The Rise Of Nathalia Carter Chapter 218

I didn't drink much. It must have been the excitement. Nathalia thought. I shall freshen up too. So much crying from joy.
"I will go with you." Spencer offered immediately.
Nathalia blushed at the offer. "I'm only going to the bathroom. It's not fair. I will ask the bodyguards." She said shyly. Though grateful for his protectiveness, she would like to have some privacy.
Spencer glanced around. Ben and Evette were holding hands, socializing with the guests. The Berry sisters were sitting in a corner, one crying and the other comforting.
He thought it should be ok and agreed to have the bodyguards go with Nathalia.
Accompanied by the bodyguards, Nathalia went down the stairs and, directed by a waiter, went into the bathroom. The bodyguards stood outside, watching the people passing by carefully.
As soon as Nathalia came out from the toilet, she was met by a baseball bat. Bang. Right at her head. She fell onto the floor, unconscious.
The splash of cold water awakened her. She shivered and slowly regained consciousness only to find that she had been tied up by thick and heavy ropes to the railing on a rooftop. Her face and hair were soaking wet, icy water dripping down. Where am I? Where are the bodyguards?
"Awake?" A cold voice said in the dark.
Nathalia's heart sank, hearing the familiar voice. "It's you, Anne Carter." I have been so cautious, yet still, I haven't managed to escape fate.
Anne came forward from the dark; threw the bat on the floor; a knife in her hand, she had a murderous look on. She smiled maliciously as she looked Nathalia up and down. The water had spoiled the make-up and smeared her face, her hair and clothes wet.
"Finally, Nathalia Carter, I've waited for so long for today."

The night breeze brought the vaguely audible music from a distance. It sounded lively, yet it made Nathalia shiver. It's familiar music, like in previous life. There was laughter and joy in the distance, and I was suffering in the dark. Is this going to happen again?
"What do you want?"
Wearing a cleaner's uniform, without make-up on, Anne Carter looked like she had aged 20 years. She had the look of a miserable old granny.
Her eyes were red. It was fury. "The world would be so much better without you! As long as you are dead, everything will be fine again. Our family will have everything again." She shouted angrily.
"Help! Help!" Nathalia screamed, her heart pounding. The feeling of death was back. Fear gripped her heart.
"It's useless. No one can hear you." Anne Carter came closer to Nathalia as she said icily, threateningly.
Is this it? Is this it? What's going to happen to Spencer if I'm dead? Spencer was the first person she thought of.
She tried to suppress the immense fear inside her and calmed herself down. "Don't you remember my will? You are too naïve." If Nathalia was dead, the Carters would not get a cent.
"We will get what we want even if we can't get your money. As long as you are DEAD..." The hatred in her tone was frightening.
"Nathalia Carter, do you have any idea how much I hate you?" Her voice was trembling from anger, yet every word was pronounced intentionally clear. "It would be too easy for you if I just slice your head off."
Anne Carter wanted Nathalia to suffer before she died. She wanted to see her go through all the possible pain so she could let out all the fury accumulated in her.

She had regretted more than once that she didn't get rid of Nathalia in the very beginning and her family had to suffer so much.
What does that mean? There's someone behind all of this? Who is it? Nathalia thought. She glanced around. It looked like a different side of the rooftop. It was quiet and dark here, probably the staff's secret spot for a break from work.
On the other side of the rooftop, beautiful lights were on; people were laughing and talking; lively music was playing.
It was like hell and heaven.
It was when the wind brought a shiver on Nathalia's back that she realized she had been sweating from fear. Be brave, Nathalia. Be brave. She kept telling herself.
"If you kill me, you won't be able to escape your punishment from the law. Also, Spencer will get revenge for me." The only thing she could do now was to wait, to wait for him to come and save her. Would she be so lucky again this time?
She dared not think about it but knew that she could only try to delay the visit to death.
Anne placed the knife right on Nathalia's face. A vicious smile appeared on her face as she said, "We could leave Italy and come all the way here without being noticed. Doesn't that say something? Huh?"
Nathalia's heart sank. Who is it that plotted it? Who is it that's helping them? Who has such power?
All of a sudden, Anne grabbed Nathalia's shoulder and turned her around, forcing her to look out of the railing and down at the bottomless fall to the lights on the streets, the only things visible.
"Look! Take a good look! How do you like that? 28th floor. Hahaha. You will be utterly smashed, and no one would be able to recognize you!" Her laughter was filled with resentment and malice.
Nathalia took a glance and looked away. Her face turned pale, and her legs shook. However, the more fear she felt, the more courage was awakened inside her. I won't just give up. I have to at least fight till the end.
She sat up with her back straight and said coldly, "So Evette was just here to distract the crowd while you are the one who takes real actions. Ha. Not a bad scheme at all. However, everyone knows you are not clever enough to think of such a plan. So, who is it?"
Nathalia had by then realized what a trap it was set up. Someone just hired Ben, Evette, and even Anne. She was the target for sure.
Anne was taken aback, a bit shocked by Nathalia's reaction, then she sneered, "Ha. You are very smart, but it's too late. Don't you try to waste time? No one's coming to save you this time. So long!"
Anne exclaimed, pushed Nathalia over the railing, and sent her flying in the air. Bang. The rope tightened as Nathalia's back hit the wall, her hands still tied by the rope to the railing. She gasped in pain.
