The Last Embrace Chapter 129

The following day.
After finishing her lunch in the canteen, Jessy teleported herself into Captain Mercado's house in her invisible form. She was worried at first that she might now be able to catch the Captain when he will go out of the house to meet Major Miller.
Thank God, she comes in a time when he was about to get inside his car in the garage area of his house. He was in full military uniform.
Jessy floated in the air in her invisible form trailing Captain Mercado's car speeding into the street.
The travel lasted for almost one hour.
The vehicle entered a tall gate with a gorgeous lawn leading to a grand looking house with a sleek modern design.
The Captain gets out of the car and entered the entrance of the house, he was greeted by a housemaid and guided into the study room of Major Miller. The Major was currently in three days' leave because he was suffering severe flu, he was a decorated 65 years old military man.
Captain Mercado entered the study room and performed hand salute in front of Major Miller. "Captain Mercado reporting for duty Sir!"
"Drop the formalities, Captain Mercado, we are inside my study room, have a seat," the old man said pointing at the chair.
Captain Mercado sat down on the chair facing Major Miller while Jessy was watching and eavesdropping on the two military personnel while they were talking.
"What happened to the operation, Captain?" Major Miller asked.
Captain Mercado coughed. "The Crossbreed stole the bomb launchers and all our weapons and hides it somewhere far away, Sir!"
Major Miller's brows furrowed. "Really? How powerful is this crossbreed? Is this the same crossbreed that teleported the 90 soldiers into the park a few months ago?"

Captain Mercado nodded his head. "Yes, Sir!"
Major Miller rose to his feet...he was looking outside the window of his study room. "What else can this crossbreed do?"
"She can do so many extraordinary things, Sir," replied the Captain.
"....such as?"
"She can levitate in the air, go invisible mode, teleport herself and other people or object to other places, and starts a fire... that's just some of her extraordinary power that I have witnessed so far, Sir."
Major Miller looked at his subordinate. "She almost has all the qualities of the famous superheroes we see in movies, impressive! And she is a woman. If we can capture her and make her breed more young powerful crossbreed to do our bidding, then we have a battalion of powerful weapon at our disposal, isn't that an awesome idea?"
Captain Mercado shook his head vigorously. "I don't think that's a good idea, Sir."
"Why?"
"Because we can't capture the crossbreed, Sir, she is more powerful than any of us combined and she is smart and more importantly she is human, not a vampire," Captain Mercado explained.
"So, what if she is a human being? There is nothing that can stop us to own her, she must become the government's property, we can have many uses of her if we can capture her. If we can reproduce hundreds of crossbreed like her then everything will be worth it," Major Miller said.
Captain Mercado went silent for a moment. Capturing the crossbred is hard, his superior must be out of his mind. "Sir, how about the operation to attack the vampire's hideout, when we will resume the operation?"
"I will have a talk with Colonel Brown first, we will request warplanes that will drop bombs in the vampires hideout then after the bombing you and your men will do the clean up process, arrest everyone that survives and we will make them a bargaining chip so the crossbreed will surrender and that is the time we can capture her alive."

The Captain's face was grim. "But Sir, I have to remind you that there are about 5K human workers in the surface of that facility, they were working as plant growers, they were innocent."
"Yeah, I know about them. But the vampires will use them as a shield, what's the difference? Anyway, when it comes to war there are always casualties on both sides, we can consider those human workers as the collateral damage," Major Miller said.
Captain Mercado pressed her mouth hard. He is not liking his superior's way of thinking. The enemies here are the vampires, the human workers need to be saved. But even if he will oppose to the Major's decision, he knew that he won't listen.
"Just get your men ready, Captain. I will be reporting on duty tomorrow then I will talk with Colonel Brown regarding the deployment of the warplanes. I still need to convince him to give the command to attack the Facility so that we can finally annihilate the remaining vampires on earth," Major Miller said. "That's all Captain, you are dismissed!" he added.
Captain Mercado rose to his feet reluctantly. He performed the hand salute in front of Major Miller and went out of the study room quietly.
Jessy was seething in anger the whole time she was listening to the men's discussion earlier.
Grrrr!
Major Miller is a cruel monster if he has no sympathy for the 5k human workers, then the more he has no sympathy for the surviving vampires. The nerve of this man in planning to capture her for his sick agenda?
The hell will freeze over before they can capture her!
Fury was flashing in her eyes.
She closed her eyes, in her vision she saw the bomb dropping from the warplanes and flattened the whole Facility... blood, dismembered body, and debris were splattered everywhere, chaos ensued, she can very well see wounded humans and vampires scattered everywhere fleeing from the devastating ruins. The horrifying visions terrified her.
She took a deep breath and released a deep sigh.
Major Miller glanced in the area where Jessy was standing. He must have heard someone sighing...strange but he can't see anything. He ignored what he just heard and just dismissed it as a product of his imagination.
He walked towards the door and exited the study room heading to his bedroom to take his afternoon nap.
He entered the bedroom.
After taking his medicine he put back the glass of water in the bedside table, he lies down on the bed and shuts his eyes preparing to sleep.
Then he heard a woman's voice whispering something in his ears when he opened his eyes, he saw a beautiful young woman with black hair peering at his face.
"Hello Major Miller," the woman said.
Then Major Miller closed his eyes again as if he was in a dream.

