The Last Embrace Chapter 382

Jessy was about to stand up when a guy suddenly slumped on the chair beside her, she raised her brows.
The stranger smiled shyly at her.
"I'm sorry if I startled you, Miss. I just want to have a company for tonight, looks like you also need one..." he looked at her face, looking like he was begging for her attention.
Jessy stared at the guy's face for a few seconds. "You want someone to talk to—?" she finally said.
The guy nodded his head. "By the way, my name is Liam and how about you?"
"My name is Apple," Jessy answered right away.
Liam grinned. "Nice meeting you, Apple!" he extended his right hand to her for a handshake.
Jessy shook hands with Liam.
"Are you from here, Apple?" Liam asked.
"Not really, I'm just new here in town. My family just moved here last two weeks ago," Jessy lied.
"I see... that is why I only see you here today. Is this your first time here in this bar?" he asked.
Jessy nods her head. "Yeah...nice place and the tacos here are tasty!" she raves.
The guy kept blabbing and Jessy listened to him attentively out of the sheer kindness of her heart.
"Have you experienced betrayed by your loved one before?" he suddenly asked.
Jessy shook her head. "No."
"Do you have a boyfriend?"
"Yes, I already had a boyfriend and our relationship still going strong..." Jessy answered.
"Lucky you. Me...I'm not so lucky. My girlfriend and I broke up last month because of this new guy that comes in her life and broke us part..." he said teary-eyed.
"Oh, I'm so sorry for your pain and loss," Jessy was feeling sad for this broken-hearted man. She was sadder that she will be leaving anytime soon and he won't have anybody to talk to.
Then out of the corner of her eyes, she saw newcomers entering the bar's entrance...three burly guys and one sexy lady.
"Damn! Why do they have to come here which is my favorite place to hang out!" Liam said gritting his teeth in annoyance.

Jessy saw the newcomers settling in table number three. "Do you know them?" she pointed her mouth to the newcomers.
"Yes. That woman is my ex-girlfriend and that guy who was holding her arm possessively is her new boyfriend, and those two guys were his bodyguards," Liam explained.
"Ah okay," Jessy said. "Liam...I'm sorry I can't stay longer and talk to you. I need to do some errands before I go home," she said. "Would you be okay—if you're alone here?" she asked.
Liam's face turned sad.
Jessy saw the newcomers' attention was shifted on them.
"I will go with you outside, this place no longer feels nice after seeing those parasites in the next table," Liam said in a hard tone.
Jessy and Liam stood up and left their table, they have to pass on the table occupied by the parasites on the way out...Liam was walking behind her.
Jessy looked at the men's faces. When they were already near the table, the leader innocently jutted his foot on their way wanting to trip them. She saw it first and she successfully avoided it but Liam was not so lucky...before he fell flat on the floor Jessy caught his arms instantly and steady him. "Watch out on your steps!" then she glared at the perpetrator behind them and continue walking towards the door.
"That's some feisty woman in there!" one of the men grinned.
A burst of boisterous laughter ensued.
Before Jessy exited the entrance of the door she glanced at the men that look like parasites to her one last time and gave them an icy glare. "Bully!" she gritted her teeth in anger if she wasn't careful enough she might already have stumbled to the floor, worst, face flat on the floor.
They get out of the entrance of the resto-bar and began walking on the sidewalk.
"Apple, come with me to my car, I will send you home," Liam offered.
"Ah, no need. I need to buy cashew nuts for my mother on that 24/7 grocery store over there," Jessy pointed her fingers at the store a few meters from them.

"Okay, I will go with you, I also need to buy some stuff," Liam said.
They entered the grocery store and bought what they need.
A few minutes later, they exited the entrance of the store.
They come face to face with the three bully outside the store, the woman that was with them inside the bar was gone.
Jessy sighed. It seems trouble loves to catch up with her all the time.
Jessy and Liam continue walking forward ignoring the men. When they turn around in the dark alley...
The guys were still after them and they were walking faster overtaking them...they were now blocking their way.
"Guys, would you mind accompanying me in my car over there?" the leader commanded them, looking at them menacingly.
Liam glowered at the leader. "Just leave the woman alone!" he stared bravely at their faces.
"No! This feisty woman will come with us...I don't like the way she looked at me inside the bar. She looks at me like I don't have balls...I will show her my balls!" the leader said diabolically, grinning from ear to ear.
The men around them laughed, the kind of laughter that sends shiver on any woman's spine.
They, they come closing in...leaving no room for their victims to escape...and a black van suddenly stopped beside the street and they were being pushed inside the van forcefully.
Inside the van.
Jessy and Liam were shocked to see guns being pointed at their heads.
The audacity of these men!
Jessy saw fear flashed on Liam's eyes, his body was shaking in fear. "Relax," she whispered to him.
The men around them laughed.
"Are you urinating now on your pants, boy?" asked one of the men.
"This woman here is braver than you," one of the men commented.
Jessy smiled slyly at the men around her. "You guys pick the wrong woman to bully...I am Bruce Lee's descendant..." she falsely claimed, then she laughed aloud hysterically, amused by her lame joke.
The guys around them laughed as well finding her joke outrageous.
Then Jessy looked at the men's faces seriously and sighed deeply. "I will give you one last warning guys...stop this car and let us go...and I'm willing to forget and forgive all of you," she said getting impatient.
"No way! You have a big mouth for a woman who looks like a fragile doll, you have such a feisty attitude. We will teach you a lesson once we will arrive at our destination!" the leader said menacingly.
Jessy felt annoyed. She needs to go back to the Facility for the blood transfusion, she can't waste another minute bantering nonsense with these idiots who have nothing worthwhile to do with their lives!
"Time is up! Bullies!" she grinned and look at everyone around her...freezing them...including the driver and Liam.
Everyone was already frozen, Jessy teleported the vehicle into the ocean...the vehicle landed in the water with a big splashed...the water instantly seeped inside the vehicle from every direction, soaking wet Jessy's clothing in the process. Before the car starts to sink...Jessy holds Liam's arms, made themselves invisible...she unfreezes the men and teleported herself together with Liam back into the area in the dark alley near to the store where they bought the cashew nuts...then Jessy unfreezes Liam...she then zoomed back into the ocean to see how the bullies were faring in the sea.
Back in the ocean.
Jessy watched the men as they were scrambling out of the sinking vehicle, they start swimming up in the surface of the water and swam frantically for safety towards the shore.
They were progressing nicely.
'Looks like they are good swimmers,' Jessy said to herself. She hopes this incident will stop them from harming and bullying innocent people again, if not she will come after them, and next time she won't be merciful to forgive them!

