The Rise Of Nathalia Carter Chapter 51

She sneered, though she noticed the meanness and possessiveness in Ben's eyes, and it made her shiver with worry.
I should have been more careful. How have I fallen into their trap? I've been managing so well, but this time… They have plotted all this. They must be determined to get me into trouble. What should I do now? What can I do? I can't just wait and do nothing. I have to fight. I have to.
Her heart beat faster and faster, and she felt like her body was on fire. She wanted to be free. She knew she had been drugged.
Various ideas and thoughts popped up in Nathalia's head. She imagined all sorts of possibilities, and the more she thought, the more frantic she grew.
Desperately, she kicked at Ben's most vulnerable spot, quick and hard. Ben screamed in pain as he covered it with both hands.
Bitch. Cruel!
Nathalia freed herself, and she stumbled through the crowd. A few guys watched and exchanged malicious looks, then followed Nathalia. What a great opportunity! An almost naked girl right there for us for free. And she's Spencer Davidson's fiancée. That's something to talk about.
They were giggling, chatting while following Nathalia closely. They glanced at a quiet room on the left side, thinking it would be a perfect spot.
Then a sharp, bright light flashed in front of them and startled, and they backed off a few steps. Nathalia was swaying a knife about. The neon light shone on its pointed end and flashed on the pursuers' vicious-looking faces.
Their faces went pale, and no one dared come close. Who would take the risk of getting a nice cut? At the same time, they were surprised to see how the usually quiet Nathalia changed after just a drink.

Nathalia stumbled forward, swinging the knife around. She could feel her heart beating rapidly, her palms sweating, her breathing heavy. She was trying so hard not to show her nervousness and not to fall.
I have to keep moving. I have to leave here. I can't fall. If I do, then everything I've done so far will go into waste. I still need revenge. I'd rather die than fall into their trap.
Ben realized Nathalia was trying to escape, and he rushed forward to try to grab her wrist, "Nathalia, put the knife down." If she leaves now, then our plan's ruined.
Nathalia cried out, "Ahhhhhh" as she swung the knife madly. The sharp end of the knife sliced on Ben's face. Blood gushed out.
The crowd scattered about, frightened. She gathered all the strength she could manage, and she circled around herself, swaying the knife still. If anyone comes close, I will cut them. I don't care. If I have to die, they die with me. When you came to a state where you feared losing nothing, there was nothing to fear about.
The spectators remained in a safe distance from the swinging knife, shocked and scared.
Ben covered his bleeding cheek with his hand. Though he was still aware of their plan, he was now too frightened to make a move. He couldn't bear having another cut on his precious face.
Thanks to her experienced mother's influence, Evette knew very well how to flirt and please her pursuers.
She was the spotlight in the other crowd, surrounded by her admirers and sweet compliments.
Hearing the screams and commotions on the other side of the room, she turned around to see Nathalia standing in the center with a knife in her hand. What's happened?
Cleverly, she gently walked close to Nathalia and said caringly, "Nathalia, what's happened? Put the knife down, please. Please don't hurt yourself. Let me get you some iced water."

