."
He was not about to expose his secret, especially to a stranger he had just met. Thus, they piled the wood and tied it up before carrying it to the cave.

When they were near the cave, Dong Zi said, "There are still a lot of blackfur corpses. What should we do about them?"
"Wait," Xiang Shaoyun said calmly.
"What do you mean?" Dong Zi was confused.
Xiang Shaoyun ignored the question. He shut his eyes and began to wait in silence. Dong Zi felt awkward at being ignored and was too embarrassed to continue asking.
Hmph. You think you're so smart, huh? If you ignore me, I'll ignore you too! Dong Zi thought resentfully.
Thus, he sat down and turned to face the other way. Not far away, some of the blackfur corpses were roaming around aimlessly, while others were busy feasting on the corpses on the ground. None had noticed Xiang Shaoyun and Dong Zi.
Every now and then, some black mist would drift out of the cave and slowly spread in the air. Gradually, the sky darkened, and a gust of chilly wind swept past them. The chilly wind scared Dong Zi so much he hugged himself and sat closer to Xiang Shaoyun.
"Hey, it's getting dark," Dong Zi said when he saw that Xiang Shaoyun was still silently sitting cross-legged.
Xiang Shaoyun ignored him, seemingly in deep meditation.
Hu! Hu!
The whistling sound of the wind grew louder, scaring Dong Zi to the point he grabbed at Xiang Shaoyun's sleeve and trembled. It was now that Xiang Shaoyun finally opened his eyes and said, "Time to start a fire."
"Fire? What? I say we leave!" Dong Zi said.
"You are the one who wants to find out what's in the cave. And now, you want to leave. What exactly do you want?" Xiang Shaoyun complained.
"B-but...I'm afraid of the dark!" Dong Zi said as he stuck closely to Xiang Shaoyun.
Xiang Shaoyun shot Dong Zi a look of disdain before walking toward the pile of wood. He undid the binding and spread the wood around. During this, Dong Zi stuck closely to Xiang Shaoyun like a tail.

"Wait here. I'll carry some of the wood to the cave. Set it on fire when I tell you to, do you understand?" Xiang Shaoyun said before he left with a large bundle of wood.
"Hey, hey...I-I'm scared!" Dong Zi stamped his foot and said.
If Xiang Shaoyun saw how Dong Zi was behaving, he would probably call him a crossdresser inwardly again. What kind of man would behave like that?
"Howl!"
The blackfur corpses were very sensitive to the smell of blood. The moment Xiang Shaoyun approached, they dashed toward him by relying on their sharp senses. There were still a few dozen blackfur corpses left, and the sight of them all rushing toward a single person was a scary one.
Before they had a chance to surround Xiang Shaoyun, he used his Overlord's Nine Nether Steps to move past them, approach the cave, and toss the wood to it. Right this moment, two blackfur corpses pounced on him.
Xiang Shaoyun did a backflip and kicked the two blackfur corpses, sending them flying over 10 meters away. He took the chance to crush the flint he had on him before scattering them. Meanwhile, the blackfur corpses surrounded him and roared without stop.
Xiang Shaoyun showed no fear. With the Overlord's Nine Nether Steps, he moved among the blackfur corpses like a specter at a speed none of the blackfur corpses could touch. Soon, the entire area was filled with flint powder that trailed straight toward the pile of wood he had tossed to the cave earlier.
"Start the fire!" Xiang Shaoyun shouted.
Unfortunately, Dong Zi was currently leaning against a tree and trembling in fear. When he heard Xiang Shaoyun's shout, he tried to set the wood on fire to no avail.
At this point, Xiang Shaoyun was already surrounded by a large number of blackfur corpses. Some started to pounce Xiang Shaoyun while others started to spit poisonous gas from their mouths. A regular person would become dizzy and nauseous once they came in contact with this poisonous gas.
Since Xiang Shaoyun had the poison discharge pill in his mouth, he was still immune to regular poison. He stopped dodging and started counterattacking the blackfur corpses.
Gold Helix Fist!
His fist shot out as fast as lightning; the might of his fist crushed forth as fist energy swirling with vicious gold energy shot forward and spiraled like a drill.
Bang!
The fist blew out the chest of a blackfur corpse. Xiang Shaoyun assumed that the blackfur corpse he hit would be dead from that, but he found that the blackfur corpse was still capable of moving. In fact, the blackfur corpse was now hugging his arm as it opened its mouth wide to bite Xiang Shaoyun.
"Piss off!" Xiang Shaoyun roared as he raised his arm and swung the blackfur corpse toward the other blackfur corpses.
Even as the blackfur corpse flew away, it managed to claw Xiang Shaoyun's arm with its sharp nails. Fortunately, Xiang Shaoyun's flesh was much tougher than a regular cultivator's, and the nails could not dig into his flesh. Otherwise, he would have been poisoned for sure.
Xiang Shaoyun did not dare to be careless. He attacked repeatedly, blasting one blackfur corpse's skull apart with each punch.
"Start the fire! What are you waiting for?" Xiang Shaoyun yelled.
Finally, Dong Zi was able to create a spark with the flint and set the wood on fire.
Bang! Bang!
