I Reincarnated As A Shinai Chapter 158

The group of guards and merchants heard a gentle voice giving them instructions.
They quickly looked around but did not see anyone…
"Boss, what should we do?"
The leader of the hired guard was asked by one of his subordinates… They noticed that the bandits were unable to move but they didn't dare to act rashly…
As the voice had said, they have to leave the place instead of finishing them off. It means that they only have enough time to escape…
He quickly looked at the merchants.
"Move!"
They did not hesitate to order them to leave the place. They left together with the people injured from the first carriage.
Although it is a shame to leave the materials from the flipped carriage, their lives were more important than these materials.
The carriages didn't turn around as they just steer clear of the obstruction in front.
"I'm Rahman from Silver Leaf Trading Consortium… Find me if you need help in the future!"
The young leader of the merchant's group shouted in hopes that he could meet his invisible savior someday. Of course, not only was he interested in repaying them but he also wanted to befriend a strong individual… or perhaps a group.
Exactly 60 seconds had passed before the bandits managed to regain control to their bodies
"W-what happened?"
The previously menacing leader of the bandit group nervously assessed that situation.
He has been doing this kind of work for three decades already but this is the first time that this has happened! They were completely helpless during the minute that they were unable to move!
"Boss? Are we now being targeted by an Arcanist?"
"Shut up! Find the one who did this!"
The leader has a large frame and has a huge axe on his back as his main weapon. He didn't draw it yet as he let his subordinates surround him.
They looked at the first bandit who died nearby and saw that he was pierced by something on his stomach.
However, they didn't see what pierced his body… It was perhaps dissolved already or it passed through the ground making it unnoticeable at this point.
Whoosh~
The bandit leader seems to have sensitive ears as he suddenly glanced in the direction where the invisible and flying wooden sword was before it pierced through another bandit…

"Aahhh! Help!" The bandit was mercilessly killed by an unknown arrow or perhaps a bullet.
However, this was enough to give a clue about their invisible opponent.
"An Arcanist? Hey! Whoever you are, I'm Ruthren the Pillager! I know a lot of people in the Arcanist Association… If you stop now and reveal yourself, I won't ask Sir Renzo and Lady Karen to hunt you…"
He threw out some names that Reiji didn't recognize. Nevertheless, they might be strong Arcanists but he didn't care about any of that…
"Reiji… Those two names… I remember them, they're both Third-Class Arcanists. I've heard about the two as they have been hunting for troll's blood for about two decades already…"
Surprisingly, Felix the Kris Sword was aware of the two Arcanists that have a connection with these bandits…
"Don't believe them… Those two wouldn't team up with these people… Even if they are, they wouldn't be able to quickly come here…" Felix added as he seemed to be worried that Reiji would hesitate by mentioning those names.
However, their worry was for naught… Reiji didn't stop his assault as he moved swiftly and became even more deadly in his every move…
Screams and cries were heard as the bandits died one by one…
Yerin and Jaymie were astounded by the sight of a single Arcana killing several humans equipped with Enhanced Weapons and some Magic Items…
Although they have the advantage of being sentient Arcana and possess three or more skills than the others, it doesn't mean that they can already fight and dominate humans on their own!
"Amazing… Is he one of those Mythical Rank Arcana?"
"Perhaps… You should ask him later." Yerin urged her friend. Although their rank must be kept as a secret, the strong didn't have to hide this at all...
Whom~
Finally, after three minutes of confrontation between the twenty bandits and a single Arcana, a wooden sword steadily floated above them as if he was observing the marvelous feat that he just did.
"So strong…"
They just witnessed a single Arcana using five or more combat skills… Aside from that, this is also the first time that they've seen a stealth ability that wouldn't be canceled even if they started hitting objects…
Normal stealth ability would be canceled once they bumped into something or they got too close with intelligent beings.

