Omni-Mastery Chapter 304

"Branched…?"
"Yes, as far as I remember, the organization that this coordinating seed belongs to, having stabilized his roots deeply within its power structure, is a major power in the domain that has a certain defining features…"
'Hmmm…'
"The most blatant one is that it's a power that has a lot of versatility, and they are highly branched in their power structure, which is also a major reason as to why the coordinating seed managed to slip into it easily."
'This…'
While I wasn't really that knowledgeable when it came to sects, I already had a guess in mind, but I couldn't fully confirm before checking more…
I was planning to do some research when I returned anyway, after all, I still had to pick that I would join, as the choice was totally up to me as the first rank holder.
"Anything else?"
The somewhat detailed description gave me a general idea as to where I would be able to find the guy, but there was no pin pointer and background info provided yet…
"I… remember that his code name was something related to fire… I also think that he is pretty much just a rotten branch of the organization as it isn't fully under demons' control, not yet at least… and before you ask again, that's all I remember, I don't have anything else…" Sprout said as he shrugged, indicating that he really knew nothing else…
'That's pretty impressive…'
For an isolated demon-morphed human, it was quite good already for him to know that much, though it wasn't like I didn't have an idea how it wasn't that hard for him…
'It's probably that retarded Overseer's fault…'
It wouldn't have been too strange if that was the case, since it seemed like the Overseer loved to abuse him and have him do menial tasks and keep him around him, it would instead be weird if he didn't manage to pick up something or two…

Nonetheless, the last specifications seemed like they would be of help so by now, I finally felt that my losses in the base were properly compensated!
'Now I have to deal with this guy…'
Having received the important info seeds that he had, all what's left was auxiliary information which weren't that important, but he might come in handy later, so I was obviously not planning on killing Sprout.
'He was quite helpful after all…'
"Alright, Sprout, I believe that you have contributed enough to keep your life."
I did want to start asking him about he turned into a demon and so on, but I could tell that it was a very sensitive topic for him that he might not agree to talk about even if I forced him, so I planned to wait it out for now...
"Sprout…? Is that supposed to be me? Do you really plan on keeping me alive…?" Sprout looked towards me in confusion, he was obviously still having second thoughts about his future.
"Yes, you satisfied enough of my curiosity to earn this…"
'For now at least…'
"Really? Would I have to follow you around as well…?" Sprout asked doubtfully, he could finally tell that I was actually serious about letting him live…
"Of course not, I don't like travelling with burdens, in fact I planned a pretty great place for you to live at…"
"Eh-"
After replying to him, I didn't leave him anytime to react as I was already standing in front of him…
'Let's fix this brain of yours first…'
I was naturally going to add some mental suggestions to restrict his acts.
'Let's see, making you work along the ordinary farmers in Green Earth Village shouldn't be too bad…'
Holding his head, I started sending in my mental energy threads into his mind space in an attempt to input the path that I planned for him…

However, as I approached the core parts of his mind space…
'As expected, this isn't going to be easy…'
The important parts of Sprout's mind were in shambles, it was like a total chaos fest was being held in it, just looking at it felt dangerous!
It was apparent that even though his current outer state and even his power level had deteriorated to being on the level of a normal human, his mind space seemed to be a mix of a demonified human's corrupted mind and a normal human's normal mind…
I couldn't help but wonder about how he was acting normally on the outside while his mind was in this state, it was quite inconvincible…
'Let's try first…'
While still holding the paralyzed Sprout's head as he already passed out, I tried to approach these distorted parts of his mind since I had to add my suggestions to them if I wanted the reformation plan to succeed.
'This…'
"Cursed child!"
"You don't belong here! Go back to whichever Dark Nest you crawled from!"
'Is it the memory that this distorted part holds…?'
Having tried to get in contact with the chaotic parts of Sprout's mind, I found myself having low point of view as I saw an classical angry crowd with pitchforks and fire torches all around me as they cursed and condemned the one that I was given his point of view as I could almost feel myself being overwhelmed by sadness…
"You are all the cursed ones! I never caused you any harm, yet all of you condemned my existence… you caused my parents' suicide and I'm also sure you were the cause of my sister's death as well… even the only girl who sympathized with me… you tortured her till she started joining you in your unmerciful acts, I remember her eyes that were full of hate as she looked towards me… Just why didn't you kill me instead of doing all of this?!"
I could almost feel the wet tears falling down my cheeks as I spat out these words automatically as it felt a bit similar to my memory synchro dreams, with the exception being that… this memory was obviously not mine this time...

The Book of Hickory
Now why did Hickory go and punch that Angel? Sure it spooked him, popping up right there at lunch, and yet, it wasn't fear that balled his hand into a fist - Cause wouldn't you? Wouldn't anyone - with a sick Ma at home, Da long dead, buried, all them prayers piling up on bruised knees, unanswered? Hickory was angry, all right. He was fierce, now - cause that Angel didn't show up to give no help, that Angel came by asking for it - with all that power just plain to see, the power to fix the world and all that ails it! And now look what poor Hickory has to do - to save the world? Now how is he supposed to do that when its taking near everything he's got - just to keep them chickens safe, Ma fed, and himself out of trouble - All he wanted was maybe just a dance with May, maybe a bit more, to hold her close? That she's sweet, now, a voice like an angel, but now she's over there lookin at him like he's more than a man. And that's not to say Hickory is bad, not all the time, not ever on purpose - just there are things a man has to - That drinking and fighting ain't wrong just as long as the chores are done proper first, that those parts of life that make it worth living ain't no sin, that loving a lady is proper and Hickory just has so much love to give! And May is special, right, sweet and soft, now she's sophisticated. That she wears her passion like a pearl necklace? That certainly Hickory would notice, naturally - that she's already spoken for, perhaps taken? That ever since Hickory came back, that all she can think about is swallowing - those strange feelings, because it wouldn't do, would it? For a Lady? But certainly she can worship him and still be seen with Weston Covanger? Because Weston needs May, that what happens in the Study is only half the battle, the Men's Business, and he's far too proud to settle for half of anything. That if he wants to move up the ranks of his family, to be more than a Covanger, to become the Covanger? He's going to need a woman in the Kitchen as well - he's going to need May. And if that seems a bit old fashioned? A bit too much like the Wild West? Well the West is starting to get wild again now that everyone starts to Drink. A different take on LitRPG where answers aren't given - they must be earned, discovered and fought for, one at a time. An orator style, a long read, filled with magic buildings, crafting, alchemy, but most of all - This is a story about the human spirit. About understanding what defines a person, their morals, their beliefs, and also faith when everything they understand becomes challenged - changed. So do they. People can change. They will. Just not always for the better, not always - sometimes. Sometimes that's enough. Sometimes that's even everything.
