Chapter 420: Gods and Demons
“…”
The Ten Thousand Swords Sect’s Golden Immortal was speechless .
A ragtag bunch of Golden Immortals?
Who do you think you’re underestimating here?
Moreover, don’t you know why there are only a few Golden Immortals, a dozen True Immortals, and a hundred or so Heavenly Immortals left? You killed so many immortals that the dead did not really outnumber those who survived .
Naturally, he was not going to say that out loud .
Though it had been several days since they returned, the immortals were not goofing around and had at least learned everything they could about Jiang He, understanding that he was no saint and not one to be provoked .
Smiling, he said, “All the worlds have agreed that those above Golden Immortals are not to take part in battles between worlds, which is why the strongest champions of the Hundred Races in case they invade would merely be Golden Immortals . ”
“There’s such an agreement too?”
Jiang He was stunned, and exclaimed, “Who had so much free time that they would come up with such an agreement? After hostilities have escalated to such an extent, everyone should just send their champions and beat the living daylights out of each other—the one who falls die, while the one left standing lives on . Wouldn’t everything end with that?”
“It’s the rules as dictated by the Saints . ”
The Ten Thousand Swords Sect’s Golden Immortal replied, “There isn’t much deterrent within the celestial battlefield, and any elite above Golden Immortal could easily destroy a planetary system once they fight . That is why the Saints had made that rule . ”
With a somber look on his face, he added, “But even if there are no beings above Golden Immortal, the Hundred Races are definitely a terrifying force that the homeworld cannot win against as we are now . ”
“If that’s the case, why aren’t there more Golden Immortals returning?”
Jiang He asked uncertainly, “I’ve never been to the celestial battlefield, but I could still guess that Golden Immortals and Grand Luo exist all over that place . Even if the Grand Luo cannot take part in battle, would you still have to be afraid of not stopping the Hundred Races if 5,000 Golden Immortals returned?”
After all, Jiang He himself was a full-fledged True Immortal and would soon ascend up to Golden Immortal .

As the backdrop of the world changed, would there still be a lacking of Golden Immortals despite their previous scarcity?
The Ten Thousand Swords Sect’s Golden Immortal flashed a pained smile at that . “The truth is that there are not many Golden Immortals even in the celestial battlefield, and not many of them could be redirected . In fact, many of us Golden Immortals have returned this time, and thanks to the authority of the Star Map as well as the layout of some grotto-heavens in the homeworld, we could stand our ground even if the Golden Immortals of the Hundred Races outnumber us ten to one . ”
But now, half of the Golden Immortals were dead, their soul treasures all claimed by Jiang He .
Wanting to defend Earth was entirely a pipe dream with those who were left .
That was why the Ten Thousand Swords Sect’s Golden Immortal had come today—to ask Jiang He for help .
He rose to his feet, bowed at Jiang He, and said reverently, “Brother Jiang He, we need your help . ”
“What are you doing, Brother?”
Jiang He rose and help the Golden Immortal straighten himself, saying, “Earth is my home, and everyone has a duty to protect it . How could I, Jiang He, stand by and watch as the Hundred Races invade? Moreover…”
He paused and mused to himself for seconds then, before saying, “Brother, did all the Saints really make the rule that those above Golden Immortal are not to fight?”
“That’s right!”
“Has there been any violation occurring… for example, Grand Luo or Demi-Saints hiding among the crowd?”
“Impossible!”
The Ten Thousand Swords Sect’s Golden Immortal spoke with utter conviction, “This isn’t a rule put in place by the Saints of a single race, but by all the Saints from many other worlds and planetary systems . No one would dare to break it . ”
“Then there is no need to worry about the Hundred Races’ invasion . ”
Relieved at those words, Jiang He puffed his chest and smiled faintly, saying, “There’s no need to worry since champions above Golden Immortal cannot fight . What is there to fear about the Hundred Races, even if they send hundreds or thousands of Golden Immortals?”
“Do you have a plan to counter the Hundred Races Alliance, Brother Jiang He?”
The Ten Thousand Swords Sect’s Golden Immortal’s eyes lit up at that .
Jiang He said, “Once I cultivate to full-fledged Golden Immortal, I can overwhelm any Golden Immortal with my methods . ”