However, Reiji's ability was obviously in the top tier!
On the other hand, he also felt refreshed after fighting against this group… For most of the time, he was only able to practice against the jungle's beast and not to humans.
Thanks to this, he realized that one of his abilities that were not too effective against the beasts was actually very useful against humans…
As he was about to confront the last three bandits that have given up, he heard a voice in his mind.
'Reiji… May I ask you one thing about your ability?' Felix used a skill similar to Sense Link in order to speak with him.
Since the battle is already over and the last three bandits no longer have a will to continue their fight, Reiji didn't mind answering his question.
'Go ahead and ask…'
'Did you just used a Sword Intent?' Felix seriously asked. Since they were fellow swords, he was sensitive to these kinds of abilities.
Unlike the Sword's Will that can only boost the wielder's power, the Sword Intent was something that would boost the sword's power and emit something similar to Spiritual Pressure.
This is what he used to stop the movements of the bandits for a short while… In truth, if he used this against the Evil Beasts that he knows, it would only last for 5 or 10 seconds… However, Reiji realized now that when he used it to humans, it could last to a full minute.
It may perhaps due to their weak mentality, physique, and lack of defensive Magic Items, but it was still a good reference for the future.
The price of 570 Skill Points was worthy enough. Although it may take quite a long time before he can upgrade it again, it was still sufficient with his current status…
'Well… I didn't know that you'll recognize the skill… Do you also have a Sword Intent?' Reiji asked in return.
'No… I don't have Sword Intent but I have something similar is called Sword Territory… It is a low-tier ability but that's the closest I have… Anyway, I asked this because Sword Intent is something that only powerful Arcana would have… I guess you're truly a Blessed Arcana as they said. That's why you were able to meet the leaders alone…'
Felix said as he seemed to be quite observant…
Reiji only smiled, or perhaps nodded, as he turned his attention to the three weakened bandits…
"Just kill me… But I assure you… My friend would take revenge once they learned about this."
"Boss is right! We're not afraid of death!"
"Hmph… You're still hiding and controlling this sword from afar… Come out if you dare!"
The three bandits said and instead of looking at the floating sword, they were actually looking around to find the Arcanist that was controlling this flying wooden sword…
Reiji found it quite funny that they've never realized that he's a sentient Arcana and not just a weapon being controlled.
Instead of answering, Reiji decided to just do what he needs to do…
Suddenly, the three Sentient Arcana and the three Bandits saw the wooden sword glow with deep green light…
Then, the tip of the sword lit up even more brightly before it headed to pierce their heads…
Pah! Pah! Pah!
Their skulls were hit by the tip of the sword before a mark or tattoo appeared on their forehead…
Felix and the two other Arcana were confused as they saw that even though Reiji had burst with power just now, he didn't manage to pierce the bandit's head.
'What's going on?'
They wanted to ask Reiji about the problem but they suddenly noticed that the three bandits kneeled in front of the floating sword.
"Master… Please give us your orders…"
Yerin and Jaymie were shocked by their words. On the other hand, Felix trembled a bit as he looked at the scene in front of him…
"He—He just made a Sword Slave! I knew it… He's a Legendary or perhaps Mythical Arcana!"
Felix exclaimed as he felt happy that he gets to know a powerful Arcana…
Reiji smiled at the successful slave marking as he gave his first orders to the bandits…
"Do you guys have any means of transportation? I want to go north…" Reiji inquired. Although he wanted to claim the bandit's hidden treasures or perhaps loot the carriage that was left behind, free transportation is his current priority.

