Fatal Shot Chapter 501

Chapter 501: Old John’s Hidden Mission Activated!
“In comparison to the value of Legendary Grade items, the price of 500 million credits for the equipment set used to produce them is not expensive at all. Legendary Grade gears are on a whole different dimension when compared to normal gears. Their value is definitely more than ten times of Normal Grade items.” At that time, the liquor Old John ordered had arrived.
He popped the cap off the bottle and enjoyed the fragrance of the liquor. Then, he instantly popped the bottle into his mouth and started drinking the liquor. It looked like his alcoholism remained whether he was Old John or “Master John.”
However, Old John was wrong about one thing when he spoke.
The value of Legendary Grade gears was not just ten times the value of normal items, it was hundreds of times the value.
Moreover, the normal that he mentioned was actually Rare Grade gears.
No matter how good Old John’s AI was, and even if he held multiple life professions at the Master Level, he was still an NPC. No matter what, the way he evaluated the value of such items or gears was through the lens of an NPC.
At the current juncture in time, due to the rarity of Legendary Grade equipment, the value of Legendary Grade equipment was over 100 million credits each, which was hundreds or even thousands of times the value of Rare Grade equipment.
“Over 100 million huh? If I can get my hands on two, then I’ll have about enough to buy the production equipment. But there’s no way I can get my hands on such items so easily.” Feng Luo thought but knew it was impossible.
500 million was an astronomical number, and it was definitely making him feel a lot of pressure.
In the past few days, Feng Luo’s financial account in the game had 200 to 300 million credits. Normally, this was enough to make a player become a “Godly wealthy” God-class player.
However, unexpectedly, it was not even enough to set up an equipment store that sold Legendary Grade items.
“But I have to find a way to try to raise the funds required as soon as possible.” Feng Luo decided in his mind.
However, at the moment, he had no clue as to how he was going to fill the 200 million credit gap. After all, it was 200 million credits, not 20,000 credits.
Based on Old John’s information, the target needed to awaken the Force for Old John to produce a Legendary Grade gear. At the moment, the production of Legendary Grade items was not very useful since apart from Feng Luo, there were not that many customers available.
However, from the overall situation at the moment, the awakening of the Force was highly likely to be the content of the next update.
As such, Feng Luo had to quickly get the Legendary Grade item production equipment to maintain an advantage over the game version.
The most important thing was to “maintain an advantage over the game version.”

After some time, Feng Luo had discovered a unique trait of War, that the true way to benefit from the game was to “maintain an advantage” in the game.
The Pet Biochip, the Permanent Enhancement Potion, the awakening of the Force; among the important things Feng Luo obtained, if one looked carefully, one could easily tell that he had obtained them well in advance of the game’s progress, which was what it meant to have an “advantage over the game version.”
For example, Feng Luo obtained the Pet Biochip before the pet system was announced. And though the pet system had already been activated, no high-grade pet biochip had begun to appear.
Feng Luo was able to earn so many credits from selling the Permanent Enhancement Potion was due to the fact that he obtained the perfectly evaluated Enhancement Potion in Roguetown, and was lucky enough to activate the hidden mission with Lin, before the Biohazard Crisis storyline fully began.
As for the Force, the situation unfolded in a pretty similar fashion.
The damage Feng Luo could inflict on a non-warrior type player, combined with the special bullets and Rare Grade rifles like the Barrett, was so high that he would, 99% of the time, make a one-hit kill.
From a certain standpoint, this was clearly an “overpowered” or “imbalanced” situation.
After all, with the shooting range and covert abilities of a Sniper, how would other players play if he could easily one-shot most other players?
However, if one really thought about it, it was not imbalanced at all, and the reason was due to the “version advantage.”
He had awakened the Force while the other players had not yet done so. As such, his damage was incredibly high, allowing him to achieve the feat of one-shotting others.
However, after all the players had awakened the Force and obtained all kinds of peculiar and amazing Force abilities, it would probably be a lot harder for him to one-shot anyone by then.
However, no one could tell if Feng Luo would continue to maintain his lead by then. Don’t forget about the Life Protozoa, the amazing alien creature.
Feng Luo wanted to get the Legendary Grade equipment production set as soon as possible so he could maintain his in-game advantage.
After all, if Old John could produce Legendary Grade items, other Master Level life profession NPC would also be able to produce them. If he were to only purchase the production equipment by the time Legendary Grade items became as common as Rare Grade gears, it would be completely meaningless.
When it came to the Force, Feng Luo thought about something, and grabbed two items from his inventory and placed them on the table.
“Master John, although we do not have the production equipment and hence, are not able to produce any Legendary Grade items, can you make the Rare Grade sniper rifle parts that can use this Legendary Grade gun barrel and sniping scope?” Feng Luo was originally planning to find a sniper rifle that could be modified so that the parts of Death Gaze could be used.

