Necromancer: Divine-Level Summoning Chapter 8

"Silence!"
Pa!
After shouting, Azula saw that her warning did not work and slapped the table. The entire classroom instantly fell silent.
"Why are you guys chattering about? What's there to be proud of?"
Azula pointed at Cromwell and Jefferson and angrily spoke.
"Don't think that your current magic power is high enough to be ranked at the front would mean that you will always be at the forefront."
"Let me tell you, the initial magic power value can only represent your past, but what truly represents your future is the hard work you've put in, the sweat you've left behind in the Sky Blue Border."
"Once you slack off, you will be caught up by the people behind you."
"When the time comes, what face do you have to boast here?"
Upon hearing her cold remark, Cromwell and the other students immediately lowered their heads.
But in their hearts, they did not think much about this matter.
In the past few years, they had heard too many such words from their teachers.
In their eyes, their starting point was already much higher than most people.
As long as time continued to pass, the gap between them and the other students in the class would only widen.
It was impossible for them to be surpassed by students who were ranked lower than them.
Magic cultivation was not like learning poetry. It was not something that could be done well just by practicing. It required talent. Only true geniuses could walk far down the path of magic.
As he thought to himself, Cromwell flexed his shoulders disdainfully.
He thought that Azula would not notice his small action, but he was wrong.
"Not convinced? Cromwell, stand up!"
Azula's voice suddenly rose by an octave as she pointed at Cromwell's nose and ordered him to stand.

"Do you think you're very impressive just because you're ranked first in our class?"
Azula said bluntly as he saw the unconcealable pride on Cromwell's face.
"I can tell you without any exaggeration that you're not the strongest amongst the newcomers. You've long been left behind."
"Yesterday, under the witness of countless people, they had already witnessed a Mage who could summon two creatures."
"And you, with your magic power as an apprentice mage, can you even release any standard Rank 2 spell?"
"Let's not talk about other things, just the standard fireball spell will do. Come on, cast one now. Then you can be as proud as you want."
Azula looked at the people in the classroom as she coldly snapped.
...
The classroom was dead silent. Everyone stared in disbelief.
"How is that possible? I don't believe it."
"We can't even release magic, yet this person can summon two creatures."
"Where did such a genius come from? To already be an intermediate mage at such a young age."
"To be able to summon two summoned creatures, this person's magic power is probably many times more than ours."
...
After registering yesterday, Cromwell and Jefferson had immediately returned to their dormitory.
This was the first time they heard such news.
Prior to this, they thought that they were one in a million geniuses since they were the top two students in the class.
At this moment, hearing Azula's words, their confidence felt as though it was hit by a meteorite.
"Teacher, this can't be real. How can someone summon two creatures when they just arrived?"
Cromwell still had the pride of a strong man in his heart. He was a little unwilling to believe it. He held back his fear and asked Azula.

