The Last Embrace Chapter 335

Jessy teleported into the city, she needs to buy some foods because tonight is a celebration because Jagger is no longer a vampire, he is finally a mortal being! If he continues to be dependent on her, one day, he will start confiding on her about his brother.
She went inside the KLC restaurant and ordered a chicken bundle which consists of six pieces of fried chicken, cola drinks, rice, and spaghetti.
Done with her purchases, she went inside the restroom and teleported into the forest, inside the treehouse.
She landed on the floor and yet Jagger was no longer lying on the floor, instead, she saw him standing near the window looking at the far distance.
"Hi, there!" Jessy said.
He turned his head over his shoulder and looked at her and then smiled. "Welcome back, Jess!" he said. He eyed the bag she was holding in her right hand with the KLC logo imprinted on it.
"Ah, this—?" Jessy put the bag on the floor and pulled out all the contents slowly. "Today is the 7th day of your transformation so it calls for a celebration! Sit down and join me in the feast!" she said.
The chicken bundle which consists of six pieces of fried chicken, four cola drinks, four rice, and three spaghetti servings were deliciously arranged on the floor.
Jessy took one thigh and took a big bite on the crispy fried chicken.
Jagger stared at the mouth-watering feast in front of him, salivating, he sat across Jessy and joined her in eating the foods.
One hour later.
There's still enough food left.
"Whew! That was finger-licking delicious fried chicken!" Jessy raves.
"You are right, it tastes amazingly delicious! The best thing about being human is the ability to eat all kinds of foods, unlike us vampires, we can only consume human blood and nothing else, we are forever lacking diversity in choices of foods," Jagger commented.

"Yeah, so I guess...by now you can adapt and adjust well to your human side," she observed his facial expression. He used to be pale white but now he already got some color on his cheeks, arms, and legs.
Jagger smirk. "Are you checking me out—?"
Jessy rolled her eyes. "I just noticed that you got some color now on your body compared before that you are so pale," she commented.
Jagger looked at his arms and other body parts, indeed, she was telling the truth, his skin color was slowly changing. He was finally a mortal, a human being, his fangs already gone. He looked back at Jessy. "By the way, if you arrived here in the treehouse and find me gone, I'm just around the corner hunting for my foods or in the stream getting drinking water. Don't panic or get worried if you can't see me right away. I have to start gathering foods and woods for my sustenance. I can't depend on you forever for my daily foods," he explained.
"Okay, as you wish," she said. She will respect his wishes.
Jagger's face fell sad for a moment.
Jessy saw the changes in his mood. "What's the matter? Why you look sad?"
"I'm just worried that you won't visit me anymore," pain continue to glimmer in his eyes.
Jessy smiled. "Don't worry, I won't forget you. I will just drop by anytime to check how are you doing, that is a promise!" she said.
"Thank you, Jess," he said feeling good again. "By the way, I just want to ask you something important..."
"What is it?"
"Does the king know that I'm still alive?" he asked, seriously.
Jessy shook her head. "No. I lied to them. I told them that you are already dead, that you didn't survive the fatal wound that you got from his spear that pierced your back," she revealed.

Jagger's brows furrowed. "You mean to say—you protected me from them? Why do you have to lie for me? Why you have to go this far to help and support me?" he was bewildered with her motive.
"I told you I had my reason. Besides, when I saw you about to die, I changed my mind quickly and save you with my blood. It was an instant reaction from me and not planned. Now that I saved you from death, I am responsible to keep you safe and alive as long as I can," she said.
"B-but what if they will know of my existence? And they still want to kill me, what would you do? Would you go against their wishes and protect me?" he asked wanting to know where he stands in all this.
"I will try my best to talk to them to spare you from death. Besides they will always listen to me," she replied.
Jagger was shaking his head. "You seemed to have forgotten that my minions killed forty of the king's men, that is a big sin already," he reminded her.
Jessy fell silent for a moment, then she spoke again...
"But they also killed more than a hundred of your men in the cave...both sides suffered casualties because of the decade long hatred and conflict between the two clans. Anyways, don't worry much about the king and his men. They believed me when I told them that you died because of your wound and I buried you somewhere in this forest. I'm sure they won't be looking for you anytime soon, you are safe here," she assured him.
Jagger fell quiet while staring intensely at her face. She saved him not for the reason that she likes him but because of something else. The problem is... she won't elaborate much about the exact reason why she saved him in the first place...which kind of vague to him. If it's for kindness, he might believe her but he feels that there's more... than her kindness. He was hoping he will discover her true intention sooner or later.
Jessy looked at the rope lying in the corner. "Do you need help with that?"
Jagger looked at the rope. "No need. I can do it alone. It would make me less of a man if I failed in making this simple thing such as a rope ladder. When you come back tomorrow, you will see my rope ladder," he said bragging.
Jessy smiled. "That's good," she said and went to the jug to check if it still has enough water so that she can go to the stream.
"Jess, you don't have to do that, I will do it tomorrow, besides there still enough water for me that will last the whole night," he assured her.
"Okay, as you say so," she quipped. She looked around the tiny house thinking of anything that she still needs to buy to make things easier for him. "On my next visit, do you have any request for me to buy for you? Don't hesitate to tell me, I will buy it for you," she offered.
Jagger shook his head. "Nothing. You already brought a lot for me, I'm grateful already. Starting today...I think I will survive on my own."
Jessy smiled. "Okay. Everything is looking good so far. You look healthy, and you still got lots of foods...so I will leave now," she said.
"Bye Jess, come back soon," he said, feeling the loneliness starting to creep again every time she goes home.
"Bye Jagger," she said and flew outside the window and hovered above the house. She inspected the surrounding area around the treehouse, everything looks normal.
Satisfied, she teleported back into her room in the Facility.
