The Rise Of Nathalia Carter Chapter 245

Jeff looked at them for a little while before he broke the beautiful silence. "Congratulations, young girl. You've just got a large property. Aren't you a lucky one, having so much money, for free, at such a young age?" He said mockingly.
Nathalia had guessed that Spencer would use her name and didn't question it. She pouted her lips at Jeff's comment and said confidently, "Please call me Mrs. Davidson."
Spencer joined in, "Or the president of the Carters' company, the heir of the Carters, the youngest president of the BOD of an established company."
Jeff listened with his eyes wide open, gazing at Nathalia. It looks like I've misunderstood her.
"She's from a rich family?" He asked in disbelief.
It dawned on Nathalia that he was looking down upon her because of her background, or his wrong guess of it. It's true that money talks, I guess. People judge you based on how rich you are—what a sad truth.
Spencer took Nathalia's hand to his lips and planted a kiss on it. "Well, the company is worth tens of billions."
Jeff looked Nathalia up and down doubtfully as he recalled the girls that Spencer used to date. Spencer never dated girls from rich families because most of them were spoiled girls with just a look and an empty mind. Those that were smart and good-looking were usually from an ordinary family with limited money.
Now that he thought about it, he realized that Nathalia was actually very good-mannered, mature, elegant, and well-educated. He patted his forehead and heaved a sigh. I was overthinking then.
Nathalia had encountered all sorts of people and was used to people's presumption and judging. She didn't care much about it. As long as Spencer understood and trusted her, that was what mattered to her.

Spencer suddenly remembered something and asked Nathalia, "By the way, what happened to the fortune your grandpa left you?" He had not heard her mention it and didn't think about it.
Nathalia had completely forgotten about it. She now recalled receiving a phone call from a bank in Switzerland, but it was when Spencer was injured and hospitalized, and her mind was too troubled to deal with it at the time.
"I've totally forgotten about it. Would you like to go to Switzerland with me please?"
"For sure." Spencer agreed happily, "and we can have our honeymoon there." He grinned.
"A fortune? How much?" Jeff asked excitedly.
It was then when Spencer and Nathalia remembered Jeff was still there. They both turned to look at Jeff, then looked at each other and laughed.
"Mrs. Davidson, I sincerely apologize for my terrible manners earlier. Please don't take it to heart. We are partners now. If you know any good opportunities to make good money, please don't forget to let me know." Jeff said courteously with a grin.
When money was involved, Jeff grew passionate. Making money was indeed where his passion lay.
Nathalia couldn't help laughing out loud, finding his bluntness amusing. "A true businessman you are, Jeff. Just call me Nathalia." I have to say, compared to those smug and sanctimonious 'gentlemen,' he's much easier to get along with.
There was a scuttling sound of footsteps approaching the door, and soon in came a young blonde girl. "Jeff, my dear brother, I need your help. I've gone over my credit limit..." She said in a rush, then suddenly paused when she noticed Spencer seated on the sofa. Her face lit up. She quickly tidied her hair and her dress, took out a mirror from her bag, checked. Then slowly, she walked over to Spencer and said bashfully, "Spencer, how are you? I haven't seen you for such a long time."

Then she turned to her brother and complained rather reproachfully, "Jeff, why didn't you tell me that Spencer is here? I could have been better prepared."
I wish I was wearing the new red dress today, oh, and the high heels. She thought regretfully.
"Spencer. How long are you staying? I would love to accompany you while you are here." Katie said excitedly, completely oblivious to Nathalia, who was sitting right next to Spencer.
She's as peculiar as her brother. Nathalia thought.
Spencer frowned, feeling a bit awkward, and looked at Jeff. Jeff understood. He rolled his eyes helplessly, heaved a sigh, and said, "Katie, meet Spencer's wife, Nathalia. They have just got married and come here for a holiday. You know, they would like to have some private time..."
Jeff knew that his sister had adored Spencer for years. Though she had dated numerous guys, she could never get over Spencer. He didn't disagree, but he could tell that Spencer was never interested in Katie, at least not in the way of considering her as a girlfriend.
"Wife?! Spencer, you are married?!" Katie exclaimed in disbelief. Her jaw dropped. Now she finally noticed Nathalia. "This girl? Why didn't you let me know when you wanted to get married? I would happily marry you..." It was ridiculous what Katie was saying. Spencer couldn't stand it and quickly stood up, holding Nathalia's hand.
"It's getting late. I think it's time for us to leave. Jeff, I will call you before I leave Vegas." Spencer said casually without taking a look at Katie. Nathalia noticed and felt comforted.
"Cool. Congratulations again! Talk to you soon." Jeff gave Spencer and Nathalia a hug and said goodbye.
When they got to the door, Spencer kissed Nathalia and asked gently, "Babe, you looked tired. Would you like me to carry you?"
"Jeff's sister's watching..." Nathalia said quietly and blushed. Spencer lifted her up and carried her in her arms. "Hey..."
"I don't care. There are jealous people everywhere. I'm married to the best girl." Spencer said proudly.
Katie watched them leave, standing still. After a while, she finally spoke, "Jeff, tell me I have a bad dream. It's impossible that Spencer got married. He's the man of my dreams. He can't be married.
Jeff patted her head gently, "Silly girl. He's not for you. He loves his wife. Forget him." He didn't think Katie truly loved Spencer, it was more of pure adoration, or she would not have dated many guys.
Katie pouted her lips, "But..." Even if I can't be with him, I don't want him to be married. I can't accept it. How can he be someone else's husband?!
"You know what Spencer is like. I wouldn't interfere if I were you. It will do us no good." Jeff persuaded, thinking Katie doesn't really care much about anything or anyone, but with Spencer, it's been years, and she never forgets him. I don't understand.
He was about to mention the petrol business, but gave it a second thought and decided against it.