"Hmph, do you think I'm the kind of person who would lie just to provoke you?"
Azula asked coldly, her tone bitingly cold.
"No, no, no. I didn't mean that."
Cromwell waved his hands in denial. As he spoke, he took two steps back and knocked over the chair.
Looking at Cromwell, who had lost all confidence, Azula felt a sense of care.
Forget it, I won't hurt him anymore.
Azula was just like a gentle older sister. Even though Cromwell, whose confidence bordered on arrogance, was annoying, she still decided to take care of his ego. So she lowered his voice and spoke gently.
"When you were registering yesterday, a student stood in a corner and summoned two Black Warriors."
"This scene was witnessed by many freshmen and senior students."
As soon as she finished speaking, everyone sighed endlessly.
However, at this moment, Keaton, who was sitting at the corner, smiled in a strange manner.
Field, Registration Office, Black Warriors.
Wasn't that referring to himself?
These people actually think of me as a genius. I really want to see what kind of expression they will have when they find out the truth.
A bad idea came to Keaton's mind. He was looking for an opportunity to make his classmates die of shame on the spot.
And at that moment, Audrey, who was sitting beside the bookstore, leaned over and asked a question without any fear of her impending death.
"Hey, Keaton, don't you think that guy's Magic Power is very high? Otherwise, he wouldn't have become an intermediate mage so early and even summoned two Black Warriors."
Upon hearing Audrey's question, a look of extreme disdain instantly appeared on Keaton's face.
"What's so great about that guy? Is he that awesome just because he can summon a Black Warrior? I don't think so."
"I don't believe he's an intermediate mage. From what I see, that kid's magic power is probably lower than yours."
Keaton had said that on purpose. He was digging a grave for Audrey.
At that moment, he could already picture Audrey's reaction in his heart. The moment she found out that the summoner who summoned the two Black Warriors was him, her expression would be interesting to behold.
"What nonsense are you talking about? To be able to summon a Black Warrior, one must be an intermediate mage. How can my magic power be higher than an intermediate mage?"
"You're just jealous of that genius. Let's not talk about it. I can understand your feelings. After all, you're the last, and I'm the second last."
Audrey wasn't angry either, because when she heard the news, she had felt envy, jealousy, and hatred in her heart. However, she didn't express it as directly as Keaton.
"Okay, you're right. I'm just jealous of that guy. I'll come clean."
Keaton looked at Audrey teasingly. At this moment, he was filled with anticipation for the upcoming year.

Chronicles of Xod (returning from hiatus)
After a long recovery over a chronic motion sickness issue, I feel I'm ready to return to writing this book. It might be slow at first, but I'm hoping to pick up where I left off. I apologize again for the long hiatus. The pages following are a true account. An account of how I, Josh--a teenage nerd from modern suburbia--ended up in a strange world filled with fantastic magic, bizarre creatures, and terrifying dungeons. Despite the troped-up fantasy feel of the world, this is hardly an ordinary tale. For one, don’t expect a happy ending. With the trials I’ve been through, the horrors I’ve seen and the atrocities I’ve committed, believe me when I tell you, this is not a happy tale filled with friendly rainbow bears or teenage flying unicorns. It’s more likely you’ll finish this book mentally scarred as I will not spare the details of my unfortunate adventures. With the help of my trusted companion Gui, I gain an insight that no one else in the world has. This knowledge allows me to exploit and, for lack of a better term, metagame the system which gave me a clear advantage over its residents. “With great power...,” someone might begin to quote to me. In my defense, I think maybe even you, reader, might have acted similarly with how this reality changed my view of good and evil. This story will be updated regularly on Wednesdays around 6 PM. There will only be about 1000 words per update. The focus is to finish the story before doing any major changes or editing. Please read as if this is a work in progress, not a finished product. Feel free to let me know if you see any error, whether glaring or minor. If you help me out, I'll be sure to add you to a thank you list at the front of the book when it is published. Chronicles of Xod is a first-person fantasy novel that follows the adventures of a young man from Earth. Through unknown circumstances, he finds himself in a fantasy world where life is not all wonders and happy endings. The story takes common fantasy concepts from my favorite video games, books and movies and gives them an adult edge. It also introduces some taboo concepts often glossed over by stories written for broad audiences. The style is meant to be immersive and heavily detailed. The short novel will be written in a way that attempts to bring a sense of realism to an unrealistic genre. Where there are realistic consequences and dangers in a world populated with violent monsters, cruel demons, bloodthirsty undead, and immoral bandits. In this fantasy world, the inhabitants are essentially gender blind as far as sexuality is concerned. There is also more variation amongst male and female physiology. This isn't meant to be any kind of promotion or demotion of social behavior in reality. Just a concept I thought would be an interesting idea to have in a fantasy setting. I highly discourage anyone from reading this material if you are personally concerned with being offended or traumatized. Both violent and sexual content will be graphically detailed. All characters involved in sexual scenes are mature and of the age of consent(18+).
