The Rise Of Nathalia Carter Chapter 227

Sophie turned to look at the girl, who was dressed fashionably, looking arrogant, and demanding. Who is she? Sophie wondered.
Matt glanced at Amy Berry standing by the lift, then Sophie, and replied, "Someone unimportant." Cold and cruel, his answer was. It stabbed Sophie's heart like a knife. Tears filled her eyes. "Matt..." she uttered quietly and helplessly.
Amy smiled victoriously, went and grabbed Matt's arm, rested her head on his shoulder, and announced, "Listen, girl, don't come to bother my man again. We are getting married soon."
Her man? Are they getting married? It shocked Sophie mercilessly. Her face went pale. "What? Really? Matt, is it true?" Everything turned meaningless in an instant. Her heart was aching terribly.
Amy all smiled. "Of course, it's true. Shouldn't you congratulate us?" She said triumphantly. Matt bit his lips slightly. It looked like he was about to say something, but he didn't at the end.
Tears filled Sophie's eyes, but she managed to smile at them and said calmly, "Congratulations. Matt's a good man. You are a lucky one. Please look after him."
Amy laughed out loud, "Oh, for sure. I will look after my man. Just a little reminder to you, if you ever show up and bother us again, I won't let you off so easily." Huh, I know what you are thinking. Don't you dare to covet my man?
Sophie was shivering, but she didn't shed a tear in front of them. "No worries. I won't. Matt, I hope you are happy. Goodbye."
She couldn't take it anymore, stumbling into the lift. As soon as she found herself safe and alone in the lift, she burst into tears.
Matt pushed Amy away and turned to leave. The smile on Amy's face froze. "Why? Do you care about her? Why don't you go chase her then?" She said angrily. Is there something going on between the two of them? She was worried.

Amy kept asking questions, which really irritated Matt. "I'm tired. What do you come here?"
Why is he always so cold to me? We are getting married soon! I've never seen him show any passion or affection. Amy was so enraged that she stomped her feet helplessly. I'm going to be his wife. He has to change his attitude.
However, she swallowed her feeling of injustice and managed to reply in a cheerful tone, "My parents have arranged dinner with your father to talk about our marriage. We need to hurry up."
Matt didn't want to go, and he'd shown it on his face, but Amy took no notice of it, and instead, she grabbed his arm and led him away. "Come on. Let's go."
In a private room at a Japanese restaurant, Nathalia sat quietly at a table, glancing around. It was the most expensive Japanese restaurant in town, with classic décor, delicately presented dishes. However, Nathalia wasn't really a fan of Japanese cuisine. She came because Mrs. Davidson loved it.
"Why? I thought you liked the food here?" She looked at Mrs. Davidson sitting opposite her, looking displeased and having not touched the food.
Nathalia helped order the food Mrs. Davidson liked, got her sake, talked to her, despite the indifferent look on Mrs. Davidson's face.
She believed in doing what she should and wanted to do, feeling no guilt or regret. Whatever the outcome was, she could not control.
Mrs. Davidson seemed to have heavy thoughts. She was holding the cup of sake, looking at Nathalia. Her lips moved a couple of times, but she still didn't say a word.
Nathalia ate quietly while waiting.
"Why don't you..." Mrs. Davidson started, then stopped.
She didn't dislike Nathalia. On the contrary, she loved her frankness and honesty. However, she couldn't bear the thought of Nathalia bringing danger to her son.

Nathalia could guess what Mrs. Davidson wanted to say. She sighed, "Why don't you just tell me? Get it out. It will do everyone good." She had been good to Mrs. Davidson. She loved Spencer, and she loved his mother. However, how Mrs. Davidson would think of her was not for her to decide.
"The thing is, will you listen to me?" Mrs. Davidson asked, annoyed by Nathalia's calm and indifferent look.
She's always so calm like nothing affects her, just like Curt Davidson. Mrs. Davidson thought.
"I will listen as long as you don't force me to leave Spencer." Nathalia lifted her eyebrows, had a sip of sake, and answered. She could understand Mrs. Davidson's concern as a mother, but she would not compromise and betray her own heart either.
Mrs. Davidson sensed that Nathalia meant what she said. She said frankly, "Tell me the truth, what actually happened, every detail, not lies."
Nathalia was rather taken aback as she expected Mrs. Davidson to ask her to break up with Spencer and disappear.
"You seem different," Nathalia said.
"Don't try to change the subject." Mrs. Davidson said impatiently.
Nathalia shrugged her shoulders, and in detail, she depicted the whole incident to Mrs. Davidson, including that someone wanted to kill her, that Nancy was trying to kill Spencer but ended up killing herself, etc.
Mrs. Davidson listened nervously, her hands clenched in fists, sweating. She didn't care much about Nancy, thinking she was just one of the many mistresses Curt had, but she had not expected that she would try to kill her son. That bitch! She deserved to die. I would kill her myself if she was still alive. Huh.
"That's what happened. I know I've done nothing wrong, but there's always someone trying to hurt me. I'm sorry that Spencer was involved and got hurt because of me. I know how you feel, and I understand that you worry, but I'm not leaving Spencer." Nathalia concluded and had another sip of sake.
Mrs. Davidson heaved a sigh. The story was still bothering her. "What if it happens again?" She questioned. She understood very well what Spencer was like, stubborn like herself, and he would not listen to her. It was the first time he'd fallen in love. Nathalia was very special to him. Yet, as a mother, she couldn't allow someone who would bring danger to stay with her son.
Nathalia was not a usual girl, too honest and frank, and people like her somehow attracted enemies. She didn't dare to imagine what kind of danger her son would be in in the future.
I can't allow it to happen. I can't have my son hurt again and again. She thought determinedly.

