Chapter 633: Poison Snake vs Black Eagle
After five minutes, the North City players had lost over 80% of their long-range profession members and could not do anything but choose to retreat to the other side of the first base because if they did not retreat now, they would be surrounded by the Bladed Beetles and would have to fight them in close-combat.
“Bang! Bang!”
Feng Luo continued firing the Wings of Death and took out two North City players and gained several pieces of battle loot.
After that, he commanded the Bladed Beetles and returned after making it seem like he was giving chase for a moment.
It was natural that he did not let the Bladed Beetles pursue them. While the enemy did not have many long-range attackers left, they still have over a dozen melee combatants. If the Bladed Beetles were to chase after them, it was highly likely the beetles would be wiped out.
The Bladed Beetles were not the only ones who did not continue chasing the enemy, as even the players from Storm City did not pursue them because their remaining numbers were a lot smaller than the North City players.
Initially, they had almost 30 people when they got to their current location. However, after the battle, they only had 11 players left, and most of them had low HP remaining. It was only because Feng Luo had the self-healing Force ability that he was in a better situation compared to the other ten.
Even though the Rebel Army was currently obstructed and delayed by the Biohazard Crisis, there was no telling if or when they would catch up to them.
At that moment, a retreat was the only choice because the area behind the first base had been cleared of monsters when the team moved over there.
As such, after five minutes, the remaining 11 players finally reached the beach where they first disembarked without any obstruction.
Half of the dark red sun had popped up from the sea’s horizon and the lights of the military ship still floating on the ocean’s surface could be seen.
It was dawn.
“Hurry up! Everyone, push the boat into the water!” The player who became the temporary commander shouted while panting.
To prevent a situation where they were unable to bring their vehicles out due to being in combat mode, the team left a couple of speedboats near the shore earlier when they first arrived on the island.
When the player spoke, the group quickly ran towards the location were speedboats were left.
However, suddenly…
“Boom!”
Sand and pebbles flew into the air as if several explosions had occurred atop the seemingly normal beach.

Accompanying the flying sand and pebbles were eight black-masked human shadows wearing black robes and holding long blades in their hands, as well as multiple cross-shaped purple darts that were rotating at high-speed.
“Puff, puff, puff…”
The temporary commander and another Nine-Star Guild gunner player, both of whom were walking in front, instantly had darts cover their body before two flashes of the white light of death flashed across the beach.
The eight black human figures did not hesitate to charge at the remaining players.
“It’s the Rebel Army’s ninjas!” Phoenix dodged a poisoned cross-shaped dart flying towards her face while exclaiming in surprise.
“Everyone, be careful!” By then, no one had time to think about the reason why the Rebel Army’s ninjas were hiding here. Their only choice was to fight.
The good thing was that while the situation was sudden, the remaining players were not slow to react.
“Kill!” Ten Mile Tiger shouted. He then threw a strong fist that pierced the air towards a ninja charging towards him.
He was not holding a traditional weapon. Instead, he was using a black boxing glove as his weapon, as his hidden profession was a Martial Art Expert.
Players with this profession could obtain high damage bonus special attack effects whenever they were engaged in melee combat. However, the weakness was that the player needed to use special weapons such as the boxing glove to maximize the attack potential.
“Puff!”
However, Ten Mile Tiger’s mighty punch only hit thin air. Instead, his chest was cut by the smaller-sized ninja who dodged his punch by a hair’s length. His loose martial art uniform was also slashed by the cut while the area that was cut was smeared in a green substance.
As a melee combatant, even though he was not restrained by gears or equipment, he wore profession-specific armor and items to make fighting more convenient.
“-4067!”
The result was that the cut directly inflicted a Weak Point Damage on him.
After his defense was broken, a damage of over 4,000 was high enough to be frightening. Besides, the area that was cut was also quickly going numb.
The good thing was that his profession’s specialty was high HP and his total HP was over 40,000. Even after taking that hit, he only lost one-tenth of his total HP.
However, while Ten Mile Tiger could withstand the ninja’s sneak attack, the other players might not be able to withstand it.
Jing Kong and another gunner player were taken out instantly after a ninja got in front of each of them. They died so quickly they did not have time to bring out their guns.

