The Rise Of Nathalia Carter Chapter 158

The police had never encountered anyone like Nathalia. She wasn't arrogant, nor the least violent, but there was something about her that demanded respect and even obedience.
In just a few minutes, Nathalia had taken control of the situation, and the interrogation room became her territory. They had no idea how she did it.
She's definitely a strange one—a threatening rival. I can't believe she's just eighteen years old. The police thought.
"I'm not sentenced, and I'm not a criminal. Well, if you can't afford it, no worries. I will pay. What do you want for breakfast? I have the money." Elbows on the table and holding her chin in her hands, Nathalia looked up at them and said casually.
"You are very arrogant! No wonder you would do such a horrible thing to Mrs. Davidson." The police slapped the table and said furiously.
Nathalia replied with a smile and stared at them like she couldn't care less. "I'm not that stupid. I have the money. If I really want to kill someone, I can just pay someone to do it. Why would I do it myself? I don't want to make my hands dirty, do I? Huh?" She showed her disdain towards them evidently. Nathalia said as she played with her fingers.
As one of the main shareholders of Carter's company, the owner of The Tread, the ex-fiancée of Spencer Davidson, she wasn't a rival for just anybody. But, of course, if she had behaved a bit weak, these titles wouldn't help her much either.
The interrogators found their lips twitching in frustration. I've had enough. They both thought. Just then, there was a knock at the door.
"Someone is bailing her out."
Nathalia sat straight up, thinking, he's quick!
By this time, the interrogators were actually happy to hear that someone could take Nathalia away. She's such a pain in the ass. You can't threaten her. You can't scare her. You can't beat her. There's nothing you can do.

"Who is it?"
A tall, good-looking guy appeared at the door. The interrogators were shocked, "Sir Matt Miller? Is it you again? What's between you two?" It's weird that every time we got Nathalia Carter, he showed up to help.
Matt frowned at them, then nodded to Nathalia, "Nathalia, you can leave now."
Nathalia stood up, cheerfully. "Thanks for coming." She said with a bright smile. It shone at Matt like the morning sunlight, and it took away the worries in his head, even just for a few seconds.
"You ok? I hope they didn't trouble you much. If there's anything you need, just let me know." Matt said gently.
Matt Miller is known for his justness. No criminals can ever escape him. The interrogators thought. "Sir Matt Miller, you are an officer yourself. It's not right to help a suspect." One of them said hurriedly and regretted it as soon as he said it.
Matt's face turned stern, and he glared at the guy. "First of all, she's a friend of mine. I can trust her. Secondly, what do you mean by helping a suspect? What did my friend do? Are you the judge?"
The interrogators were dripping sweat, scared, and worried. How he wished he didn't say those words to Matt. "I'm er…I didn't mean that."
Now Matt had also recognized the guy. It's him again. Is he after Nathalia? Matt wondered. He looked into the guy's eyes and said coldly, "We do the same job, and I hope we both understand the law and regulations well. Miss Nathalia Carter is not a suspect, not a criminal; instead, she's here to help us investigate. You should not try to force or induce someone to confess..."
"No. No. No. Of course not. And we didn't." The interrogators cut in instantly. Even if we wanted to, we would not dare.

Nathalia pouted her lips, thinking, huh, you guys were acting fearless just then, and now you are like cowards.
"I will see if I should sue them for trying to force me to admit something that I didn't do," Nathalia added as she picked up her bag and was ready to leave.
The interrogators gasped, their jaws dropped, and anxiously they went running after Nathalia. "Wait, wait. Miss Nathalia Carter. There must be some misunderstanding. We sincerely apologize." They pleaded.
Nathalia rolled her eyes and replied indifferently, "Apologies not accepted, the law speaks louder than apologies."
Rumors and gossips were heard all around town, but Nathalia seemed to be oblivious to them. She would go to classes and worked at The Trend as usual. When the gossipers saw how calm and indifferent Nathalia was, they saw that it was useless to even try to make a scene.
Nathalia had been to the hospital a few times or tried to get in, but every time when she got to the door, she was stopped and not allowed to go in. She could only get the news from the doctor. Hearing that Spencer and Curt had been taking turns to visit and stay with Mrs. Davidson, she felt for them.
It was Lisa's birthday soon. Nathalia and Sophie were shopping in the mall, present hunting. By the time they got some nice gifts, it was dinner time, and the girls were too tired to walk far, so they picked a café in the shopping mall. It was actually one of Nathalia's favorite cafés, small, but with great food.
It was busy and pretty much packed, but when the waiter saw Nathalia coming in, he ushered them to a quiet private room.
As Nathalia was enjoying her meal, Sophie tapped her shoulder. Nathalia looked up and followed Sophie's finger-pointing to a table close by. "Look, Nathalia," Sophie whispered.
The familiar figure right in front of her, Nathalia's heart skipped a beat. Unconsciously, she stood up and walked towards him, her heart pounding.
Sophie wasn't sure what to do. She wanted to stop Nathalia but didn't dare to interrupt her. This is so complicated. My God. What can I do?
Anna caught sight of the first. Her smiley face froze, then turned shocked, then a sneer appeared. It looked like she had just come up with some malicious thoughts.
"Hey, Nathalia Carter. What a coincidence! Would you like to join us?" Anna said, pretending to be friendly while thinking, you, bitch, how dare you show up?!
The familiar figure seemed to freeze for a second. So many thoughts and emotions stirred up in Nathalia's mind; she wondered how he was doing.
"Why not," Nathalia replied with a smile. Within just two seconds, she shook the thoughts off her head and sat down next to Spencer, then she pointed at the seat opposite, "Sophie, why don't you sit down with us?"
She was herself again, with her positive energy and aura. As usual, she found her place and took the lead.