Legendary Farmer (available on Kindle July 2022!)
NOTE: Legendary Farmer is now COMPLETE. The first book, Clearing, was released on Kindle Unlimited July 5, 2022 with significant edits. I will post the first chapter of Clearing, as well as three chapters of Cuckoo's Dream, another novel in the LF universe, as a stub, with a link to the first book, so if you love LF and want me to be able to keep writing consistently, please go give Clearing five stars! In the VRMMORPG, Veritas Online, things are getting a little stale. Since the game launched, only one world- wide event has occurred, and that was a year ago.. The players are still having fun, but everyone agrees it’s about time for something big to happen. Everybody tends to forget that big things grow from small things, and little things are always changing in Veritas. The human country of Quarternell is at peace for the first time in... ever. Aspen, a former war hero, feels like he’s earned a quiet life together with his animal companions. They’re tired of fighting, and other people in general. They plan to live peacefully, far away from the city. As soon as Aspen figures out this farming thing out, he’s never going to go anywhere again. Unfortunately for Aspen, his country and his goddess aren’t quite done with him yet.Rouge the Rogue is a casual gamer in Veritas Online. She’s just a kid, and her focus is supposed to be on school and hanging out with friends. Emphasis on ‘supposed to’. She’s already pretty good at the school thing, and she doesn’t actually have that many friends. What she really loves is exploring all the cool ways the developers of Veritas found to make their game unique and realistic. Then she’s offered a very special quest, and an opportunity to go beyond the average player. She’s never been that much of a rule follower anyway....Clearing is appropriate for most ages. It has minimal foul language, no sex, and some violence. It is LGBTQ+ friendly. (P.S. IMPORTANT! This book contains very mild profanity, no sex, and is meant to be FUN. Yes, the characters sometimes think Deep Thoughts, and idealism pretty much runs rampant, but, in the end, I hope you just enjoy reading it. Laugh, cry, share it with your kids, read it to your dog, whatever makes you happy. My goal is for it to be accessible to everyone from ages 12ish on up, so you could definitely consider it YA, but with lots of big words because I don't believe in talking down to my readers.) Book Two: Harrowing (Starts after the original Chapter Fifty, now Sixteen, since I condensed chapters from the same perspective together.) Zoey has started her summer internship at Veritas Corporation, and she can honestly say that being an adult is boring. Until she starts learning secrets she was never supposed to know. In game, Rouge is finally making progress on her big quest. Apparently Duke Penbrooke took too long to return to the world, so the world is coming to get him... in the form of a few assassins. Aspen is going to have to face the life he left behind, and deal with the fact that it's not as easy being 'dead' as he thought. When what he'd hoped would be a short trip back to civilization to resupply turns into a whole lot more, he'll have to fight for his life, his friends, and his kingdom. Book Three: Sowing Rouge and Aspen have reached Bright, only to find that their enemies were already expecting them. They will have to quickly unravel the mysteries of who their opponents actually are, because they're already ten steps behind. Rouge and Aspen are finally home, but that doesn't mean they can return to their peaceful days of farming. Their enemies are hot on their heels and determined to destroy everything they've managed to achieve. Join them and all their friends for the final volume of Legendary Farmer.
