"Guys, now that we found you, we will move you to a place where no one will ever dare to exploit you in the way you were exploited in the past. As for today, I announce the end of the gorilla's sect, so that no one will ever come back to get revenge on you. Celleria, are you ready?"
With Bonger's message putting me on quite a high alter, I quickly reorganised our limited forces. Thanks to the help of my energy vision, finding out the whereabouts of the poor victims of the unfair and abusive treatment of this sect wasn't any problem at all, especially after some disciples helped us out due to the sheer kindness that my charm induced in their hearts.
"Yeah, I will be right behind you."
With Bonger's warning still resounding in my ears, I felt as if every single wasted second was a potential threat to the safety fo the people we just saved from this place. As such, as soon as Celleria reported her readiness, I poked Eve's side and nodded my head in her direction, before bending my knees and kicking myself off the ground into the skies!
Swoosh!
As if it was a nuclear explosion that gave me the momentum, I blasted into the air like a damned missile, reaching the point above the village in a matter of less than two seconds. Despite Eve appearing right beside me in the very next moment, I actually focused my attention at the situation below my feet rather than on the excited face of my future wife.
Thankfully, there were no signs of the monsters appearing yet, giving us at least a few moments to prepare before the onslaught would start.
Thump.
This time, rather than ignoring the collateral damage to my surroundings while landing, I made sure to soften up my descend before finally, the soles of my feet touched the hard ground.

"What are we going to do then? Just stand against those monsters and slaughter them as we go?"
With Eve not even bothering to completely land herself and just levitating few militaries above the earth, I could read the excitement from her face like if it was an open book. Yet while I was quite hyped for the series of testing of my own power myself, we couldn't just let our urges rule out what we would be doing!
After all, we came here not to have fun, but to protect this village in the very first place!
"Let's head up a bit, I need to see the entire village from the bird's eye point of view."
Despite being in the skies just a moment ago, I still elevated myself up with a simple shockwave before using my flight spell to stabilise my position.
"I think I will go with several barriers to funnel them towards the barricade. If we let them pass through the entire width of the peninsula here, we won't be able to stop them. Rather than that, do you think you will be able to take over my barriers and support them after you are done with testing your own limits? I would like to have some practice as well."
As much as I loved Eve, after everything that I went through, I just couldn't fight this feeling that it was me supposed to protect her rather than the two of us protecting each other. Even despite knowing that in terms of the raw power, she was most likely stronger than me, it didn't change the fact that my constant greatest priority was to grow strong enough to make any attempts at her life simply meaningless!
"Hmm… I'm not really sure. How about we test it out right now?"

Rather than giving me a concrete answer, Eve smiled mischievously before floating right into my arms and staring at me with her big, deep eyes.
"O-okay then, l-let's try it out."
No matter how many times we screwed each other, with the person I cared the most in my entire life, intentionally getting as intimately close as she did, it would still cause my heart to flutter and tongue fails to finish its task properly!
Yet with how little time we had, and with how those monsters were supposed to be stronger than we expected according to Bonger's words, I had to discard all those idle thoughts that Eve's closeness caused in my mind, fully focusing on the task at hand.
"Okay, try taking it over."
Creating a simple barrier with just a stray thought, I made sure that it was properly connected to my core, before allowing Eve to manipulate her own energy to make it resemble perfectly the flow that I created.
Maybe it was due to our dual spirituality or maybe just because of the talent that the two of us had towards cultivation, not to speak about our compatibility with each other, the transfer of the burden that the shield placed on one's core, went through without even a hint of a problem!
Yet with how paranoic I could be at times, I still forced the two of us to go through this process two times again, yet with the geometrically increasing strength of the barrier that I would be passing on Eve.
Only after the last test concluded with her quickly taking over the barrier as if those two previous runs were enough for her to get efficient at doing so, I finally approved our initial plan.
"So, to make sure there are no mistakes. We will funnel all the bears towards the village's barricade, where you will test your limits to your heart's content. I will prepare another barrier surrounding the village itself just in case if Bonger's warning were far more important than I still dare to believe them so that if a push comes to shove, you will be able to quickly retreat to the safety, okay?"
No matter how easy dealing with that stampede was most likely going to be, I wasn't willing to just ignore some basic safety measures like that! After all, it was proven to me several times already that there are moments when no matter how powerful one is, fate will still find its way to show how powerless one is in reality!

The friends found themselves home in the real world, exactly as they'd been the night they were taken, as if no time had passed... except only three came back. Hi there! This was my entry for National Novel Writing Month, because why only write one series at a time? The more the merrier! (meanwhile, my keyboard bursts into flames...) I'm also the writer of The Last Science, an ongoing low-fantasy/speculative sci-fi series. If you're familiar with that, you know what to expect here: lots of character-focused drama and dialogue, not a whole lot of traditional action. However, I'm writing a bit differently than usual here, and in a very different structure, so there should be some surprises for returning readers. I hope you enjoy it! [Discord] — for those of you who want to hang out and chat. Cover art (fullsize): Path of Revelation, by taenaron (Tobias Roetsch), modified by Etzoli. Normally I like to do my own cover art from scratch, but I was in a rush for the contest. Might be replaced down the line if I get time. I am not the Hero
Disclaimer: This is a slow burn story that integrates both Fantasy and somewhat sci-fi. The MC will be more of an anti-hero who will kill any and everyone that he pleases while still understanding the plight of a Villain. This is also family-centric with a dash of hidden identity, Yandere Romance, Blackmail, and a lot of character growth. === Why is life precious? Because you only have one. Then what about the person who took over 999 lives? Who died 999 tragic death as a villain? Then, how would someone like that live? The answer is simple... as he damn wishes. “I-it’s not like I did it for you, you spinless Warrior.” “Good, the doors to your left, you may leave now.” He said to the tsundere Knight. PAH! “How dare you hit a woman?” “Who cares if you’re a woman? You slapped me when I just saved your life!” “You touched my chest!” “I said it was an accident, and again, I just saved your life — you know what? Fuck you, die here if you want to.” “Wait, wait, come back! Don’t leave me here! I’m sorry!” the princess screamed for help after being tossed to the side of the road. Theo did all this, yet to his dismay somehow, his reputation remained good in the eyes of many! A Hero, A Righteous Warrior, Benevolent King, Shadow Lord, Beast Keeper — such were the names given to him... To all of this, his reaction was always the same. “WHY!? How did they come to the conclusion that I’m a Hero? Even my other identities who massacred a lot of people, mind you, are not any different!” [I know, right?] “Shut up, Goddess!” This is the story of the most malicious villain turned Hero. The one with the darkest heart shining with the most brilliant name. He does not hide, nor run, he’s — The Villain Savior. === Final Notes: If you want to support the story, encourage the author, or just flat out want to read ahead, head over to the Patreon where you'll be a week ahead.
