Chapter 110: 110
Chapter 110: The Pains Of Advancing To Stage 3
Once he had taken his dinner and he had ensured that there was no one around his dormitory, Locke took out the Beast Fusion tome that was hidden in the sofa and continued to study.
A few hours later, after memorizing the chants, Locke summoned Infinite Fire Element and Gale Wings again.
This time, his progress was great, and the fusion was maintained for more than two hours.
He closed the book and rubbed his sore eyes. “Sigh, two hours should be more than enough in a battle. However, the hidden evolutionary path requires both of them to reach Stage 3…”
The condition was a little challenging. Moreover, with Locke’s current finances, he doubted that he could raise both of them to Stage 3 at the same time.
“System, what are their evolution requirements!”
[ Loading, please wait. ]
Then, a panel popped up:
[ Gale Wings require 1,000 Function Points as well as the following materials to evolve to Stage 3 : ]
[ Wind chasing Dye x1.5 liters, Aether Fragments x27, Psychic Wood x37, Iron Armor Leaves x40 ]
[ Infinite Fire Element requires 1,000 Function Points as well as the following materials to evolve to Stage 3: ]
[ Undersea Flame Fruits x17, Regeneration Grass x32, Elemental Specimens x43 bottles, Fire Dragon Horns x11 ]
Locke realized..,
Not only did the Function Points that were needed increase, the materials that he needed had increased as well!
However, he had no grievances. After all, Lil’ White’s performance had significantly increase via its evolution, and as such, the increase in materials needed was to be expected.
The main problem that was plaguing him was that he only had 100 Function Points. It was a great bottleneck in evolving his Battle Beasts.

“System, how do I obtain more Function Points?”
Two seconds later, the System replied, [ There are no quests to obtain Function Points for the time being. Would you like to set up a reminder? ]
‘There was such a function?’ Locke felt that the System was really lazy. It did not inform him of anything unless he asked.
“Set it up!”
“A reminder for Function Point quests has been set up. It will alert the host whenever there are quests available.”
After setting it up, Locke sighed, “Dang, I only have 100 points. I have to hurry up and get more Function Points…”
However, as Function Points were not purchasable, Locke had no other choice but to wait for the System’s prompts.
At the very least, he decided to prepare the materials first. It would be very troublesome if the Chamber of Commerce had ran out of stock, after all.
He immediately took out his phone…
“Hello, sir, this is the VIP service department of the Treasure Tower…”
Locke informed him of the materials that were required for Infinite Fire Element’s evolution. After ten minutes of confirmation, the other party stated, “Sir! After the discount, your tab is 2,736,570,000…”
Upon hearing this price, Locke almost flipped the table over!
‘Evolving a Battle Beast to Stage 3 is a great hurdle!’
Locke missed the Thousand-year-old Snow Fungus grass immensely now!
However, that material was too rare. No black markey merchant was able to get their hands on it.
“Sigh! What’s the point in being a Beastmaster! I’ll just start a business like you guys…” Naturally, Locke was speaking in anger, as the materials were extremely expensive.
“Alright, reserve them for me. I’ll pay a 15% deposit to you guys first…”
It was better to make a decision first. Although these things were far less precious than the Thousand-year-old Snow Fungus, they were not easy to find, especially the Fire Dragon Horns and the Wind Chasing Dyes.