Blood Quest - A LitRPG
Leon's family has been diagnosed with a new type of incurable blood disease. It's an absolute death sentence and when it turns aggressive, you only have a few more years of painful life left to live. His mother has just begun the last years of the disease when a person supposedly comes back from death with supernatural abilities. He talks about a choice you get after death--get an extra chance to come back to life, or die. Even with Leon's diminishing life span, he won't consider the option of going there, until he meets another survivor who had the same goal as him and succeeded. Leon has a choice to make—die now for a chance to save his mother, or die in a few years, where the disease rapidly melts his muscles from his own body. He enters a game-like world, a sort of limbo, where his ultimate goal is to climb the tower of Katastroph before his mother's time runs out. There are a few problems with this though. The tower is almost impossible to beat, if you die you won't revive, and only three people in over twenty years have actually made it back. Leon has two years to climb the tower, with the help of the few people willing to try, while Ai, the tutorial guide, makes things harder for them. ***** The story starts pretty dark but goes onto a lighter tone. Then (more) dark again. Disclaimer: This story is an experimental project and I hope to get any and all feedback you can give me. Warning: First draft. Chapters tend to be between 3400-4100 words long (about 8-11 A4-pages). Mentioning it since I've seen it in other fictions :P Sometimes they're shorter, sometimes they're longer. ******************************** CHAPTER RELEASES UPDATE: As the first "book" in the series is done, I'm going to release coming chapters somewhat sporadically, and when Writathon ends, I'll probably go back to publishing one chapter per weekend. We'll just have to wait and see! I hope you enjoy the story! I really appreciate all comments and feedback, so if you have anything to say, feel free to voice it :) ************ [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]

Not Another Isekai RPG Story Alternate
The story ends at Alternate Route Finale. Ch 2-2 and on can be treated as Extra Chapters. I still hadn't edited that one and it's low on priority. I may come back to it if I'm in the mood. Most of the portions of the story will NOT focus on the skills, stats, grinding or battles. More about the dialogues (or the internal monologues) and the MC interacting with the world (or glitching, if you name it.). ... With parts of his memory lost, Takeshi, a 25-year old lazy office worker was transported to a game world. Using his casual knowledge on video-game mechanics, join Takeshi's journey as he discover more about the world, his companions and himself. (only if you're interested though.) My personal review: from ch-2 on expect a lot of perversion going on. It can be pretty weird, like the MC want to be a girl and Y*ri other girls, Fut*nari folks, Traps, the mention of t*ntacle monsters and some lulzy display (like shoving a morning star up someone's b*tthole in retaliation). In here, the MC will discover new things as he kept on exploring and trying different stuff. This story will mostly be character-driven. Explanations about the world and its mechanics was kept to a minimum. The MC's on the shameless side with not much real-life common sense (maybe) and he's (probably) not righteous at all. The other characters can be pretty weird as well. It won't focus on romance. Well that's about it.

Flashback: Siren Song
The year is 1969. Yancy Lazarus—bluesman, gambler, future world-class mage and fix-it man—is just a dumb, unlucky kid serving with the 3rd Battalion 3rd Marines in Vietnam. With just a few weeks left to go until Yancy gets shipped back to the States, he’s just trying to keep his head down and avoid a body bag—no mean feat in Nam. But when his squad is tasked with conducting a routine patrol deep in enemy territory, everything goes to nine kinds of hell, and he quickly sees his chances at survival slipping away. When the radio operators start to pick up some funky, dirty ol’ blues all the way out in the backcountry, it’s a nice change of pace. At least until the men in Yancy’s squad start losing their minds, turning on each other with murderous intent as the music works its deadly power within them. Convinced it’s some kind of new psychological warfare initiative, the squad leader forces the men to push deeper and deeper into the Vietnamese jungle, obsessed with locating the music’s source. What they find, however, isn’t some new technology, but an ancient spirit awoken by the terrible war. Even worse, the music is changing Yancy too, awakening something buried inside of him. Only one thing is certain, nothing is ever going to be the same.See how it all began … *** PRAISE FOR SIREN SONG:Hunter's writing is as low-down, gritty, and insidious as the blues Yancy Lazarus loves. Just like the mysterious music drifting through the jungle toward Yancy's squad, Siren Song will get under your skin and sink its hooks into your mind. —eden Hudson, Author of Halo Bound (the Redneck Apocalypse series) *** Hey everyone, this is James Hunter. This story isn't a full length novel--its a novella length work (25K words), and is part of my Yancy Lazarus series. Its already free on Amazon, so I thought I'd post chapters here for the good folks of Royal Road.
