The Rise Of Nathalia Carter Chapter 228

Nathalia frowned and sighed. "I don't know. I'm confused too. However, whatever happens, I want to be with Spencer. I love him, and he loves me." That was the reason. Two people stayed together because they loved each other, as simple as that.
Even if the whole world was against it, she would not give up.
As long as Spencer stayed, she would never walk away.
Mrs. Davidson listened and watched her. She could see the determination in Nathalia's eyes, proud and confident, shining. That's why she wins my son's heart. She thought. However, this is also the reason why there will be a danger.
"You are selfish. You know that you can get Spencer in danger." She said frankly. She wanted a gentle, loveable, and amiable daughter-in-law, and Nathalia wasn't that kind of girl.
Her eyes sparkled, and she spoke like a warrior, "Right. I'm not like other girls that would just give and compromise. I believe in fighting for what one loves. I'm sorry that I disappointed you."
Mrs. Davidson was astonished by her non negotiable attitude. I've never met a girl as candor as she is. Yet somehow, she's convincing.
Mrs. Davidson felt sudden envy for Nathalia's bravery, willfulness, and fearlessness. "You are an odd girl. However, have you thought about if anything happens to Spencer because of you..." Her voice sounded more gentle now.
Nathalia was silent for a while. She seemed to be deep in thought. "When death was just an inch away, I asked Spencer to let go and save himself, but he said he would follow me, heaven or hell." She said calmly. "So would I."
The light shone above her. Her hair flowed under it; her face looked gentle yet determined, an unquestionable beauty.
Mrs. Davidson felt like something touched her heart. She saw her younger self in Nathalia. She had once loved like Nathalia did now; she had once fought for it, however.

"What if you regret it in the future?" Mrs. Davidson asked, this time, calmly. She herself had failed. Though she tried the hardest she could, she didn't get what she wanted. She fought for love, but love wasn't rewarded.
A smile slowly appeared on Nathalia's face. It was a content smile. "No one knows what the future holds for us. To give up what you love now for the worry of things that might happen in the future, things that we don't have control of does not make sense to me. I live for now. I live for what I love." She had the passion and hope for love and life like her peers, young and lively, yet what was different about her was her wisdom, her determination, her intelligence that exceeded her age.
"You are nuts, Nathalia. A lucky one." Mrs. Davidson smiled and composed. She understood Nathalia.
She recalled the young and fearless days when she was once as brave and passionate as Nathalia. However, how it ended wasn't something that she wanted to remember.
They heard the door next door open. The waiter welcomed the guests overly courteously. Out of curiosity, both pricked up their ears.
Nathalia wondered who it was that requested the waiter's extra courteousness. It was known that the waiters at this restaurant treated guests warmly and equally. They were welcoming to Nathalia, but not overly. I guess equality is relative. She thought.
The walls weren't really soundproof, and they could hear a few different voices, some sounding rather familiar. Nathalia knitted her brows, trying to think who they were. When she looked up, she saw Mrs. Davidson's face turn furious.
"Why? I hope I didn't make you angry?" She asked tentatively.
Mrs. Davidson glanced at Nathalia impatiently and said, "Hush."

Nathalia had a feeling that something bad was going to happen.
It was Curt, Matt, and the Berry family in the neighboring room, having a discussion about the marriage.
Vincent Berry, Amy's father, was all smiling. "I think the wedding should be within the next few months. What do you think, Mr. Davidson?" Vincent was very excited about the wedding as the marriage would bring great benefits to the Berry family.
Though the Berry family was one of the wealthiest families in town, compared to the Davidsons, they were not even worth mentioning.
At first, he thought that it was just his daughter's wish. He had not expected that the Davidson family was interested. It was a most delightful surprise.
Matt was talented, handsome, and outstanding. Though he was the son of Curt Davidson and his mistress, Curt cared about him. Also, as he was one of Curt's only two sons, it was very likely that he would have some heritage from Curt in the future.
The Berry family were all very pleased with the marriage, especially Amy. She looked so eager and happy as if the wedding was tomorrow.
Curt looked at his son, Matt, who showed not a slight bit of excitement at all. "Have you thought it over? Are you sure?" He asked calmly.
Everyone was taken aback on hearing so. Have they not discussed it before? What does he mean?
Neither Matt nor Curt showed any excitement, both looking indifferent. Is this wedding really going to happen? They worried. Well, I guess it's understandable, considering that Matt's mother passed away just recently.
Matt nodded and answered, rather seriously, "Yes, dad. I will follow mum's wish and marry Amy Berry." He sounded so distant as if he was talking about someone else's marriage, not his own.
It brought a frown between Curt's brows. He's changed a lot recently and grown distant from me. Curt cared, but he felt helpless.
"I see as you wish then. I just don't want you to regret it." Curt answered. He had always let both of his sons do what they wanted. One turned out to be wild and fearless, the other serious and strict, two totally different characters.
The conversation, be it short and brief, between the father and son, puzzled the Berry family. Isn't it supposed to be a happy event? Why do they sound so upset about it?
Mrs. Berry pouted her lips, looking displeased, thinking He's marrying my beautiful daughter Amy. Why is he so cold?
However, seeing her daughter's happy face, she decided not to mention it. Instead, she said, "When do you think it is a good day? It seems a bit of a rush as we will need to prepare and arrange..."
"The sooner, the better. I don't really care much about the rest..." Amy interrupted eagerly.