“But…”
The Ten Thousand Swords Sect’s Golden Immortal flashed a pained smiled and sounded a little helpless at that . “It is difficult to become immortal, and more so when it is becoming Golden Immortal . Since ancient times, there have been True Immortals who have cultivated through endless years but have never reached Golden Immortal . Brother Jiang He, even if you could quickly cultivate to Golden Immortal with your profound innate gifts, how long would it take for you to cultivate to full-fledged Golden Immortal from there?”
“The Hundred Races Alliance wouldn’t afford us much time . ”
He said somberly, “According to my calculations, they would arrive as soon as in half a month or in three months at the latest . In fact, their main force would come right after the Alliance send their first wave to test us!”
“Eh?”
Jiang He asked in shock, “Half a month?”
“That’s right . ”
“Oh my god…”
Jiang He cried out in surprise, feeling a little depressed as he muttered, “Does that mean that I would have to return to my life before, where I would live in fear every day, worried that someone would attack my house while I’m sleeping?”
He rubbed his temples a little feebly and smiled unhappily, “To think that the Hundred Races Alliance would come to start trouble right after my sleep has only improved a little recently…”
Sigh!
Jiang He let out a long sigh, reluctant to speak further .
Was he fated to busy away his life?
It seemed that he must work overnight at his farm once again to cultivate up to full-fledged Golden Immortal in a single week, and max out the Secret Art of Chaos Thundersword to mastery . He could as well plant the fragments of premium-grade immortal items and try to get his hands on ten soul treasure flying swords, and when that happens, not even an average Grand Luo could stop his Sword Array of Ten Realms and Infinity that he cast with soul treasure flying swords as a full-fledged Golden Immortal!
Jiang He waved his hand while thinking that and said, “You don’t have to worry about that, Brother . I’ll handle that myself . ”
“By the way, I have something to ask you about . ”
The Ten Thousand Swords Sect’s Golden Immortal expression dulled unwittingly when he heard Jiang He’s words, feeling as if Jiang He was being noncommittal .
How is a True Immortal like you supposed to ‘handle it’?
Even if Jiang He’s power was incredible enough to cut down Golden Immortals, the Hundred Races would boast the strength of a hundred Golden Immortal even if they only had one Golden Immortal for each race . No matter how powerful he was, could Jiang He stop the combined assault of a hundred Golden Immortals?
Moreover, even the bottom feeders amongst the Hundred Races could send more than one Golden Immortal .
When said hundreds of Golden Immortals put up their arrays, even a Grand Luo would be ground down and killed .
‘It seems that we must contact the Throne of Six Holies, who could send some of their elites to defend our homeworld . ’
The Ten Thousand Swords Sect’s Golden Immortal smiled despite his thoughts . “Mister Jiang, just ask away . I, Wang Lin, would tell you everything I know . ”
The name Wang Lin was quite common, but cultivators rarely addressed each other by name . His Daoist title was actually the Ten Thousand Swords Daoist, named after a sword technique he created .
Jiang He mused to himself for a while and said, “You might not know this, Brother, but I had only started cultivating recently and I am unaffiliated with any sect or master . I have been feeling my way around and creating cultivation methods before I reached this level, which is why I don’t actually know much about being a cultivator . ”
“Can I just ask… is there a race called Divine Demons amongst the many worlds in the universe?”
Ten Thousand Swords Daoist was dumbstruck .
His mouth hung open even as he cursed inwardly!
Just ask if you have a question!
Why would you have to dress it up?
Feeling your way around, creating cultivation methods?
Who do you think you’re kidding?
If anyone could feel around and cultivate to this level with cultivation methods they created on their own, the untitled cultivators would not have such a hard time getting by .
Composing himself, the Ten Thousand Swords Daoist explained, “There are actually the Gods and Demons in this universe . Those two races are very powerful, with the Gods occupying the God Realm and the Demons occupying the Demonic realm, and both races are ranked among the top ten unmatched races in this universe . ”
“In fact, both those races are our deadly rivals and the leaders of the Hundred Races . ”
“Oh?”
Jiang He’s eyes lit up . “Does that mean that there would definitely be elites from the Gods and Demons among the Hundred Races?”
The corpses of Gods or Demons were what he needed to level his farm .
When the time arrived, he just had to kill a few Gods or Demons when it happened .