Once the transfer was successful, the service staff said, “Yes sir, since you are our company’s VIP, we will keep it for you for a year! If you need it, please feel free to call us…”
Since things had already progress to this point, Locke took a few deep breaths and tried his best to adjust his state of mind.
Although Locke lacked the points to evolve his beasts, his will did not falter. He could not stand to make no progress at all!
After sitting back at his desk, he opened the Beast Fusion Tome and continued to study.
…
Ring… Ring… Ring… Ring…
Around 12 o’clock in the afternoon, Locke, who wanted to sleep more, was woken up by the ringing of a phone.
“Hello… Who is it?”
“Mr. Locke, it’s me! Something big has happened!”
Locke recognized who it was and asked lazily, “Löw… What’s wrong?”
“Last night, the manor was attacked by a group of people. Many lawns were destroyed! They even left a death letter for my master!” Löw was usually gentle and refined, as such, Locke could immediately tell how urgent the situation was.
“Alright… I’m heading over.” Locke stretched his body and walked to the washroom.
“Thank you! Please hurry up…” After saying that, Löw hung up the phone.
Just as Locke was brushing his teeth, the System rang out.
“Ding!”
[ Quest issued: Solve Adelaide’s problem and receive 500 function points. ]
Locke was overjoyed!
“What perfect timing! 500 points! This is half of what it takes to advance to a Battle Beast to Stage 3!”
He quickly washed up, changed his clothes, and did not even bother to ask for a leave. He summoned his Gale Wings and immediately flew towards the Estelle Manor!
…
While in mid-air, Locke noticed that the flower beds and grass of Estelle Manor had been greatly damaged.
Although it looked messy, he was in mid-air and could see very clearly that there was a word left on the flower beds and grass fields of the manor: Death!
Adelaide, who suffered from OCD, dared not watch the scene. Instead, he was making calls to the federal court in his living room.
“I’m the richest jeweler in the entire continent! Count Estelle! If anything happens to me, the economy of the continent will definitely be affected!”
“What? There’s no evidence? Are the police officers blind? Can’t they see clearly with such a large death mark?”
“A prank? How dare you make such claims!”
Bang!
Adelaide hung up the phone angrily and sulked.
Upon Locke’s entrance to the living room, Adelaide immediately rushed forward and hugged Locke’s thigh as if he had seen the Savior. He howled, “Locke! They’re trying to harm me! As the protector of my family, you have to think of a way to defend me! SOB SOB SOB SOB…”
It was clear that the usual calm merchant was greatly frightened. However, Locke could not accept a grown man crying.
“If you cry one more time, I will refund you the money…”
Adelaide, who was on the ground, knew what this meant. He immediately stopped crying, but his face was still sad. He said, “What should we do? Joey Frank is serious about getting rid of me!”
Locke sat on the high-end sofa and poured himself a cup of black tea. He asked, “Why are you so sure it’s them? What if its the other nobles?”

The Stars Have Eyes
The universe was a vast, empty, dark, and uncaring place. Then life happened, and the universe was changed forever. Only a teeny-tiny bit, but definitely different. Then again, the universe changes a teeny-tiny bit every second of every day. For instance, if someone were to get off the couch and randomly drink a glass of milk? Bam! One less glass of milk in the universe. Changed forever. Well, excluding any time-travel shenanigans, but anyone who puts a big old hole in the time-space continuum just to un-drink a glass of milk should really reevaluate their priorities. Unless, of course, they were attempting to prevent some massive catastrophe vis-a-vis said glass of milk. Such a scenario is by no means impossible, as one should never underestimate the importance of calcium. Another important tip for any life forms out there is to keep things in perspective. Some look at the vastness of creation in relation to themselves and go, ‘Man, this sucks!’ These people really need to narrow their focus. Sure, they will never affect anything happening on the other end of the galaxy, but so what? That’s way the heck over there, where it doesn’t matter. Therefore, in order to maintain a healthy mindset, it is important to narrow one’s perspective to the things and people that affect them, and that they can affect in turn. But what happens if one is an unfathomable cosmic being from beyond the veil of reality? What happens when such an existence is capable of influencing entire swathes of the universe just by its presence? A creature such as Magh'rathlak the Observer? That particular entity is only about average as far as reality-warping creatures from the dawn of time go, so its influence over the fabric of reality is rather limited. And it still struggles to keep things in perspective. That, among other things, is why it decided to narrow its worldview a bit by compressing the maddening vastness of its being into a single corporeal form. Magh'rathlak had never tried such a feat, but that wasn't about to stop it. After all, how hard could being human possibly be?

Sustaining the King's Life
On a secluded mountain situated upon a kingdom known as Feuersturm, resides a seemingly trifling cabin with an unlikely duo as its inhabitant—a witch, and her apprentice who presumably comes from a clan sought after by slave traders. Faustina is a sixteen-year-old girl who fled the slave market with the help of a sickly witch named Eula, who later on trained her as an apprentice for the span of seven years. Plagued with a mysterious disease for several years, Eula died despite the efforts Faustina had exerted to cure her; in her last breath, she left an odd request behind. "Sustain the king's life. This is your duty. Do not adhere to the prophecy." To which the odd plea shadowed a bizarre series of events, a consequential sentence, similar to that of a premonition. The same night the phrase was muttered, the chain of events followed: A warlock's intrusion to their home, with a peculiar yearning to resurrect Eula from the dead... and the king himself, asking for Faustina’s aid. ** 1-2 chapters a day (GMT+8) ** (The artwork belongs to me.