At the moment, all the gunners in the team, apart from Feng Luo, had been wiped out.
“Clang!”
Even Feng Luo, who became a target of the ninjas, was not able to prevent the ninjas from getting close to him. After he raised Wings of Death, a ninja had got close to him.
The gray blade flashed, and Feng Luo reacted as fast as he could and was forced to raise Wings of Death to block the attack. As Wings of Death got into contact with the ninja’s blade, it was immediately cut in half.
This sniper rifle was most certainly very unlucky.
Players’ weapons were not easily damaged. However, this new rifle that was already broken once before when being handled by the doctor earlier, was once again cut in half.
Even Old John would most probably complain if he were to see the state of the rifle right now. Of course, concerning Old John’s attitude, Feng Luo did not have the time to think about it at that moment.
“Puff!”
“-234!”
Since the ninja’s first attack was pretty much blocked by the body of the Wings of Death, even though the blade did land on Feng Luo’s body, it did not break through the SUV combat uniform’s defense.
After noticing that his first attack was not effective, the Rebel Army ninja quickly turned around to follow-up with a second attack. As he did so, Feng Luo managed to bring out Ghost Weep just in the nick of time.
“Clang!”
The gray and slightly green poisonous ninja blade clashed together with Ghost Weep. After that, both remained still as a battle of strength ensued.
Ninjas should be categorized as a warrior profession. However, they were not equipped with alloy armor which meant that their main stat was not strength, and why it should not be too high. Their main stat was probably agility.
As such, even though Feng Luo was not a full-fledged warrior, in a situation where Ghost Weep was used hastily, he was still able to block the second blade attack.
“Die!” However, even though the second attack was blocked, the eyes showing through the ninja’s fully covered head mask emanated a murderous aura.
“Whoosh!”
The gray poisonous ninja blade spun as if it were a poison snake. The slash instantly changed into a forward thrust. The blade slid past Ghost Weep’s blade and headed straight to Feng Luo’s chest.
The ninjas’ weapons were all coated with poison. Through previous experiences, Feng Luo was quite confident that the poison was a type of drug that caused the affected area to go numb after a few seconds.
It was clear that being cut by the blade would be incredibly fatal.
“Pa!”
The ninja blade that acted similar to a poisonous snake was suddenly held by a tactical glove that looked like a black eagle.
The Black Eagle tactical glove was covered by a layer of invisible Force. The attached Force skill, “Eagle Hunt,” was already activated. Similar to the claws of an eagle holding onto a poisonous snake, the hand clad in the glove was now holding the sharp blade.
The Legendary-Grade tactical glove’s Defense Coefficient far exceeded the B-Grade after the skill was activated. Not to mention the ninja’s blade, which should be a Rare-Grade or even a Legendary-Grade weapon would have troubles piercing through its defense.
“Chik!”
On the other side, after holding the blade, Feng Luo’s right arm, which had now doubled in size, was holding a dark red blade that was covered in black energy, Ghost Weep. He swung the weapon down quickly and, amidst the masked ninja’s glare, slit his throat.
“-6078!”
Red color Fatal Damage.
Fresh blood sprayed out of the slit neck.
Due to the defensive equipment surrounding the neck, the damage was not extensive and his throat was not completely slit. It might have also been the result of some extreme training.
Nonetheless, this allowed the ninja to remain alive. However, even after his neck was slit by Feng Luo, this ninja did not back down, retreat, or try to use his hand to block his wound to prevent blood from spraying out. Instead, hate and wrath filled his glaring eyes while both his hands let go of the ninja blade that Feng Luo was holding. He then raised his left hand and grabbed firmly onto Ghost Weep, which was swinging towards him once more!
“Hua!”
At the same time, there was movement near the right sleeve of the ninja’s robe. A dark green long dart covered in a foul stench popped out, and he used it to thrust towards Feng Luo’s chest.
“Savage…” Even Feng Luo could not help but curse at the ninja after seeing him lose two fingers to Ghost Weep’s blade due to insufficient defense and the angry and bloodthirsty glare on the ninja’s face after getting his throat slit.
After he got a hold of Ghost Weep, unless he decided to let go, which meant surrendering Ghost Weep, he could not retreat. It became impossible for him to dodge the sharp weapon headed straight for his heart.

Shades of the Moon
I'm rewriting this story! I have taken down Arc 2 and Arc 3 already to avoid spoiling my new novel. The only reason I'm keeping the first 10 chapters is nostalgia; the writing is awkward and the story is not plotted out properly, but it's here if anyone wants to compare it to the new one. If you'd like to read a more professionally written version of this story, I highly suggest checking out my Synergy. Synopsis version too-many-to-count: “I see,” Kiona said. “But . . . you’re changing once again, aren’t you?” The entity considered her question, lifting a clawed hand towards the night sky. They observed the back of their hand idly, watching the glowing orange veins pulse alongside their pitch-black exoskeleton. The wind picked up right then, and Kiona shivered—just as much from the cold as from the savage grin on the creature's face. “That’s right,” the entity said, clenching their hand slowly into a fist. They let out a quiet laugh, staring defiantly at the Moon as it rose from behind the clouds. “We are shades, yet not exactly. Not like the others. Here, in this world, we've become something more. We are the Shades of the Moon.” There was a heartbeat of silence, during which Kiona joined the entity in their skygazing. The light-green Moon loomed over the city, shining like the entity's eyes. It promised otherworldly knowledge and terrible secrets. It promised progress. It promised change. In that moment, Kiona couldn't have imagined anything more beautiful. “Shades of the Moon, huh?” she said, smiling a bit. It had a nice ring to it.