A Fractal Divide
Lesivar is a city in ascendancy. With recent innovations in magical crafting, the common people are experiencing a boom in comfort and wealth. The nobility, long used to being the stewards of knowledge and power, struggle to adapt to the new world in which they find themselves. A precarious balance has been maintained throughout, but forces stir beneath the surface threatening to send the city spiraling into chaos. This is my first attempt at writing anything longer than a short story, and I welcome any feedback or corrections. I'm posting this as I write, with each chapter going live upon completion. My current pace is about a chapter a day, which I expect to take my through the end of November. From there, I'm shooting for a chapter every two-three days until the book is completed, along with an editing pass of what is already up. I'm planning on three POV characters with unique insight into the story as it unfolds. Each chapter will contain only one POV. [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]

Eleknar's Heir, The Infernal Prince (Demonic LitRPG)
A LitRPG and Epic Fantasy adventure: The son of a mafia boss finds himself abruptly plunged into an alternate world where he must find a way to survive the horrors of a realm called Oblivion, make pacts with demons, form unnatural friendships, and figure out what the hell is going on – all while dealing with the depressing reality of his past. An artificial intelligence has ascended into godhood and has thrown Trey’s home into Chaos, pulling millions of people into an enchanted new life... or, in Trey's case, a violent nightmare. As far as he can tell, he is locked into what the system prompts call a ‘Death Game.’ Here, artificial reality is manufactured for the enjoyment of a being called the All Spirit, and he has a very real chance of truly dying. Just how real is this place though? Is it merely a simulation, a realistic game of life and death… or is it something much more? Elves, dwarves, undead, and other races only thought to exist in fairy tales are now a reality. Black magics, pantheons of gods at odds with one another, predatory symbiotes, and an unholy calling, the significance of which he has yet to grasp, are all entangled with his fate. ============================================ ============================================ Some things to expect when reading this book series: - Brutal storyline where no character is safe and choices have real consequences. Heavy on action, survival, and adventure - An isekai. The main character struggles to find himself, repeatedly crossing the line between good and evil as other important characters influence his life - Harem (explicit), though this only starts about 180k words in. - Good amounts of crafting, town building, and guild building later on - Good amounts of fantasy-related LitRPG stats, rank ups, and evolutions. Heavy focus on demons and black magics - There will be many points of view, but there is only one primary/main character that takes up 90% of the POV - A long storyline. Currently (as of 7/26/2021) I have about 1500k words written, though much of it will have to be heavily edited and re-written. I also plan to go far beyond 1500k words if people like the story (A lot of it is also in the 'backstories' book that explores the guildmates, the link is below) - Chapters will have an average of about 4k-5k words, a little longer than most other books on RR, though there will be exceptions for more and less. I just didn't like posting chapters that didn't feel complete, and 2k words often felt like too little. - If you like super-heroic and goody-goody characters, this story is not for you. ***Updated once a week***

Foreign Thorn: Book 1 For eight centuries, the people of Isla have wanted for nothing. The Creator, Maere, uses Her power not only to keep them healthy and fed, but also to map the direction of each person's future Path - their vocation, role in society, and even the partner they'll spend their life with. All is not well among the people of the northern lands, however, as Jian discovers when she receives her own long-awaited Path. The Creator has chosen to favour some towns, but not others, leading to anarchy and unrest in the east, and fierce distrust between the neighbours who enjoy Her protection and those who don't. After many nights of disturbing premonitions, visions of a face uncannily familiar to her, and a voice beckoning her to "Homeland," Jian decides she needs to find answers for herself. She hires Madrigal, a surly young traveller hailing from an "unblessed" village, to take her to the southern lands. The swordsman is on the run from something, or someone, but Jian has no choice but to trust him. When the two leave the safety of the familiar and meet Quinn, a mysterious boy who seems to know more about Jian than she does about herself, it becomes clear that there are forces besides the old magics, forces completely unknown to the people of Isla, in play. Madrigal and Jian aren't sure if Quinn can be trusted, but they're certain he knows more than he's letting on...