Their original plan was to get Nathalia into the room and assaulted her. The cameras were all set up in the room.
What's happened to the plan? A bunch of useless people. They can't even handle one girl. Evette thought, frustrated.
However, Evette would be the last one to take the risk of leaving a cut on her face or any part of her body. She asked one of her admirers to fetch a glass of cold water and winked at him as if to remind him of something.
Though the admirer didn't want to end up like Ben, he didn't want to disappoint Evette either.
Cautiously, he went close to Nathalia, holding the glass.
Coldwater? Huh. Is it really just cold water? Nathalia thought, a sneer on her face. Does she really think I will just fall into another trap of hers?
The crowd kept their distance, but those who were Evette's loyal pursers took the chance to please her. Though they dared not get close to the frantic weapon, they tried to sweet talk Nathalia and persuade her to put the knife down and accept the water. Somehow they had made it sound like Nathalia was to take the blame if she did not drink the liquid, whatever it was,or in the glass, and if anyone else got hurt again.
Evette stood aside, guarded by her pursers, a victorious smile on her face. Her supercilious look announced that she was the queen to be adored and obeyed. She did not even need to ask, and they would do what she wanted. She could control them, and she enjoyed doing so.
The guy with the glass persuaded Nathalia gently while getting closer to her, hoping to get the chance to pin her down.
Nathalia seemed to be oblivious of the approaching threat. Her cheeks were red and hot, and she found it difficult to see clearly. However, she clenched the knife tight and swayed it now and then intentionally. She pretended to accept the water from the guy, but a nauseous feeling traveled from her stomach to her throat, and instead, she puked at him.
"Disgusting." The crowd covered their nose in disgust and backed off a few more steps.
Nathalia smiled, and she mumbled something. "...I'm, I'm, not drunk..." She stumbled forward, trying to get to the door, and almost fell over.
Ben suddenly came forward and grabbed her arm " Nathalia, let me help you.", his face blurred with blood.
Nathalia swung the knife at him, annoyed. How dare you touch me? Anyone who tries to stop me shall have a taste of its sharpness! Anyone! She voiced herself in her facial expression of anger.
The crowd gasped, eyes wide open.
She's crazy!
Insane. I won't get close to her.
Nathalia was fearless.

A Titan's Crusade
Erik Thayne spent most of his life being brutally ridiculed and tormented for his weight and physical appearance, among other things. A social pariah and diagnosed with an eating disorder no one has an explanation or treatment for, Erik spent years trying to overcome his issues with his personal image and escape the ridicule and vicious torment of his peers. After years of dedicated effort, and a fresh start in a town away from his childhood and adolescent tormentors, he had finally begun to truly realize what he'd been striving for all along. Only, fate apparently has other plans because in the blink of an eye, Erik found himself snatched from Earth and taken to another universe, another world, where he is offered the chance to be more than he'd ever imagined. Now, he has to fight to restore the Balance between Chaos and Order on a world of swords and magic, in a universe governed by the System's laws, which resemble those of RPGs from Earth. Erik learned to embrace the things about himself that others taught him to hate, using them to reforge his physical identity into something more removed from his old self-loathing. But can he learn to embrace the darkest parts of his mind just as he did the reviled aspects of his body and become who he needs to be to succeed in the task set before him? It might just prove easier to stalk in the dark as a monster than to walk in the light as a man... *This is my first time publishing anything I've written to a public audience. Due to formatting issues, I forwent traditional stat-screens for something a little less problematic, delineating stat screens by separating them from regular text with horizontal lines in a lighter-grey coloration. Let me know if you like them or not. Criticism is entirely welcome, but please don't hate on my work after only reading 1 chapter. This is a writing project I intend to complete but I have committment problems so we'll see how long this goes on. Also, fair warning, as the description implies, the main protagonist is intended to be someone who has been treated cruelly, developed antisocial tendencies, and ultimately has to question his own humanity--or lack thereof. This story is not intended to be brutally dark but I will definitely be trying to follow a darker theme. It is intended to be violent and some scenes later in the story might be...alarming. There will likely also be some light, non-graphic (think more implied with crude jokes and conversation than actual details, there will be no full-blown sex scenes)relationship scenes planned later and if you're opposed to either a bisexual or gay main character, stay away. I haven't yet decided which way he's going to swing but the odds on him being straight are relatively miniscule, and I've always wanted to write a story about a gay man who basically looks like a lumberjack because who doesn't like giving conventional stereo-types the middle finger? This will NOT be a harem story, and I have no intention to focus on romance over action--it's a consequence of character development where I'm concerned, not the be-all-end-all of the story. The cover-art does not, in any way, belong to me. It was an image titled the Druid King (by duskanmarkovic according to the file name) which I found on Google Images. Until I can get something commissioned, this is the best stand-in image I could find.
