As A Cardinal, I Don't Do Overtime Chapter 169

Orthodox Church.
In the hall.
Behind the screen.
Upon hearing Eiffel's words, Monn suddenly had an idea.
He said, "If Asher wants to stay here, it's not impossible."
Eiffel did not answer.
He knew that there must've been a price to pay for Asher to stay here.
Otherwise, Monn wouldn't have suggested it, given the urgency in his heart.
But Asher wanted to stay here very firmly,
And Eiffel couldn't take her back forcefully.
Since Asher really wanted to stay here and play for a few days, then let her play for a few days.
Since the elves had nothing to do, it would be very safe for Asher to stay with the Orthodox Church.
There was no need for them to worry about her safety.
In addition, Asher was probably bored of staying with the elves.
That was why she ran out.
They might as well take this opportunity to let her relax outside.
Once Asher found it boring outside, she naturally wouldn't think about coming out again.
After thinking it through, Eiffel replied, "What conditions?"
Eiffel was very direct. He knew that Monn had conditions.
Otherwise, he wouldn't have let Asher stay here.
Monn listened to Eiffel's words.
Seeing that, he was very satisfied. He liked to deal with straightforward people.
Monn didn't use words to express it.
Instead, he raised his right hand and rubbed his fingers hard.
Eiffel immediately understood.
So it was money.
With Asher's appetite, she definitely broke a hole in Pope Monn's pocket.
Thinking of this, Eiffel smiled helplessly.
He looked through all his pockets.
He found that he did not have human coins with him.
After all, the goal this time was to bring Asher back to the elves.
Who would have thought that not only did Asher not go back, but he would even have to pay for her food?

He did not expect this.
He searched all over his body, only to find 36 decrees.
Eiffel held the 36 decrees in both hands and jumped.
He looked at Monn innocently.
His big, green, gem-like eyes blinked.
It was as if he wanted to beg Monn to give in regardless of the small payment.
Monn's face turned black.
He was very firm.
If he didn't have money, Asher definitely couldn't stay here.
Eiffel sighed helplessly.
He took out an emerald from his pocket.
He said, "This is the Crystal of Life of our elven race."
Eiffel held the emerald and said solemnly.
The green gem seemed to be emitting a life-like glow.
There was a thick fog around it.
This strange object instantly attracted Monn's gaze.
Eiffel saw this.
He then introduced it, "The Crystal of Life of our elven race has our group number, which is the number of lives formed by the Tree of Life."
Speaking of the Tree of Life,
Eiffel had a devout look on his face.
He continued, "This Crystal of Life only appears once every hundred years. At critical moments, even people who have completely lost their vitality can instantly come back to life."
At this point, Eiffel's face was full of pride.
"Almost the entire continent knows how powerful our Crystal of Life is. This is something that has a high price but no market. Other people can't even buy it even if they wanted to."
At this point, Eiffel handed it over to Monn with a pained expression.
This Crystal of Life only appeared once every hundred years in their elven race.
This time, they really sacrificed their prized possession
This was the first time Monn had seen a Crystal of Life.
He held it in his hand.
Although it was a crystal, it didn't feel cold in his hand.

Instead, it gave off a faint warm feeling.
It made his hand feel warm.
When he carefully felt it, he even felt as if it was beating.
This surprised Monn...
But Monn was indeed a little strange.
As Eiffel had just said, this crystal was priceless. Even if others wanted to buy it, they wouldn't be able to.
Then why did he use this precious Crystal of Life to substitute money?
Seeing the confusion in Monn's eyes, Eiffel was actually a little puzzled.
Her Majesty, the Elf Queen was the one who asked Eiffel to bring the Crystal of Life here.
She had even personally instructed that this was a gift for the Pope of the Orthodox Church.
She said that she wanted to thank the Pope for taking care of Asher.
But Eiffel was very puzzled.
Just because Monn had taken care of the Princess for a few days, there was still no need to give him their prized possesion.
Eiffel knew that there must've been some other reason why Her Majesty decided to give the Crystal of Life to Monn.
He couldn't help but look at Monn.
He thought of the feeling he had when he met Monn for the first time.
Monn was young and extremely powerful.
And because of this, Eiffel knew the reason why Her Majesty gave the Crystal of Life to Pope Monn.
Young and extremely powerful.
These two points meant endless potential.
Not to mention that he was the Pope of a human city that had been inoculated with their elven forest.
This was a greater reason for the Elves and humans to befriend each other.
They were all neighbours, so if anything happened in the future, they could help out each other.
Moreover, the Orthodox Church was very famous and righteous.
This could be seen from this matter.
This was indeed a very righteous church.
After thinking through the reason, Eiffel looked at Monn and said.
"Her Majesty, the Elf Queen asked me to give this to you personally. She said that the Pope has worked hard to take care of Asher these few days."
Hearing Eiffel's explanation,
Monn suddenly understood.
He knew that Her Majesty, the Elf Queen wanted to befriend him.
But he didn't know why the Elf Queen suddenly wanted to befriend him.
After all, he hadn't even met Her Majesty, the Elf Queen yet.
But Monn didn't think too much about it.
He probably thought that Her Majesty, the Elf Queen had heard news of him from somewhere.
Since it was a gift to show that Her Majesty, the Elf Queen wanted to befriend him, Monn accepted it as expected.
It's just a pity that this thing was a life-saving crystal and that it couldn't be exchanged for money.
As a result, Asher's food expenses still hadn't been settled.
However, since the elven race had already given them such a prized gift, he was too embarrassed to continue asking them for payment for Asher's meals.
This made him sigh deep down.
However, he still said, "I'll accept the gift, later on, I will greet Her Majesty, the Elf Queen. When there's a chance, I'll definitely pay a visit to the Elf Forest in person."
Hearing this, Eiffel smiled and nodded.
Accepting the gift from the elven race had meant that Monn had also accepted Her Majesty, the Elf Queen's friendship.
This made Eiffel feel relieved.
After all, knowing the Queen's true purpose, Eiffel had also personally sensed the strong power hidden under Monn's thin and scrawny body.
He had a rough estimation of Monn's strength.
He felt that Her Majesty, the Elf Queen had made a very good decision.

Take Two!
College student majoring in botany has a fateful encounter with truck-kun while trying to get back in shape after realizing that his freshman 15 turned into the sophomore 20, and then the junior 30. After going through a very amusing(to some) hell, he gets the chance to transmigrate into a body of his own design on a magical world. Playing to his strengths, he chose the Plantkin race, and the new name of Sorrel to match. This is a slow-paced, magical, slice-of-life story with a focus on relationships. There will be sex(I'll try to keep the explicit stuff to a minimum, but it will be there), swearing, really bad jokes, and enough food to spoil your diet. There will not be a lot of action, epic quests to save the world, or anything even remotely resembling a big-bad-evil-guy(a few smaller bad guys, sure. But, no BBEG). Note: This is a re-write of my first story "Congratulations, You're Dead!". And, is much more what I wish I had written in the first place. The characters and the world are very similar, with a few key differences. The story may borrow some elements from Congrats, but should be considered as its own work. Reading Congrats first is not needed, or even reccommended, not unless you want to see some really cringey romance in the early chapters.

This fiction won't be updated regularly due to my own circumstances and while I will try to update it often, I won't always be able to. That being said I hope you enjoy this little work of mine. I'm not an experienced, and don't consider myself a good author in any way. But hopefully some people will enjoy this fiction like I do writing it, regardless of that.
