The Last Embrace Chapter 323

Lying in her bed inside her room, Jessy's mind was troubled, she was upset, she kept remembering what happened to Leo. It would be an understatement if she pretended that she was not bothered by Leo's death. At some point, she blamed herself for not bringing him to the police station right away after she brought him home.
God, how many mistakes she had made today? Leo was dead, and two boys are going to jail because she failed to follow the queen's advice, if only she followed her order, Leo would still be alive in jail and serving his sentence paying for his crimes and the two boys would not become a murderer...
Her harmless intention to allow Leo to settle into his normal life for just a mere five days, cost Leo's life and the two boys' bright future were put in jeopardy because of her seemingly innocent decision, it pained her a lot, dammit! how can she made a big mistake!?
She can't sleep...she's been feeling restless in her bed...closing her eyes won't bring her the sleep that she was craving for. Her mind was bothered by the turn of events, she wasn't expecting a tragic end after she sent Leo home.
She rose to her feet and entered the bathroom and splashed water on her face. She was tempted to take a quick shower to freshen herself and hoping the soothing essence of water can help clear her mind and give her a sense of calmness.
She discarded her clothes and let the water from the shower cascaded on her head down to her body.
After fifteen minutes under the shower, her troubled mind cooled a bit. She changed into her pajama.
Time to get out of the bathroom and retire for the night.
When she exited the bathroom she was greeted with the sight of Adam, lying in her bed, smiling at her.
"Aw, you come!" she shrieked in delight, she jumped right into the bed falling into Adam's waiting arms. "I miss you!"

"I miss you too! That's why I'm here because I know you visited the condo earlier," he said.
Jessy raised her brows. "Huh? How did you know?" she asked.
"Because my dear, you forgot to turn off the lights!" he said.
She laughed aloud. "Yeah, I had forgotten to turn the lights off!"
"You won't make a good thief, instead you're a lousy one," he said jokingly and pinched her nose playfully.
She grinned. "I'm glad you're here. I can't sleep!" she grumbled.
"Ah, I see. So...tell me why you can't sleep? Let me hear what is troubling you. Start now... I'm all ears..." he encourages her to pour her troubles into him.
Jessy took a deep breath. "It's all about Leo, the guy I send home the other night. While your mother was erasing his memory she discovered that he was an abused child by his adoptive father named Jackson and then, later on, he was raped by him physically and verbally. Then he met Violet the woman he falls in love with, but that woman and Jackson got into a physical relationship that hurts Leo the most. He felt betrayed, then one day, he invited Violet to elope with him to a faraway land, but the woman was already pregnant with Jackson's baby and she chose Jackson for security reasons, she even insulted Leo. He was terribly hurt and snapped from sanity, he then lured her to the basement and killed her there, when Jackson arrived that night and went to find Violet in the basement Leo also killed him and locked the basement's door from the outside. Fast forward, after I send Leo home that night, there were some teenagers in the house and the boys beat Leo. I played a prank to teach them a lesson, unfortunately, they went back to Leo's house and shot him in the head with a gun, now he is dead and the two boys will go to jail because of my simple mistake, that is why I'm so deeply bothered by it and I feel guilty..." she buries her face into his chest feeling tormented inside.

Adam sighed and massaged her temple gently. "There is no need to feel guilty, Jess. You have done nothing wrong in the first place, your job is to send Leo home, you did what you need to do. Just that some shiits do happen in real life and you have no control over things. You didn't pull the trigger that kills Leo, you didn't instruct the boys to kill Leo either. Those were the things that were beyond your control," he comforted her trying to make her feel better.
"I just feel awful that things lead to another because I interfere..." she said sadly.
Adam planted a kiss on her forehead.
"Granting that you did...but as you can see, those two boys, with the way they acted, they will kill innocent people sooner or later with their bully attitude and reckless nature, it so happened that they killed Leo who is also a killer himself. Let me put it this way...justice finally caught up with Leo after all these years and he was killed brutally just like the way he killed Violet and Jackson. Regarding those two boys, they have criminal intent, they will suffer in jail for killing Leo, after they served their sentence they know better not to do anything stupid again or else they will suffer a grave consequence in the end. The only thing I can say is that...the end justifies the cause," Adam explained.
"So, you mean to say...it's better for the boys to kill a bad person than kill an innocent person later?" she just wants to clarify that part of his statement.
Adam shrugged his shoulder. "Yeah, sort of. People in his right mind won't beat a person just because they feel like it, they would not point a gun to a person who never did anything wrong to them. In fact, those boys were the aggressor, based on their nasty temper they will kill innocent people sooner or later, it's just a matter of time..."
Jessy was silent for a moment. Adam's explanation somehow made sense.
"Come here my love, I will put you to sleep. Just bear in your mind that God...made all things happen for a reason and even if we are gifted with power there are things that we can't change and we can't prevent and when they do happen, there's nothing we can do about them, let's just accept things with an open mind and keep hoping for the best. As long you're not doing anything wrong directly to anyone then you are guilt-free as a bird. Keep that in mind okay?" Adam wrapped his arms around her lovingly.
His eyes glanced at the wall clock. "Jess, it's already one o'clock in the morning. You still have to do blood transfusion tomorrow, I think you need to rest and have good sleep now. Please don't torment yourself with other things, okay? Just forget what happened to Leo, just think of him already resting peacefully in heaven. Besides, things already happened there is nothing you can do to turn back time and change everything, just let go of his memories, clear your mind beginning today. Can you do that?" he asked.
"Yes!" Jessy smiled sweetly feeling better now, she feels grateful for Adam's word of wisdom they melted her worries away. "Thanks for making me feel better," she said and kissed his lips sweetly thankful for his presence.
"I love you," he said softly.
"I love you too!" she replied adoringly at him.
They shared a passionate kiss for a while.
A few minutes later, Jessy finally falls asleep cocooned in Adam's sweet embrace.
