The Ancient Genes Chapter 420

The group arrived at the bamboo house and Lisa saw another beautiful girl with blue hair standing there.
Lisa had already met her earlier when Sera was dragging her around. As for Max's mother….Lisa had yet to meet her as no one was allowed there without Andriel's permission except for Leviathan.
When they entered the house, Lisa saw Max standing by the bed. There was a lady lying on the bed, her complexion didn't look good. But it was still enough to tell that she was a beauty….
Lisa obviously didn't know about the state Max's mother was in and it came as a bit of shock to her.
Max noticed her expression and spoke, "She was injured...I failed to protect her..."
His voice contained regret and rage. To those people plotting out there, he would make sure that each one of them would die a terrible death.
Lisa could clearly feel Max's emotions. She wanted to say something to console him but it was always her being consoled….she didn't have any idea what to say….
She looked at Lithiya and a strange emotion filled her heart…
Mother…
She didn't remember her mother clearly. Her mother had passed away when she was 5 due to illness….she couldn't even remember her last words….did her mother even say anything?
"We will save her…..don't worry.." Andriel said with a smile as she leaned over Max's back and crossed her arms around his neck.
"Yeah, definitely…" Max replied. He hadn't lost his will. It only made him more determined every time he saw his mother in this state.
"Well, it's time to go I guess…" Max said as he looked at Lisa.
"You are the one going out….I still have to talk with her...and you stay too Lisa…" Andriel said as she showed Max the way out.

"Wait... You have been talking to mom?" Max asked in surprise.
"Yes, how could I become a good daughter-in-law if I don't take proper care of her….I will win her first before you…" Andriel said with a smile. Her plan were deeper than Max could think…
"What have you been talking to her about?" Max was a bit annoyed. Knowing her character he was afraid of the content of their conversation….
"It's a secret…" Andriel smiled charmingly.
Max didn't pry much onto this matter. It was a good thing if she was keeping his mother company in his absence….unless she was taking sh*t....
"I am outside...don't take much time...your friends are going crazy…" Max said to Lisa and she just nodded as she tried to maintain her normal face. Still she couldn't help but feel a bit hot under his gaze.
When Max left, she breathed in relief….
"What are you doing there? Come and show your face to Mom." Andriel said as she dragged Lisa towards them.
"H-Hello, Aunty…" Lisa said as she looked at the lady. It was a bit awkward, but she felt that was the most reasonable thing to do...
"What Aunty?" Andriel looked at her in disbelief. This girl was really a coward….
"Mom, she is your second daughter-in-law…" Andriel took the opportunity to introduce Lisa.
Lisa's face twitched. She couldn't understand what the hell was wrong with her…
Besides, what did she mean second?
'Isn't she after Max, what in hell is she trying to do then? Doesn't she feel jealous at all?'
Lisa really felt complicated looking at Andriel.
"What's wrong?" Andriel asked, feeling her gaze.
"What are you trying to do? Do you really love him?" Lisa couldn't help but ask.
"Of course, I do…" Andriel said without any hint of hesitation.

"Then-"
"It's because I am a selfish person…if you wanna know the reason in detail then you would have to….." Andriel leaned and whispered a few words into Lisa's ears.
Lisa's face turned red once again. She glared at Andriel. "I don't want to know! Do whatever you wanna do!! I am never meeting you again after all…"
….
A few minutes later...
"Lisa!"
Everyone breathed in relief after seeing that she was fine.
Max didn't intend to linger around and immediately planned to head to his room.
"Goodnight brother!" Janet waved at him, even when everyone else was just too busy with their thoughts.
Max nodded at her and walked out.
The room turned silent after that….Janet was a bit more cheerful then usual...but seeing others...she knew that it might be better not to say anything…
Lisa raised her head planning to take a glance at Aria. She didn't know how to face her. She was supposed to be supporting her….but…
'Is this called cheating?' Lisa thought.
It was then that her eyes met with Aria. She was looking at her too.
Both of them immediately turned their face away with guilt in their heart.
Aria gritted her teeth and took in a deep breath as she stood up and walked up to Lisa.
Lisa didn't dare to look at her. Her face was still down. She didn't know why Aria was here. Her heart was thumping…
'Did she found out?'
Obviously that was not possible….
"I am sorry, Lisa…."
Aria's words came as a shock to Lisa. She immediately raised her head to look at her only to see her frustrated face. She seemed to be having a hard time…
'Why is she apologising?' Lisa was confused.
"I am sorry…"
When Aria said those words again with tears almost forming in her eyes, Lisa couldn't help herself. She was the one who had wronged her.
Lisa hugged Aria and shook her head.
"No! I am the one who is sorry…"
"I am really sorry…"
The two girls kept apologising to each other without stating the reason.
Janet was left scratching her head seeing the scene. In the end she ignored them.
Elly didn't pay attention to them from the beginning and was lost in her thoughts.
….
Next morning, Max was planning to leave with Elly and Lisa back to Lorenz Mansion when his phone rang.
It was from Axel.
"Did you cause some trouble again?" That was the first thing he asked.
"How did you know?" Max was surprised.
"Well, Wilson sneaked out yesterday….and when I checked on Lear, he was missing as well…am I being excluded?"
"You are the one bailing out on action...besides, didn't you say that your fighting style was too unique for you to take the normal route...that improving my formations is my priority…" Max replied.
"Did I?" Axel asked as he tried to remember it.
"Anyway, come to the Academy...I am having trouble deciding the team for competition….with you all bailing out on this….I am having a headache here..." He further said letting go of the previous topic.
"When was the opening ceremony again?" Max asked.
"It's three days from now…and the first event is a week from then..." Axel replied.
"Fine, I will drop by….let's see what the headmaster had prepared for our winning in competition, he was the most excited after all…" Max replied as he hung up and walked out of his room.
