The Ancient Genes Chapter 540

"What's wrong with your face?" Axel asked with an amused face as he looked at Lear.
"Damn it!" Lear suddenly cursed out of nowhere scaring Axel and August who were near him.
"What's wrong?" Axel couldn't help but ask with a frown.
Lear didn't reply but his face had turned ugly. He had just received Max's message confirming his suspicion and it turned out she was indeed out on the run. He really didn't know what to do now. His mom was a Mage as well as a famous celebrity before she married her father. It really would be troublesome if people identified her.
>
He messaged Max and just like his father insisted Max on keeping an eye on her.
"Will you speak now?" August frowned when Lear didn't reply and kept making an ugly face.
"Why is he making such an ugly face as if his girlfriend ran away with someone?" Wilson couldn't help but ask with as smile.
But when these people looked at Lear's face turning even nastier at that comment, they couldn't help but stare at him with a face that said, 'You can't be serious…'
"F*ck! She didn't ran away with anyone you b*stard! I don't have a girlfriend to begin with!" Lear suddenly snapped at Wilson.
In his current state, Wilson probably wouldn't last 10 minutes in front of him.
"Calm down! It was a joke! Its fine even if your imaginary girlfriend didn't runaway! You don't need to react like this at all," Axel grabbed him from behind trying to calm him down.
Lear eventually calmed down and came to a stop but there wasn't a visible improvement on his face.
"So, what's going on?" Axel calmly asked again.
Lear sighed before finally speaking with a weird face, "My mom ran away from home. She is apparently coming to Trinity and Max ended up bumping into her."

"Pfft!"
A laugh escaped from Wilson's mouth and everybody immediately glared at him while Lear pulled his sleeve up ready to kill him.
"Your mother has the spirit! You should be more brave like her instead of just acting in front of people," Wilson couldn't but speak with a smile.
"Do you think you can beat me in your current state?" Lear said as he cracked his fingers.
He really wanted to beat the crap out of him once.
"You sure about it? What do you think will happen when I return to good health again?" Wilson asked with an evil smile, pouring a cold water on all of Lear's confidence.
"Well, I will let you go this once," Lear said visibly shaken by the evil light in Wilson's eyes.
"Let's go, all our preparation's are done now," Axel shook his head with a smile and everyone soon gathered around.
"What about her? You have been constantly knocking her out all these day after feeding her enough to live," August asked looking at Erina.
Wilson surprisingly had allowed this. It seemed he wanted his suffer his sister to suffer a bit of hardship to let her open her eyes.
"Well, we need any strength we can gather at this moment. Let's take her along, we would just hand her over to Ocien after waking her up," Axel said with a smile.
…
On the other side....
Max returned to his seat and smile at the girl which was actually an Aunt.
'Damn, how is she making herself look so young?' He couldn't help but mutter inwardly.
"You are back?" She asked and Max gave a nod.
"What about my answer now?"
"Answer?" Max asked in confusion.
"You said you will tell me why Lear leads the team instead of one of the stronger guys?" She repeated the question from before.

Max remembered that she was indeed asking something like that when he left for the washroom.
"Well, he is smarter than any of us I guess," He replied casually.
Lear was smart and extremely smart. Except for the times when his switch was off. He could even surpass Max in his ability to think at times but on average Max was definitely better than Lear.
But if only came to intelligence then, Axel would probably be leading the team. He wasn't just smart but cunning and evil at times as well. He was born to be one taking charge of thing and plans.
Wilson probably had a brain but was too lazy to think.
August was too upright and couldn't be sly and hence was no match for Axel.
The rest were probably even low on the list.
Only Bahamut was the one who could probably give Axel a run for money when he grew up a bit more and gained more view of the world.
Max saw that she didn't seem satisfied with his answer and his lips curled up into a smile, "What's wrong? Do you not think that Lear is smart?"
"Uh..no, of course he is smart as well," She shook her head and immediately replied. After all, she only had praises for her son.
"Do you want to talk to Lear?" Max asked as he once again decided to confirm something.
"Yes, definitely." She nodded. It was all because of this that she ran away…
"Note his number then.."
Lesia frowned.
She had left her phone back afraid of being tracked and had only brought her transmitter along. But that was another thing. She was more confused about Max's attitude actually, why in hell was he giving his friends number to a person he met for the first time?
Could it be..... he was that gullible?
Just because she said a few sweet words, he even readily gave out Lear's number?
This was really out of her expectation.
"I don't think that's a good idea, he might not be happy about it," She said with a forced smile in the end trying to let Max realize his mistake.
'Obviously Mam, you don't have your phone with you?' Max was now hundred percent sure that it was her.
"No worries, I will talk about it to him. You are his batch mate as well. I am hundred percent sure he won't mind, instead he might even be happy with it," He replied in a confident voice.
"Is it?" Lesia smiled and then searched her bag before taking out small notebook, "My phone is dead, I will just note it down here."
Max smiled at this and then went on to give her Lear's new number which she probably didn't have.
He could see a smile blossoming on her face after getting it, she genuinely seemed happy about such a little thing. It was obvious that she loved Lear a lot.
"Hmmn?" Max suddenly felt a gaze and turned around to see who it was. But it only turned out to be a staff who just walked towards him asking if he needed anything.
Max shook his head saying that he was fine and as the man went past him, no one realized that his lips had seemingly curled up a bit.

I was just like everyone else. At least, I thought so. Everyone grew up in a mansion with servants, trained to be a debutante, had a traveling archeologist for a father, and gave it all up to do whatever the hell they wanted. Right? Well that’s what I did. I was happy. As happy as a single twenty four year old girl can be living in an apartment selling shit online to pay the bills. Not actual shit, that's gross. No, I bought stuff from garage sales, thrift stores, and junk shops, and resold it in my online store. I was pretty good at finding stuff to peddle to my customers. I made rent every month and didn’t have to strip. I’m a bit too chunky to swing around a pole anyway. Life was great! Until two sexy men broke into my apartment and woke me up from the most erotic dream my sexually depraved mind could come up with. One was between my legs, the other was... Oh well, it was a dream and I didn’t even get to finish it. Those bastards! Now I’m supposed to believe my dead father wasn’t an archeologist, but some kind of paranormal agent working for a secret organization called The Guard. My ability to find items for my customers is just a perk inherited from him. And I’m supposed to use my inherited powers to save the world. All while these hunks of man flesh guard me from other paranormals out to get whatever the hell they think I have. A certain body part is dripping with excitement, literally. But my mind is saying “Hell No!”
