Arranged Marriage To The Princess Of The Red Scorpions Chapter 6

The conversation was cut short after Lena's comment by the announcement that dinner was ready. Samuel was extremely thankful for this as he wasn't sure exactly how to respond to the girl in front of him. At the mention of food she seemed lose interest in him and left the room in the direction of what he assumed was the kitchen or dining without another word.
Samuel took a few seconds to straighten himself out and breathe in hopes that his face wouldn't be so red by the time he got ready to find the dining room himself. he'd only spent a few minutes with her and he'd already started to feel the resolve he had attempted to build up dissolving.
He managed to find the dining room with Clive's help. Aside from the rather long table set in the middle of the room with only a few people seated at it and the generally of the dining room, it looked more modest then he had expected. Rather than speaking of money and power through the decor, the feel was more intimate as though someone had attempted to give it a more familia feeling.
The chairs looked to be far more comfortable than what he had imagined dining chairs to be based upon what he grew up with. Sitting down rather than sinking, the cushioning in the brown chair shift to mold around to make him feel like he was sitting on an extremely comfortable cushion.
The chairs matched the grey thick curtains that covered the windows as well as the dark carpet. The only expensive looking items in the dining room were the two chandlers that hung above the table which by look Samuel had guessed were custom made.
He felt a little awkward sitting at the table as he didn't know anyone and because he was considered the fiancé of the eldest child of the boss, his seat was at the top on the right of the table. At least though it was across from where Lena was sitting rather than right next to her. Samuel somehow didn't feel as though he could trust the girl to keep her hands to herself after what had happened earlier.

Despite the size of the table and the amount of good laid out across it, there was only a handful of people seated. The boss, who's name he learned was Zane Scarlet apologized for the absence of his second child, Leo who was away on a business trip, but would be returning tomorrow or the next day.
Eating began while Zane introduced everyone at the table. Samuel wished he had his phone or a notepad to write everyone's name down.
There's was Zane's younger brother Julian, his wife Laura and their two daughters, Zoe and Lisa. While the brother looked as intimidating as Zane, the two daughters looked much tamer compared to Lena. There was an aunt Jessica, cousins Zeke and Zion, Clive and a woman named Candice whom he wasn't if she was his sister or wife, and six others he'd have to be reminded about later. Samuel felt even more overwhelmed when learned that this was only two thirds of the family and he hadn't even learned the names of the rest of the staff and anyone else who lived there.
Following the introductions, he was bombard with a number of questions about himself, hobbies, goals, family, plans for marriage among other things which he tried his best to answer around eating. Except for one time when Lena spoke up to say that his goal to eventually become a mathematician or accountant sounded boring, Lena kept to herself.
Samuel couldn't complain too much about the meal, the food was excellent although he was unfamiliar with many of the dishes he tried and overall everyone seemed nice enough to him thus far. A part of him hoped that the kindness wasn't just because of his potential position and the fact that Zane was there. He wasn't used to such a large family, but felt that considering the fact that there was a lot of power behind being the boss of the Red Scorpions that there probably was some family fighting even if it was behind closed doors.

By the time they were all finished and had taken some time to talk after dinner, Samuel learned that although it was still rather earlier, everyone either retired early or had to leave to finish some business or other that he wasn't yet privy too. Lena was the first one to disappear after Zane. This actually made him happy for now because it meant at least for tonight, he could take the time to organize his and update his parents and maybe not even have to worry about bride to be until the following day.
