The smell of blood filled the air, screams sounding every now and then, howls and beastly growls could be heard soon after, the apocalypse has come, that's what was on every human's mind

Well, all but one, who strolled leisurely among the quiet alleys, a limping dog following behind, barely keeping up with his pace

"If we keep at this pace we would have more than enough time to get there before they make it out the mall, but if we meet too many beasts we might be a little late"

He said to the dog knowing full well it couldn't understand such hard and long words, it didn't matter to him though, he liked to voice his thoughts, alone or with company

"Hmm, I feel like I had forgotten something important...Aha, I didn't give you a name!"

Turning toward the dog YuJu smiled, he liked naming things the most, to him giving a name meant creating a bond, perhaps not as personal as the Contract, but a bond none the less

"I would have directly called you Cerberus, but seeing as you are not meant to take that myth's mantle I would have to find a better, more unique name"

He synchronized the dog from top to bottom, it's size was average if taking into account the size of normal Hound beasts but compared to human standers it was rather big as it almost reached his waist, it had a rather lanky build, much like him, its yellow eyes seemed to give off a pitiful vibe with warmth hidden behind it, its reddish-yellow fur stood out the most as if it belongs to the endless sand of the desert

"You're giving me the vibes of a sad mother rather than a hound, you don't strike me as fierce or battle thirsty, rather a guardian or a keeper.."

He narrowed his eyes in thought

"Anput"

He smiled, then repeated the name to the dog, no, Anput

"Your name is Anput"

"Rargh!"

She barked in response, happily wagging her tail

Suddenly she saw YuJu slowing down, letting her match his pace, soon she was walking limply to his right

"When you hear me yell, jump back as hard as you can, then bite hard in front of you"

Anput took a few seconds but then nodded her head in understanding

After a couple of steps forward, YuJu yelled as he barrel-rolled forward

"Go!"

Anput jumped back with her healthy leg at that exact moment, she opened her mouth she saw a beast had already landed where she was, and another still falling from where YuJu was standing, right into her open jaws

"Eee!"

A high pitched scream came out the rat as it got mauled by Anput, dying only seconds after, but the battle wasn't over as there was one more rat to be slain

"Throw it at him!"

YuJu commanded Anput, making her throw the rats dead body toward the living one, catching it off guard as it stumbled from the crash, giving Anput enough time to close the distance, but not enough as her legs couldn't support her too well for a sprint, even one as short as this

Sizing the chance the rat turned and bolted toward the other direction, but a foot proved its actions futile, pining its tail behind it making it crash to the ground

"Rargh!"

With this Anput made it to the rat, mauling it with but one bite

"Good girl"

He patted her head and continued on, not giving the battle much thought

"I should check on my class now, though I am sure it got set on its own anyway"

He called for the status screen again, with a bit more anticipation than before

YuJu expected this, no he knew it, after all, there had been none other than the human race to have gained such a class, even when other races tried to obtain it nothing happened

Still, no one was jealous of the human race, quite the opposite, they had laughed their arses off at them, the reason? Well YuJu was just about to check it

Closing the notifications he opened the skill tab, what greeted him were four skills

If one didn't know better one would think that this was a great class, with all the soul talk and whatnot, but reality proved otherwise, as this was one of the, if not the most useless class ever, the reason being that these three skills were all there is to this class

"Truly a ridiculous class, I pity those who take it without knowing its consequences"

Even though he said so he was still all smiles, for he knew the real use of this class, or at least he hoped he did, for he had no solid proof of its greatness but after years of investigation he found this to be his best bet to reach the apex, a gamble, but he believed it nonetheless

The sound of steps was heard by the walking duo, it sounded like a mad beast running, but YuJu continued walking, even after seeing the coming beast, a large grey cat with a mouth full of bloody razor-sharp teeth, it was running without stopping, looking between its two new prays, and deciding on the tall human rather than the limping dog, he seemed more of a threat to it and had more meat anyway

It closed the distance within seconds and jumped at YuJu, mouth wide open, ready to rip his head off with one bite

To this crazy cat, YuJu merely sidestepped toward Anput, letting the cat tackle nothing but the air while he hid Anput's figure behind him

The feline looked at the human a little puzzled, to it these new creatures it had never seen before were weak, utterly weak, they only knew how to scream and run, and those who tried to fight back couldn't muster the strength to even hurt its skin, but their meat was utterly delicious, only some beasts could compare

But this human in front of it though had dodged it, quite easily at that, which made it cautious, still, it wouldn't let go of its food just because it could move a little swifter than others, so it dug its feet into the ground as it prepared to tackle it again

With a loud mewl, it shot toward YuJu like an arrow, its speed triple what it had used before, in response the cat saw the human merely smile before his face disappeared from its view

"?" Bam!

It before it could process were he disappeared to it was met face to face with a street lamp, banging its head into it like a bull would into a red cape, rendering it dizzy

As if that wasn't enough it felt a grip on its waist preventing it from falling down and reorienting itself, looking down it saw the human was hugging it while bending his back in a 90-degree angle, then he moved his smiling head to the side allowing a mouth to maul its life away

Thud!

Seconds later YuJu dropped the cat on the ground while dusting his hands, smiling satisfyingly to himself

"What great luck, a level ten sending itself this early to me, it must have known I needed to level up badly"

Turning to take one last look at the cat he shook his head if it had come when he had just contracted Anput he might have had to fight himself, but after getting one more level and dumping it into agility, plus his 2 points to all stats he could easily play with it allowing Anput to kill it instead, giving both of them a much-needed boost, especially Anput, who would be slightly healed when it leveled

"Wait, did the bonus apply if Anput killed it?"

Remembering that the bonus given to the human race on the first week might not work if his Slave killed it instead of him, so he hurriedly opened his status only to sigh in relief when he saw it had worked, as he had levelled up to four

Then he checked Anput's condition and found her to be limping a lot less, maybe another level up and she would be able to walk normally, sprint even

He opened her status, but was surprised to find her already at level five, he thought she might have had a level up as she could have been close to it before she came into this world but seeing her at level five he knew something was amiss, it took quite a few kills to get a level up in lower levels, not to mention the gains 50% of her gained exp as a perk of his contract

He looked at her Status to see if there was anything he missed, and surly he found it not a second later, on the upper right of her portrait there was a white icon, just like the one in his, when he pressed it popped up with the words "Exp Boost X4" "Skill Comprehension 100% Up" with a timer next to them, a week remaining in it

"She can share my buffs too? Surprising, I had never heard any other than linkers sharing buffs, and even they have demerits to it, this class has many secrets as I had thought"

He smiled and started to distribute points to Anput's stats, well less distribute and more of dumping them all into Insight, but he had his plans

He put his into agility, bringing it to a staggering 8.8, this might not seem a lot when a gamer thinks about it, after all, what could a level three character do? but one couldn't be further from the truth as one stat point equalled the average capability of a human body, an eight-fold of that is monstrous as even the fastest known man on earth before this day would barely be able to reach three if at all, still, that doesn't mean two points is twice as fast, that's not how it works, but rather a percentage of the base speed is added with each point, the reason humans have a base stat of one is that their physical bodies cant hadn't been baptized by mana, strengthened by strong supplements, or pushed to the limit

"Let's go, we can't be too late or else we will miss our chance"