Magic. Math. Not a whole lot of context. Two months ago, I was a wormhole navigator, ripping open a hole in the universe to save a ship of people who only vaguely tolerated me. Two weeks ago, long story short, I threaded an impossible path through the void between dimensions to crash-land into a dungeon. You know the kind: monsters to defeat, corridors full of traps to avoid, and magical powers to earn. I'm not ashamed to admit that it's been two weeks of loneliness, fear, adrenaline, and constant injury. But I'll make it out of here by myself if I have to, or my name isn't Adam Leviathan James. ... too bad the Levi doesn't stand for Leviathan, huh. AN: Expectations should include in medias res, violence, smut, friendship, and powers/progression systems with absolutely an insufficiency of context and (at least at first) no definitions or explanations, and magic-as-programming/engineering (with something of an emphasis on "what if magical runework were an analogue to circuit diagrams"). Legends of The Wesh: Lochley
The Universe is held together by something. It is an undisputable truth but nobody knows what that something is. People claim that it is connected by The Path of Legends, where Gods traversed trying to find the meaning of their own existence. Others claim that the universe is a Tree, connecting worlds with its extending branches and giving life-bearing fruits to its inhabitants. Several even claimed that the Universe is just a colony of ants, that this universe and the worlds in it are just as insignificant as insects. In one of the Worlds in it, the arrival of someone signaled great changes. Gods will die, Trees will Rot, Insects will burn. Those at the top had fallen and they will upend the worlds trying to claim what was theirs. Those at the bottom have had enough of scraps and they yearned to devour the fruits of the worlds. Those that were innocent and caught in between had no choice but to persist, lest they get erased by the surging tides. Nobody knows where will they end, but everybody knew where they started. They will not be judged, they will not be rebuked, they will not be curbed, they will not be vanquished. The universe is their canvas and it’s time — time to paint their truths upon it. Azrael was born as a prince in the warring world of Ost. Inheriting the title but not its privileges and oppressed by his siblings in every step of his life, he had no choice but to be subservient to their whims until circumstances spiraled him to the abyss, to a new world, and to more agreeable companions. A memory, a memory of a boy who wanted more than pain, of a girl who wanted more than death, and an Isle that should not exist. The Isle of Red is a small, unassuming, quiet place. It is just large enough for a college, a small town, and maybe even a few more unusual sorts of places. Of course, the townsfolk practically know each other as family. Flush-faced regulars can be found toasting just about anything in the Briar's Brew, then, a few streets away, the same haggle of older women stationed themselves on their perch as they did every day from one of the few balconies in Central Square. They fuss away now, spouting the usual gossip as they watch us all from on high. Then there is the College here on the Isle of Red. My college. It has been often described as an unusual place by a good deal of people on the mainland. If they only would visit -why I am sure they'll soon have a change of heart, they may even come to find it a quaint sort of place, odd but in the same way a tattered old quilt can be both odd looking and warm, and especially soft. We teach mostly the same sort of disciplines here, with fantastic and absolutely normal professors.I must conclude that I am quite smitten with myself. The stage is set with a level of perfection that would have astonished me in my youth. They are coming. Derek will follow her. He knows the weight of reality too intimately, but she will be his true north if only for a short time. She holds onto questions feverishly tight, that one. Lights them up inside like a new type of fuel without the slightest worry of being burned. She knows... There is but a certain few who can look at a map and find nothing where I stand but the Atlantic Ocean.