Humanity's End
Given a year to prepare by the mysterious ‘system’ for contact with the wider galaxy, humanity must work to ensure the Earth’s defense is ready to meet any challenge. Sadly, most of the world seems dedicated to tearing itself apart as the year-end deadline gets closer. The west is in barely contained Chaos, while the east descends into internal conflict and war. The Pillar Forts, one of the few successful projects of the United Nations headed by the United States, stand ready to defend humanity against any invasion that may come through the strange Connection Pillars that appeared on each continent. Massive steel and stone walls that surround the Connection Pillars. They are filled with deadly men and women trained in all manner of warfare, each trained in the newly acquired System with skills and magical abilities that they put to deadly purpose. Beside these brave warriors, tanks, helicopters, artillery and more stand ready to defend humanity at each of these powerful installations. But, can they overcome the disparity in levels and experience between themselves and the forces that threaten them and the rest of humanity? Main Characters Jessica Brown- A young African American girl. Her 18th birthday in Detroit was the same day the systems message appeared. She discovered she was Level 7, much higher than most of the rest of the world. Why she is blessed, or cursed, with the power she doesn’t know. But what she does know is that she rather likes the feeling that comes with manipulating magic. The week after her birthday, government workers started testing every person in the US in a massive census effort of skills and abilities. Jessica Brown found herself conscripted into the US Magical Corp, a new branch of the US Military, and shipped off to a Pillar Fort. Somewhere hot and muggy in her ancestors’ home of Africa. As she grows stronger, she finds she has some connection to the pillars. While everyone else sees beauty or danger when they look at the pillars, after connection is made all Jessica can see is a Tree. A tree the size of the entire universe. Isaka Smith - is a third generation American and farmer who just wants to be left alone. But she is dragged into the situation by events beyond her control. When people in her small town had to deal with rioters and looters after the system announcement, she rallied them to defend themselves, earning her a trait that the government found extraordinarily useful. After a visit to a local reservation, she finds herself conscripted to lead one of the many small support towns erected around the great pillar forts. Not near her old home, but in far-flung Africa. John McIntire, the “Fighting Bull” -The commander of the African Fort, but because of circumstances beyond his ability to contend with shortly after taking command after being re-activated from retirement, he finds communication with his chain of command increasingly difficult. The US government, hell, even the United Nations, seems to have fallen into complete and utter chaos. The African Union is embroiled in a bitter civil war just outside his door, and supposedly, most of the world governments are in similar situations. Meanwhile, John must do his best to be ready to facilitate diplomacy, or to match the hostile argument of whatever force might come through the pillar of light when the year timer finishes counting down. Can our heros defend Earth from outside threats, while it tares itself apart? Or will they need to rebuild from the ground up? DEDICATION: This story is dedicated to my father who passed away recently. Jim Holloway, you’ll be missed you old silverback gorilla. Love you dad. Always have, always will.

Stories Of Indlu
“… to grow, for opportunity, for adventure, to be free. Join the colony ship Nao Vittoria. Be the first to live amongst the stars.” It was obvious from the literature that the NextStar corporation wanted the young, the adventurous and the brilliant. So why were the super rich fighting over seats? Why were AI’s trying to stow away? Did this signify a premature end to human/AI civilisation? Why had some questions directed to NextStar been aggressively sidelined? Why did the colonist inflight entertainment trial produce fatalities? In fact, why colonists at all? Those and many other questions, however, boiled down to a single central question. Why was the world’s most advanced AI dumped with a hundred year babysitting job for 50 million people speeding towards an uninhabitable planet? It made such little sense. The only sure way to get answers, catch a ride on the Nao Vittoria and play the inflight entertainment game, Pax Domini. I joined, and this is my story. Well, I feature. OK, I’m more of a spectator. Actually, I’m completely irrelevant I was just there. I’m only the storyteller. But what a story to tell. --------- Hi All, Content will be published weekly usually Saturday and typical posts will be 25oo to 4ooo words per post. Though for some reason the Royal Road word count does not include the content of tables so some posts may not appear to meet this criteria. Currently I have written sufficient unedited content to keep this schedule for the next 12 months (half way through the first story arc). My current productivity would indicate that I can maintain this schedule for well into the second story arch. This also allows for the additional content that will be posed exclusively on Patreon (https://www.patreon.com/StoriesOfIndlu). This additional content follows minor characters, peripheral events, maps and other content that does not take away from the main story. I would love to accelerate the post schedule but to meet this I need the assistance of more beta readers than I currently have. So please let me know if you are interested. - Andy ©2022 Andy Leauter.
