Lena felt immense satisfaction for Genson's bad mood when he came into work on Friday. Even though it was short notice, he had no problem starting right away since it meant he would get paid sooner as he had still ben staying in the area while waiting to her what he decision would be.
He did come in at seven in the morning as she had requested and by the time she and Samuel had gotten to work, he had already introduced himself to quite a few of the other employees who worked there. His initial mood was good as he was fitting right in with everyone and figured that if he did an above board job that he might be able to bargain for a higher pay if the job could be done in record time.
His mood damped though when Lena called him into her office after she and Samuel had gotten settled in. She was ready to tell him what his actual role would be while he was there and to have him fulfil her first request for the day.
"Personal assistant? Are you being serious?" He asked, his charming smile faltering slightly after hearing Lena explain what she expected him to do while he was working there.
"I speak with complete honest and I believe I spoke clearly enough for you to have heard what I am expecting of you." The princess replied with a completely neutral expression her face even though internally she was enjoying knocking him down a peg.
"You do realize that throughout the years of working in may different positions because of my skill level and experience that I have never held such a role before." Genson obviously protesting what he was being asked to do.
"That's good then, it means you'll be able to add a new experience to your resume." Lena replied as she turned her attention to computer screen.
"Now, are you going to keep standing there and protesting the predicament that you find yourself in or are you going to go pick up the drinks that I requested? You could still quit if you don't like it, but you know that would mean you wouldn't get any pay." She scrolled through her email while talking. She was always surprised by how many new emails could add up even though she had just been in the day before to take care of a number of other ones.

"As you wish, Ms. Scarlet. I will be right back with them as you request." He said through gritted teeth without letting his smile falter. He couldn't deny it was one of the more humiliating positions that someone of his experience and power level had found himself in, but if this was all she expected of him, he could comply until he finished the job. It would give him incentive to figure out the issue sooner.
"Another thing. Change the way you address us as well. I don't care how you talk with any of the other employees here. However, I expect you to address me as Princess and him as Young Sir. Also, unless you are called or there is something urgent you need to report to me, text or call me before you come into the office. I have a lot of meetings coming up over the next week and don't want to be interrupted during them." Upon hearing this, she could see his shoulder's tense after he had turned away from facing as he got ready to leave to bring back the drinks that she had requested.
"As you wish, Princess." he replied before heading to leave the office. He was obviously even less thrilled than he had been a few moments ago and this made Lena pleased. Now she would just have to keep an eye on how Eve was doing.
"You think you're taking things too far at all?" Samuel asked after he was certain Genson was gone and wouldn't be able to hear the conversation that they were having."
"Not at all." The princess simply replied.
"He might not like it at firs , but I'm sure that once gets into the routine of how things will go that he won't have a problem keeping up with it. It's not like I intend to ask anything ridiculous of him."
"Wouldn't it be bad though if he quit because he doesn't think this fit into the job that he was expecting to take on?" Samuel didn't really think that it would be that big of a deal when he and the princess had talked about the day before, but Genson seemed more annoyed over it than he had expected him to be. Lena however scoffed at what he said.
"So long as I'm agreeing to pay his full price and there's a reward dangling in front of him, he won't quit until he gets what he wants. He might never want to work with us again after this, but he won't quit over just this." She assured the other knowing all too well the kind of person that Genson was. She had never worked with him before but was well aware of what type of person he was and how much power she could leverage over him without him quitting.

Since they were looking into what had been going on with the finances in the business from months earlier, Lena had shifted Samuel to focusing on the most recent budget to see if he could find any changes or patterns Over the last three months.
Based upon what he had found, it was an issue that had been going on before Zane had turned the business over to his daughter which meant that it had nothing to do with anyone being upset with the shift in authority and thinking that they could take advantage of someone they deemed as having less experience taking over.
It was no surprise to Lena that her father wouldn't have noticed such a thing, he had been focusing on too many things at once over the past year and there was less time for him to spend keeping up with every aspect of the transportation business. He hadn't been too worried though as he had been certain of the fact that the people he had put in charge of it were loyal and would help him to keep it afloat while their CEO focused on other matters. Somewhere along the line though, it would seem he made a mistake with someone he hired.
It also wasn't that huge of a problem, at least so long as they found the person behind everything. They could get compensation back and work towards creating a better structure for the system. The princess was already wondering if their was aspects from John's business that she could incorporate into the one that she was working on. With the partnership they had going on there would also be a mild increase in revenue for her business as well.
The work silence was broken when Samuel's phone started ringing at the exact same moment that Genson had knocked and entered the office having returned with the drinks that had been requested. Glancing at his phone and seeing that it was the jeweler who was calling him, he knew that he had to take the call.
"Sorry, I will be right back, I need to take this." He told both of them as he stood up from the Sofa.
"Genson you can leave my drink right on the table, thank you." He said as he stepped outside of the office so that he could go back to the employee breakroom that he had used before when J had called him.
"Will do Young Sir." he heard Genson say before the door closed.
"Samuel was honestly thrilled that he had gotten this phone call. As the days had been going by and it was getting closer to the date of the engagement party, he was worried because of the back order that it might not be done on time.
"Hello?" Samuel asked answering the phone once he was in the breakroom.
"This is Samuel Foster that I am speaking with, correct? The one who had ordered the promise ring for his fiancé?" The man clarified to make sure that he was talking to the right person.
"Yes, this is him. Is it ready?" He asked trying to hide the excitement in his voice.
"Yes it is, that's exactly why I am calling you. I do apologize for the delay, but it is complete and ready to pick up at your convenience." The man replied, a smile in his voice as he spoke.
"Would it be possible to pick it up tomorrow?"
"Of course. I will be open until one in the afternoon however." The man replied.
"That's no problem at all. I think that I should be able to come in early." Samuel replied. He thanked the man once more before he ended the call. Hearing that news he could now breath a sigh of relief.
He was sure that Jeff would have no problem helping tomorrow. He would text him later though just to make sure that he could rely on the other to take him to the store to pick it up. He didn't think that Lena would have a problem with it either since she was going to be in the office anyways.

Legends of Balarel - A Leisurely LitRPG
Glenn Redwood has longed to become an Adventurer since he was a young boy, and has focused every waking moment on that goal since turning 14. Answering the challenge of the Gods of Balarel, he has fought Monsters, Leveled, and grown stronger. Yet the day before his 16th birthday, the day he will earn his dream or lose it forever ... the Gods have made a wager. And no mere mortal wishes to draw the attention of the Gods. ***** This is my crack at writing a leisurely LitRPG. My focus is more on telling interesting stories set in a world where people live under a MMORPG-like ruleset enforced by the Gods, and less on writing another story where the MC gets massive stat boosts every chapter before heading off to wreck the world. There will be plenty of blue tables (it’s LitRPG!) but my Adventurers are just starting out. This fic is about the journey, not the destination, so expect everyone to Level ... leisurely. Updates: M-T-W-Th. I’ll post 3000-4000 words a day, or 12000-15000 words a week. If this posting pace ends up being too much for me, I reserve the right to slow posts down a bit. Inspirations: Blessed Time (Royal Road) Is It Wrong To Try To Pick Up Girls In a Dungeon? (Anime) Trails in the Sky (JRPG Series) MC: My MC is a genuinely good person who’s both a talented warrior and tactically savvy. He prefers to solve problems without violence but will resort to force if necessary to protect his friends or innocent people. I’m tired of stories starring anti-hero MCs facing endless doom and gloom, so I wanted to write a nice guy with an adventurous spirit who helps people in a thriving fantasy world. That’s all.
