The Ancient Genes Chapter 518

"What might that small request be?" James asked as he looked at Saleos.
"Well, it's very simple. I will deploy 2 Master Tiers from my side as long as you can help me deal with my new nephew…"
"Oh.." James already knew who Saleos was talking about. He had long taken notice of Max and to be honestly the guy gave him a weird feeling.
Let's just say it was not a good one…
He even lost that idiot Victor to him. And now the guy was developing pretty fast and had formed social connections.
It was bad for their plans related to Edwinson House. So, he would gladly dispose of Max as long as he could get some help from this guy.
But, he wasn't a fool. This guy was clearly trying to take advantage of him…
"Isn't two Master Tier a bit too low of a help?" James said with a smile. "You know who we are targeting...I don't think two Master Tier mages would be much of a help."
This guy was just trying to use them as a cover and an aid to get his thing done. James wasn't foolish to be used like that…
"Seven Master Tier Mages or one Grandmaster Tier Mage, Sir can choose..." James gave him the option with a smile.
The smile remained on Saleos's face. There wasn't a single change in expression on his face as he spoke, "You are asking for too much...I don't think I have enough benefits to invest this much.."
"Who said that? I believe in fair trade. I will give you more than you can ask for…" James said with a laugh as he spoke about his plan.
Saleos's eyes slowly lit up on hearing it and he couldn't help but break out in a laugh while secretly taking a note of this sinister brat. This kid was much more vicious than his father.
"Your plan indeed sounds impressive but I am afraid that I don't have much manpower to spare. At most I can provide five Master Tier Mages…" Saleos said helplessly as he shrugged his hand.

James looked at him knowing very well that he was just making things up. How can someone like him didn't have even a few Master Tier Mages to spare?
James had deliberately given an option for a Grandmaster Tier mage to lure him towards the other option.
Who would have thought he would be seen through and haggled again? Still, five was still more than enough, if he refused, it would be his loss…
….
"You aren't holding back, are you?" Kain asked as he looked at Max.
Max was surprised for a bit as he asked with a smile, "What do you think?"
The two had already exchanged several blows by now and there has been no particular one who had gained any advantage.
At this moment, a message popped up in front of Max.
«Namen: There is trouble...it was only shown for a few moments but I saw that creepy narcissist and that arrogant guy staring at each other...I think things might not end peacefully…»
Max frowned.
Trouble at this point of time…
He couldn't understand just what were those two thinking..
«What's going on between you two?»
Max messages the two at the same time.
«This idiot has gone crazy..» The two simultaneously replied.
Max was speechless for a second. He knew that it wasn't possible to talk sense to them from here.
He looked at Kain and as he was thinking how to proceed, winds suddenly grew strong and a strong spiral column of wind crashed from above.
Max and Kain immediately tried to separate but were flung away by the strong winds.
Max used this opportunity and immediately separated a clone from his body.
Even though he didn't have complete control over the skill, he could maintain it for 10 to 20 minutes. As for combat powers, well he wasn't sure but it was probably extremely low considering that he could barely maintain it.
As the clone disappeared, Max turned his head to look at the newly arrived fellow and it was indeed Bayu.

Wilson and Mr. Cool stared off at each other, if it wasn't for the fact that things were dire, a fight would have broken out long ago.
"Do you really think me going easy on her is good for her growth?" Wilson looked at Mr. Cool with a frown. It was rare for him to hold himself back when some insulted him but he forced himself to do so as he didn't want to make another mistake.
"Brother!! You don't have to interfere in my fight!!" Aria was really angry with Mr. Cool.
"Listen to her, she has set her goals high. She is not special like you, without strength and mental fortitude she can't be where she wants herself to be...." Wilson said to him.
Mr. Cool could understand that. But was he supposed to do? Keep quiet and watch her getting beaten.
Will he still have the ability to call her his sister?
Even though it was a competition. It was one thing to deliberately go out of the way to help her and another to just ignore her when she was about to be beaten right in front of his eyes.
And he clearly was on later part here…
"What in hell do you think you two are doing?!!"
Max finally arrived with a thunderous voice.
The two looked at him and frowned. If Max hadn't messaged them that it was him, they would have surely attacked him thinking that it was impostor.
His aura was all over the place and seemed to be fading. Beside they shared a connection and this clearly wasn't Max's actual presence.
Max looked at the two when he noticed Aria lying beside Mr. Cool and with blood and shock burns, he understood what had happened.
Now this was a headache, he had a sister so he understood where Mr. Cool was coming from but Wilson wasn't wrong and then Aria shared the same thought as Wilson.
"There is nothing to discuss here. Let's make it simple. The one to eliminate Nathan will apologise to the other person…" Max threw the bait and targeted the person who needed to be dealt with ASAP.
Wilson immediately shot a glance at Mr. Cool before turning around and leaving.
Mr. Cool looked at Max, "Why didn't you ask your teammates to go easy on her? Look how cute she is, don't you feel anything when she keeps stealing glances at you whenever you are around?"
"Brother!!!" Aria shouted as her face turned a bit red. Whether it was due to anger or embarrassment, only she knew about it.
Max's face twitched. But he remained calm and quietly told Mr. Cool about what had happened with Aria and that he should stop with his jokes now.
But who would have thought that this b*stard would suddenly turn towards Aria and ask, "Why are you giving me that look? Don't tell me you gave up? Or did you get shot down by him?"
Aria really wanted to hide in a hole as she stole a glance at Max. This guy was really embarrassing her in front of him.
It was not like she ever said anything and confessed to him. What if Max related this to the words she had said earlier....
'No!!' Aria shook her head. That was a nightmare.
"It's not like that….we are just friends!! Stop with your jokes…." Aria finally snapped seeing that Mr. Cool still wasn't stopping.
Mr. Cool looked at Max and then at her. He then shrugged as if saying 'Well, Whatever…' before finally leaving towards the place where the angry roars of the beast were coming from.

System Only Gives Me Useless Gifts
Li Yun grew up with a system that gave him useless gifts. He wanted a reward that could prove the existence of the system, but ended up with abstract gifts like culture. Without physical proof, he was stuck wondering whether his mind was truly sane, all the while dealing with the reality of life. How will the "useless" system help Li Yun navigate medical school, hospital politics, criminal cases, treasure hunting, farming and cooking? Author's Note: This is a slice-of-life novel about a doctor with a mission-type system. It's written as a faux modern Chinese novel, so there are many 1-off characters and episodic mini arcs. Just a bit of warning, the tone of the story is very different after the childhood arc and jumpy as it chronicles Li Yun's life. I'm trying to make it less apparent in the rewrite, but there are still a lot of time skips. RR is the rewrite version, no set schedule. See webnovel for OG. scribblehub is a combo of both . I recommend scribblehub since it has pictures. Copyrights of the novel and cover are owned by Chocomug. Novel is free to read and download for personal use, such as offline reading, only.
