The Ancient Genes Chapter 345

Max looked at his mom, there were many questions that he wanted to ask her, now that he thought about it, he had never met anyone from her mother's family until now. And going by Lithiya's description, they were common people.
But that didn't seem believable to Max now….Besides, the fact that she possessed a spirit….
'Could there be some connection to Ancient family? But, according to Master no one capable of wielding the artifact had been found and from the looks of it, mom should have been contracted way long ago…'
Max turned his head towards Leviathan, she might be able to answer a few of his questions…
"How long have you been with my mother, Leviathan?" Max called her out by the name, not knowing the best way to address her.
"Umn...it hasn't been long…." Leviathan replied.
Max appeared a bit confused, it was different from what he thought. Her mother only used spirit energy and there wasn't any hint of mana...if that was the truth, things didn't seem to make sense….how did she become a known Mage…
"Don't take her words that seriously..''
Max looked at Andriel who had spoken up.
"What do you mean? I am not lying…" Leviathan spoke with a face as if she was being wronged.
"Time period differs for every race, what is short for you might be very long for others..."
"Ah!" Leviathan released squeak in realisation.
"Don't worry it happens, Levi…"
Leviathan looked at Andriel who had a gentle smile on her face. Even though she called her again by the nickname….she didn't seem to that much displeased now…
'It seems she isn't as bad as the rumors say…' Leviathan thought as she looked at her.
"No one expects anything from a fish brain after all…"
Andriel's next words triggered Leviathan and her eyes began to spew with flames. All the respect that Andriel had managed to gain in her eyes went plummeting down to the deepest level of hell.

Leviathan would have definitely pounced on her but Max's presence stopped her from doing so…
"I am a Behemoth...not a fish…."
Andriel didn't seem to pay any attention to her and just stood there with a smile.
Leviathan in the end turned her head back to Max and spoke, "It should be more than 27 years now…"
Max nodded. His mom was well above 40 even though she looked way younger than that….
'So, they must have met before Mom hit 20….'
"Can you tell me how you met her…..I want to know everything….." Max demanded.
"It might take long…." Leviathan replied.
"You can take a break in between….I am all ears…"
"Ah! No…I am fine…" Leviathan shook her head vigorously as she began to explain…
"As it was decided by the Racial Alliance, the 12 Races had decided to send one of their strongest for the decisive battle…I was selected from the Behemoth race and used one of the links to travel. It was what led me to Lithiya. She was rea-"
"Wait!" Max interrupted, even though the next part was he really wanted to hear, she just spoke something which he couldn't ignore.
"What did you mean by the Racial Alliance?"
"Umn...it's the alliance formed by the 12 Spiritual races in the spirit realm. It is present in the upper dimension..."
"I don't get it, why are you people helping us….why are you even sending the strongest among you…..are the Demons so strong?" Max asked with a frown. This was a question which he wanted to ask, but he knew Sera would be clueless….
"You didn't tell him?" Leviathan looked at Andriel in confusion.
"I just met him as well and I have yet to form a contract with him….."
Leviathan nodded before turning to Max, "In that case, let me give you a brief introduction of the current situation from the amount of knowledge I possess…."

"There are three main dimensions…. Upper, Middle and Lower. We come from the upper dimension of course…..this place, on the other hand, is middle layer… and beneath it is the lower dimension."
"Even though this place is middle, there won't be any difference in calling it the lower dimension as the actual lower dimension is filled with brainless creatures…."
"The upper dimension is countless times bigger than the middle one and the place has further division in itself…..it is divided into three parts….the Spirit realm, the Nether Realm and the Human Realm…."
"The Spirit Realm where we reside, the Nether Realm where the Nether Creatures reside and the Human Realm which had been a new addition, they were the ones to have crossed dimensions and entered the upper realm a few millennia ago…."
Max was patiently waiting, he had indeed gained knowledge. But what he wanted to know was yet to come.
"The situation in the upper dimension hadn't been good. Disputes are inevitable at any place…..the Spirit Realm and the Nether Realm were at war due to lofty ambitions of the Asura King, Heaven. The Leader of the Nether Realm."
Max could imagine that much…
"The one's on the losing side of the stick were us….." Leviathan said with a sigh.
"And so, we broke the taboo…. On the orders of the Leader of the Racial Alliance, we interfered with the middle dimension…."
"There seemed to be a war going on between Humans and Demons. We decided to take on the side of Human forming contracts and using their body as the medium to avoid breaking the dimensional law."
"And humans finally gained dominance, the plan was to use humans as reinforcement…...but we didn't see the last thing coming. During the last battle, when Arkansas the leader of Humans defeated Leyak, the leader of Demons, we thought it was over…..we let our guard down…."
Max frowned at this….
"Arkansas, left the battle and ascended to the upper dimension…...causing the dimensional law to turn against him. A creature once enters a higher dimension will always be considered its netizen and will face severe consequences in case he goes against it...."
Leviathan's expression showed the helplessness as she continued, "After Arkansas departure, something terrible happened. A Demon named Vaccaria rose through the bottom ranks… the demons who had been on losing ends turned the tides of the battle in one fell swoop…."
"It was all because a single entity from the upper dimension had decided to take their side...somebody sold us….The Asura King, Heaven had entered the fray entering into a contract with Vaccaria. Thus, Vaccaria, came to be known as the Heavenly Demon."
Max really found it hard to believe. This seemed like some scene from a movie….masterminds plotting against each other…
"But, I heard Arkansas was the one to have sealed Vaccaria….." Max finally spoke.
"It's true, he was one of the most reckless people in the upper dimension. Everyone admires him for that…..he broke the Dimensional law…..in ordinary case if we try to do what he did….we would have been reduced to ashes within seconds….but the fact that he once belonged to the same dimensions might have played a part in it…. Using the life force of half of the remaining human population, he fought Vaccaria and ended up sealing him….."
Max's eyes widened. He didn't know how many humans were there in the Ancient Era but….it definitely wouldn't be less…
In comparison, Max was lucky to have survived with the life force of one supreme….it seemed being a person from the same dimension was a good thing for him…..
"You understand it now don't you?" Andriel suddenly spoke.
Max nodded.
"So, everyone has decided that the final battle would be taking place here…."

Small Chests Are Fine Too
It is an undeniable fact that good things come in small packages. More often than not, it is necessary to trim the fat in order to bring what really matters to the forefront. Having extra bulk may seem like a good idea, but in reality it is merely a crutch that will one day become a hindrance, as it is no substitute for personality nor ability. Indeed, often times it is the small things in life that brighten up our daily lives and constantly remind us exactly why we do the things we do. However, it is important to keep an open mind, for while bigger is not always better, there are also times when it is. This holds especially true when it comes to hopes and dreams, which have been known to require a suitably large container from time to time. And while dreaming big could potentially lead to massive dissapointment, one will never truly reach fulfilment if they think too small. A truth that one small woman with meager aspirations is about to find out. DISCLAIMER: This is a spin-off/side story of my main series, Everybody Loves Large Chests, which is also mandatory reading to understand this one. It runs parallel to the main plot, branching off from the chapter titled Upheaval 2, so there will be spoilers for anyone who hasn't reached that point.
