I didn’t hide my bad temper. I used to joke around with people and tried to think once more, even when I was angry, to avoid any aggressive attitude reflecting on the way I spoke.

However, what I hated the most was people who talked without reason like I did something wrong before I had the chance to say something. Without listening to both sides and having any accurate judgments, these people drove me to a bad person. I could never stand that.

“What? At least, you should tell me what it is,” I asked with furrowed eyes.

Still, I was keeping manners. Behaving the same as her, rude and thoughtless, would lead me to the same level as hers. I tried not to swear. It wasn’t too late to listen and to be patient until she made some absurd remarks. I calmed down myself.

At that moment, Kim Hye Hill, who bit her lips during the whole time, opened her mouth.

“Lee Soo Yeon, you’re going too far.”

“What? Why? Isn’t she ridiculous?”

“All you heard is some unidentified gossips but why are you talking so dirty like that? What an attitude!”

Giving the rough edge of her tongue, Kim Hye Hill sounded colder than usual. ‘The way she speaks resemble that of Kwon Eun Hyung,’ I thought. A few other kids also nodded as they agreed to her reasonable and less emotional words.

While I looked at Kim Hye Hill, Lee Mina, beside me, spoke in a pissed-off face.

“Hey, and how dare you act like that in front of all the kids? Isn’t that going too far? You don’t even know the truth yet but why are you harassing Donnie in front of the class? What if she later gets involved in some crazy rumors? Are you gonna get rid of all those shits? Though it turns out to be true, it’s none of your business.”

As from her actions and the way she spoke, Lee Mina was really on the ball. She had such a cool and active personality that she often played soccer or basketball with the boys. There was also a rumor about her; no one could stop her when she was angry. As if it was true, her force was fearsome right now. ‘Mina, I always liked you but today, you look super cool,’ I thought.

Girls would get discouraged in front of the enraged Lee Mina. Lee Soo Yeon also looked a little dampened.

“None of my business? I don’t think so… Hey, if the rumor is right, she isn’t such a human being,” said Lee Soo Yeon.

“I said to you, is that rumor true? Yes or no? It’s still a no but why are you talking bitchy like that? It’s you, who’s being ridiculous. Whether the rumor is true or not, apologize to Donnie for talking shitty like that in front of the whole class. Would you feel good if I say, ‘Hey, you did something trashy?” in front of everybody? They wouldn’t care about the truth but look you as human trash.”

“Hey, what if it turns out to be real? What are you gonna do then?”

“I don’t care! Just apologize to her.”

A threatening and murderous spirit seemed to rise over Lee Mina’s shoulders; however, from my experience of her from the beginning of the semester, Lee Soo Yeon was a tenacious character with guts too. She replied in outrage.

“Why? If Ham Donnie did such things, everyone should be aware of the fact as classmates. Am I wrong? We have no idea who she is, so how can we be friends with her?”

“Getting to know each other and digging up someone’s back are different, am I wrong?”

Kim Hye Hill’s calm voice cut through us. As her clean but cold water-like voice followed Lee Soo Yeon’s loud and annoying tone, I felt relieved somehow. It was the moment when I looked up at Kim Hye Hill with gratitude.

Lee Soo Yeon, who looked totally pissed off now, swept her hair back. She then scowled at Kim Hye Hill ferociously and continued her words.

“You know, we can dig up someone’s back to know the truth. Yeah, for example, I heard that your boyfriend got some treatments in a psychiatric clinic before. I asked the kids and they told me it was true.”

“What did you say?”

“Not finished. Am I getting it wrong? Come on, I’m just telling you the objective fact. Rumors can turn out to be true like this, so why not for Donnie? Isn’t it you guys who are going too far from defending her?”

After Lee Soo Yeon’s remark, Kim Hye Woo suddenly intervened in the conversation in an exasperated face. He spoke heavily in a calm yet offended tone just like his sister, Kim Hye Hill.

“Lee Soo Yeon, cut it out now. Lee Jihan is my friend, too.”

His roar sounded as if he would punch her for adding any more words. Shin Suh Hyun, who was touching the corner of his book for the whole time, also sighed and threw in a helping word.

“Excuse me, Lee Jihan has friends in this class too, me and also Yoon Jung In. Just because he’s in a different class, how dare you disclose someone’s past on your own? How are you gonna deal with this, huh?”

“Hey ey ey ey! Hold on, everyone just stop for a sec,” said Yoon Jung In.

He stood up straight from leaning against the locker. Yoon Jung In then strode toward us with his long legs.

When he spoke something to Kim Hye Hill, who looked so bitter, she stepped back without saying anything special. Yoon Jung In also said to Lee Soo Yeon.

“Hey, I’m afraid of this turning into a class fight, so I’m stepping in right now but you should go apologize to Lee Jihan sooner. What you did just now was very shameful. Why are you talking about a person whom you never saw?

“…”

“Yoon Jung In.”

As Lee Soo Yeon shut her mouth tightly, Kim Hye Hill called him up in a bit anxious face. When he turned back to see her, she opened her mouth again.

“What if this spreads and bad rumors follow Jihan? His friends could turn away from him…”

“Come on, you know that he always has many good people around him. His friends won’t take it seriously about Jihan seeing the psychiatrist or so. I mean, at least, they would think it’s nothing to be criticized for.”

Yoon Jung In then lifted his eyes to stare at Lee Soo Yeon. She stepped back as his gaze pricked her conscience.

It was what he just said. Seeing a psychiatrist is nothing to be criticized for. It was just one of the ways to resolve a person’s agony when he or she could no longer endure the inner struggles. ‘Yoon Jung In, you’re quite deep and considerate than I’ve expected,” I thought in admiration.

He giggled then continued his words of relief to Kim Hye Hill.

“Once his friends get to know that, they’ll be like, ‘Bro, if you have something going on, just let these ‘hyeongs’ know,’ and make Lee Jihan pissed off for a while. At least, none of his friends would turn away from him.”

“Yeah, that’s true.”

“Kim Hye Hill, just believe your boyfriend. He’s quite a popular guy in Class 1-4.”

Looking better in relief, she then nodded at him. When I saw her side, Lee Mina showed bloodthirst anger on her face while looking at the back of Lee Soo Yeon’s head. ‘What a frightening look she has,’ with that thought in mind, I felt fortunate about not being her enemy.

Feeling touched, I looked at my girls. Yoon Jung In, who went to the front, then opened his mouth again.

“Hey, Lee Soo Yeon, come here and tell us what the rumor is about in front of Ham Donnie and me. Once the misunderstanding gets resolved, I’ll let everyone know that it was all bullshit. Is that clear?”

Yoon Jung In then motioned us to come toward his direction. I stood in front of Yoon Jung In and Lee Soo Yeon, who walked hesitantly toward the front, stood right across me. When our eyes met, it looked as if she recovered her confidence. With a giggle, she opened her mouth while staring at Yoon Jung In.

“You know Ban Yeo Ryung in Class 1-1, right?”

‘What about her? Why am I getting criticized for her?’ I frowned in wonder.

“Ban Yeo Ryung… she has her anti-fan café on the web.”

The words that continued after made my eyes wide open in surprise.

Except for me, I never thought anyone in this school would know about the anti-fan café of Ban Yeo Ryung. Who would browse a classmate’s name in the search engine?

Besides, unless knowing about the existence of Ban Yeo Ryung’s anti-fan café in the past like my friend, no one could easily find the current search result. There seemed to be, however, someone who got that or else, it would be the person who tried to gossip about this. I bit my lips.