However, since Old John, who was a Master Gun Mechanic, was sitting there, he might as well ask for his help. After all, having Old John modify or even design a sniper rifle would most definitely be at least ten times better than him doing it himself.
“Legendary Grade sniper rifle?” After learning about the items that Feng Luo placed on the table, the six members from My World’s party could not help but gasp in surprise again.
Based on Old John’s promise, though the four of them had the opportunity to obtain Legendary Grade items, they needed to awaken the Force first. To them, it seemed like it was something that was still very far away.
Although they were quite impressed by Feng Luo’s boldness in spending money, particularly after seeing Feng Luo decide to purchase the Legendary item production equipment even in the face of the seemingly insurmountable 500 million credits price tag, they were still incredibly awed by seeing real Legendary Grade equipment in front of them.
After all, it was a Legendary Grade gear.
In the game, the number of known Legendary Grade items was in the hundreds. For ordinary players, they were things that they could only dream about. It was incredibly rare for them to be able to see it with their own eyes.
As a Sniper, Watermelon Skin identified with a glance that the items that Feng Luo put on the table were sniper rifle parts. A Legendary Grade sniper rifle.
“Brother Feng even has a Legendary Grade sniper rifle. Can that Invikill, who only has a Legendary Grade military knife, be qualified to even call himself the “Number One Sniper in all of War?”
…
“It’s actually this.” Unlike the players, Old John’s eyes glowed after seeing the Death Gaze parts that Feng Luo placed on the table.
Clearly, he was familiar with the rifle. One might say he was very familiar with it.
Old John extended his hands and picked up the sniper rifle scope. He closed his eyes as if he was feeling the murderous aura of the gun as he touched it.
After that, he opened his eyes slowly and looked at Feng Luo before finally opening his mouth. “This… How did you get your hands on it?”
Feng Luo observed Old John’s odd expression and answered honestly, “I got them through a trade with a friend.”
As Feng Luo just got the two parts from Onishi, he had not yet had the time to read the content of the mission chip. As such, he did not know the origins of the rifle. However, after observing Old John’s expression, Feng Luo guessed that the sniper rifle had a story behind it.
However, Old John did not continue to pry. Instead, he suddenly asked Feng Luo a weird question, “Do you know why Legendary Grade items are called Legendary?”
In terms of the naming of items in the game, Feng Luo naturally did not know where they came from. After thinking briefly, he decided to answer using the information he learned from Haruko. “It is probably because they are equipment that gives people the ability to use the universal Force…”
Old John shook his head and picked up the Death Gaze gun barrel as he answered, “Incorrect. You are talking about the function of the Legendary Grade item, not the origin of the name.” He continued staring at the gun barrel and had even stopped drinking liquor.
“The name ‘Legendary’ actually came from the time when humans began to enter the Star Galaxy era. Back then, due to various reasons, some people awakened the Force by accident. These people then possessed a strength that surpassed the normal human being, and as a result, most of them became the heroes of the Federation during the Star Galaxy Exploration period and during the war between the natives on some of the planets. They performed many legendary miracles. After a while, scientists discovered something through research. They found that the nature and property of the weapon they used for a long time, where they injected the Force into during battle, had changed. Some of the weapons actually possessed the properties of their Force as well. That was when the items started to become commonly referred to as Legendary Grade items. It was largely done to celebrate and honor the heroes who fought for the country at the beginning of the Star Galaxy era. Although people later began to find other methods to produce Legendary Grade items using the Force, the name continued to be passed on generations after generations.” Old John’s expression kept changing as he told the story, his voice was very deep.
He seemed to have entered a reminiscent mode, but at the same time, the way he spoke seemed to show a vague and hidden sadness and confusion.
Finally, he hid all the complex expressions on his face, looked into Feng Luo’s eyes and said, “I can help you produce the relevant parts for this rifle. But you have to promise me that you will collect all the remaining parts later. After that, you will bring them to me so that I may have a look…”
“Yes, I promise you I will do that.” Feng Luo nodded as he looked at Old John.
When Old John promised that he would create the Rare Grade parts for Death Gaze, Feng Luo felt very happy. After all, it meant that he was probably going to own an amazingly powerful sniper rifle that would be sufficient for him at least until Level 60.
However, at that moment, he was not sure why he nodded very calmly.
[Due to your in-game actions, your approval rating with Old John (Gun Mechanic Master, Ammunition Manufacturer Master, Power Armor Blacksmith Master, ???, ???) has increased. Current approval rating: Trust.]
[You’ve activated the hidden mission “Knot.” The mission has no time limit. Depending on the final result of the mission, you may obtain unknown rewards.]
After Feng Luo spoke, two system notification messages popped up in front of Feng Luo and rang in his ear at the same time.
Old John’s approval rating with Feng Luo had finally increased.
