The Rise Of Nathalia Carter Chapter 74

Nathalia poured some milk into her coffee, gave it a stir, and had a sip. "Ms. Watson, he's good to me. Really," she answered while watching the milk travel down the coffee.
Then she looked up at Lisa, with a content smile on her face, and continued, "I know it all happened very fast, but I, I want to give it a try." It could be a mistake. I might get hurt, but for now, it feels right.
It was the first time she felt love; the first time she was in love. Though she knew his bad reputation with women and it was possible that she could be one of the girls he had, she wanted to love, rather love and get hurt than regret.
To love, to experience, to live, even madly. To live a real-life!
Her smile turned brighter. Lisa understood as she was once young and had loved before, but somehow she felt a sudden sorrow inside her.
Why? It's a great thing to be in love, to see her in love. Why do I feel sad? Why am I worried? A sudden weight was put on her heart, and she couldn't understand where it came from.
"Nathalia, remember, whatever happens, you will always have Sophie and me." She looked into Nathalia's eyes to ensure her. She knew there wasn't much she could do but support Nathalia.
I sincerely hope she won't get hurt again. She prayed.
It touched Nathalia's heart. She genuinely cares about me. Tears filled her eyes as she leaned on Lisa's shoulder and said, "Thank you. I'm so grateful to have you two." The mixed fragrance of laundry and cooking greeted Nathalia's nose. It smelled of home. Is this the smell of mom? Nathalia wondered.
Lisa could hear the quivering in Nathalia's voice, and it made her want to cry. She wants to love so much. How can anyone hurt a girl that needs love so much? Is it all about money in these so-called renowned and rich families?

"By the way, it's weird that there hasn't been any news about the Carters." Lisa suddenly remembered.
It was strange. The Carter couple would normally do whatever they could to stop the engagement ceremony. It had been over a week, and nothing had happened yet. This wasn't normal.
Nathalia frowned. She felt like she could perceive a storm was coming. "True. It's weird, but let's not worry much. Whatever will happen will happen, and we will find a way out." She sat up as she replied and caught sight of a figure hurrying past. "It's him." She sounded a bit startled.
Lisa followed Nathalia's eyes and looked, but she didn't see anyone. "Who?"
Nathalia knitted her brows and stood up. "Ms. Watson, can you wait for me here for a few minutes? I will be back soon." She walked out of the room and followed the man to the next room.
His hair looked messy and his face unshaven, he was clad in dirty old clothes. A middle-aged man with tired eyes stood in front of an expensively-dressed couple. He was begging them.
"Please, Mr. Norton. I didn't do it. I..."
The man seated was his boss, Bill Norton, and the woman, Bill's mistress, glanced at him and said impatiently, "Shut up. We have proof. You can't deny it. Tomorrow you will get your last pay. Now get out."
Idiot. You are stealing from the company. How dare you?! You should be grateful we didn't call the police.
"No, I didn't. I didn't do it. Believe me. Please, Mr. Norton. I can't lose this job. My boy is very sick. I need the money. Please." He almost cried.
The mistress put on a frown on her heavily made-up face, and in a flirtatious tone, she said to Bill Norton, "Honey, he's so annoying. I can't even enjoy my coffee here."

"Don't get upset, darling. Let's go somewhere else." Bill took a glance at Joe Murry and walked out with his mistress.
Joe, you are very competent, but dishonesty is unacceptable. Bill thought.
Joe Murry followed them to the door, still begging, but the couple paid no attention to him. Desperately, he kneeled down at the door, and in tears, he cried out, "Mr. Norton, please, have mercy on my family. Please."
Joe had worked for the company for over twenty years since he was young, and now somehow, he had been accused of stealing and got fired. With a record of stealing from the company, it was pretty much impossible for him to get another job.
He had a son who was terribly sick and needed money for treatment; however, Bill Norton did not care. What am I going to do now? God. Why? What have I done to deserve this?
He cried hopelessly.
"They are not coming back. Get up." Nathalia said loudly. She remembered in her previous life, and Joe was the man who helped Anne Carter create a famous cosmetic company. Anne wasn't good at managing and refused to let her husband take over, so the company didn't make much money, but it did gain her a lot of fame. One of their products even won a world award in the cosmetic field.
Joe invented the product. He seemed like no one special, but in fact, a biochemistry genius. He wasn't discovered until he met Anne Carter, who cared about her face more than anyone and anything.
But hasn't he met Anne Carter yet? Nathalia recalled and wondered. Anyway, this is a great chance, and I shall not miss it.
Joe turned around to see a pretty young girl standing behind him, and he started sobbing. His son was about the same age as Nathalia, but he was sick in bed, waiting for money for surgery.
Nathalia knitted her brows and said calmly, "Crying doesn't help. It doesn't solve problems. Get up. I don't like guys who beg. How much money do you need for your son? Give me a number, and I will figure it out."
Joe looked up at Nathalia instantly, tears on his face, eyes-wide-open. "Are you serious? Can you help me? Are you not lying? But who are you?"
It's impossible. Help just suddenly appeared? Nothing is free.
Nathalia went up to him, helped him get up, and said, "I'm Nathalia Carter. I will take care of the hospital bills for your son, but there are conditions."
Now it sounded more real to Joe. Conditions mean possibility. I will do whatever for my son.
Just then, a mocking voice came from behind, "Nathalia, you betrayed your own father, but you are being so nice to a stranger. That's unusual. What are you plotting this time? Huh? This gentleman, If I were you, I would not trust someone who betrayed her father."

His eyes had turned bloodshot and his hands shook with rage. “The first thirty…” “Shut up!” Genzo bellowed “How dare you help these disrespectful gaijin?” Flecks of spit and madness flew from his face, his fist raised ready to strike. But Emi did not flinch, instead she was about ready to continue when Yuma Takeuchi interrupted her. “Uchida, please,” her sweet sounding words could melt ice. “I think we will have a better chance of getting home if we all work together.” When she glanced up with her sleepy looking eyes at Genzo Uchida he deflated visibly. “Were not getting home.” Uchida said coolly. “Group summoning, large, that puts us in the 60 series. No one came to greet us after five minutes of arrival. That leaves scenarios 68 and 69. In scenario 68 there is something that binds the large group together; they are all classmates or a single family. But thanks to the gaijin” he spit out the word “I think we are scenario 69 with no way home.” Ikko Inoue’s eyes went wide, while Katsukno and Hayata started muttering to themselves. Tim took on a serious look and rubbed his scruffy chin. Emi maintained her stoic expression while trying to find something to refute. McKenzie glanced at Randall and giggled. Randall took the prompting of his teammate and followed up by approaching Genzo. “Uh, so we are in a sixty-nine?” “Yes.” Replied Genzo with the seriousness of someone who’s life was about to end. McKenzie covered her mouth and snickered. “You and me, were stuck in a sixty-nine situation?” Randall pushed with a grin. “Yes, we are all stuck in a sixty-nine scenario together!” Genzo retorted in anger. McKenzie fell on her butt laughing. “What the hell is so funny?” Demanded Genzo, whose face had turned red. “It’s a problem with the automatic translation.” Retorted Tim. Randall, who seemed unable to quit started in again “So, about this sixty-ni…” Genzo interrupted Randall with a swift punch to the face. But, because of their height difference it was a bit of an uppercut that left Randall rattled. Tim and Ikko moved to step in between the two, but Genzo showed no further hostility. Instead he just stared at his clenched fist with such intensity it grabbed the attention of the room. “I unlocked a skill.” He said bluntly. ***************************** This is not a light novel, but people who like light novels should enjoy the themes of this book. ***************************** A Map of the Region
