The Last Embrace Chapter 154

Jessy went to the clinic after Adam went back to his place to honor his commitments.
Inside the clinic.
"Good morning, Doc!" Jessy greeted the physician.
"Good morning, Jess! How many we have to schedule for blood transfusion today?" the doctor asked.
Jessy pondered for a moment. "Hmm... line up the first four...then let see if I can add two more on the list tonight. I will do blood transfusion all day long until midnight with the usual 2 hours interval each..." she answered.
"Good!" the physician said. "By the way, how do you feel? I mean... do you notice any changes in your body after each blood transfusion session? For example, weakening of joints...muscle... fatigue, headache, dizziness or anything that you don't normally feel?" he asked.
Jessy shook her head. "I feel nothing of the above mentioned, Doc. I am perfectly healthy, please don't worry about me, anyway, I will tell you right away if I notice that my body is weakening due to the blood transfusion..."
"That's good, don't ever hesitate in telling me, okay? So that I can give you a week-long rest! We will start the first one, shall we?" he said.
"Fire away, Doc," she replied smiling.
"I will get the first recipient from the next room," he said and walked towards the door.
"Wait Doc...how are they doing? I mean the recipients of my blood, are they doing okay?"
"Yes, they're healthy. We chose to have the old folks, the children and the women to received your blood first especially those whose bodies were getting weaker because our blood supply is not sufficient for all of us. There are vampires that if they can't get enough blood, their body starts to weaken, since our blood supply was rationed not everyone is properly nourished but we notice that once they were transfused with your blood they become healthy and strong after turning into mortals, you blood has some unique composition that invigorates their weakening cells," explained the doctor.

"So...how many weak vampires are there?"
"Out of 5k, we have 1k weak vampires that were composed of old folks, women, and children...they have the weakest immune system....although they were just being holed up in their respective rooms doing nothing since they can't go outside... still...even just mere breathing without doing anything laborious, still it requires a full nourishment for the body and mind to function properly, but the shortage of blood proves to be fatal to our clan and the weak ones will be dying one by one if they can't be transfused with your blood the soonest possible time. As of now, I have my assistant prioritize the weakest member of our clan first, they were the first batch to receive a blood transfusion from you," the physician elaborated further.
Jessy sighed.
"If we continue this pace...conducting blood transfusion between 3 to 5 vampires every day... when can we finished transforming the 1k weak vampires into mortals?"
The doctor pondered for a moment.
"Hmmm...with my rough estimate...it will take another 5 to 6 months before we can finish transforming all the weak ones," said the doctor.
"Up to this day, how many vampires we have successfully transformed into mortals?
"We have 580 newly transformed mortals so far... and they are all healthy, they have been eating human foods supplied by the canteen after the day of their conversion and they were loving the taste of human foods and no one is craving for blood," the doctor answered.
Jessy smiled. "That's good! Go ahead... Doc, please get the first recipient here and let's start the ball rolling for the day," she said.
"Okay," the doctor smiled and exited the room.
A moment later the doctor entered followed by a weak-looking woman about her age. She smiled at the girl that also smiles back at her. The doctor instructed the woman to lie down on the bed, then he set up the intravenous (IV) line and inserted the needle in the woman's vein to received the blood directly from Jessy.

After inserting the needle on Jessy's vein the blood transfusion process began and went smoothly as usual. Jessy's blood was more effective if it leaves her body and transferred to the recipient's body within minutes.
Thirty minutes later...
The first blood transfusion for the morning was over...time for Jessy's two-hour break.
Jessy gets down from the bed. "I'll be back after lunch, Doc!'
"Okay," the doctor nods at her.
"See yeah later!" she get out of the clinic.
She headed for the outer part of the Facility which is the human world. She walked briskly towards the canteen where her mother was already waiting for her in their favorite spot.
She entered the door of the canteen, it's crowded inside because the first batch of human workers was already eating their lunch.
She looked for her mother...
There she is sitting in the corner...her beautiful mother!
She walked towards her mother sporting a smile and sat on the chair beside here.
"Jessy...I already got your favorite food here, you can start eating now, I know you are hungry," Sarah said.
There's rice, stir-fried pork with vegetables, mushroom soup and grilled fish on the table.
"Thank you mother dear!" she planted a quick kiss on her mother's cheeks.
Jessy picked up the spoon and fork and began eating.
"You want water or soda?" Sarah asked her daughter.
"Just water, Mom," she answered.
"Okay, I will get you bottled water," Sarah said, she rose to her feet and went to the counter to get water. After getting the bottled water she returned to the table.
"Here's your water..." Sarah placed the water on the table.
"Thank you so much, Mom!" Jessy said.
A moment later...Jessy slowed down with her eating to have a chat with her mother.
"How's work, mom?" she asked.
"Same as usual," Sarah answered.
"Are you having difficulty managing the workers?" she asked.
Sarah shook her head.
"No. It's nice working with people who love growing plants. As you can see, we hired these types of workers because they love planting and growing plants. If you work with people who love what they are doing then you won't encounter any problems in managing them because they are working passionately with their heart. Overall, the workers here are a joy to work with, I have no problems with them, as long they received their salary every month to send back to their families home...and the management are treating them right, then everything is perfect," Sarah explained.
"I see...you are enjoying your work, Mom. I see a great passion in your eyes," she said.
Sarah smiled lovingly at her daughter.
Jessy roamed her eyes around the crowded canteen, she can hear laughter, chattering and great camaraderie formed among the workers. They wore happy and contented faces around them, which proves that they loved their job and satisfied with their working conditions. Then she remembered Major Miller the first person that she killed...comparing to the fate of the 5k human workers...it's now clear that she made the right decision in killing him no matter how unpleasant it is.
Sarah inspected her daughter's face. "Are you okay, daughter?"
The sound of her mother's voice broke her reverie. "Yes, I'm okay, Mother. I just remembered something..."
Jessy finished the remaining foods in her platter and drinks the bottled water until it's already empty. "Mother, I want to see father! I want to visit him in his workplace. Please accompany me later after my break in the clinic, okay?
Sarah smiled fondly at her daughter. "Sure!" she planted a kiss on her daughter's forehead.
"I'm done eating, Mother. Let's get out of here!"
"Okay," Sarah replied.
The mother and daughter duo exited the canteen.
Sarah went back to her office while Jessy headed down to the Middle part of the facility and continue the blood transfusion in the clinic.

A Broken Kingdom
After fighting a diseased ancient silver dragon, Oskar must solve a mystery that leads him halfway across the world in pursuit of answers. This story is based on a character from a tabletop roleplaying game. I realized that I'd spent quite a lot of time planning out his backstory, and decided to go ahead and write some of it down. Then I wrote more, and more, and realized that I had a lot more than any sane RPG player should write about their character...

But what will he do with a new opportunity to rebuild his leg with nanotech? Knowing he has to spend a year in the game minimum for something like this, he sets a goal to insure he doesn't go crazy (er) without having stuff to kill. This is a VRMMO story where the game is closer to zhan long than royal road with a few twists here and there. The world outside of the game is sci fi and has very little impact at least for the first year due to obvious reasons. No gore or explicit sex in this story, if cursing requires a mature tag I will add it later, this story is at best PG-13. Tragedy is for his circumstances and previous life, the game itself isn't tragic at all as it's just a game more or less.(This story will be put out alongside my main story whenever I feel like it for now, no set schedule at this time)
