The Rise Of Nathalia Carter Chapter 307

They were indeed touched by Nathalia by how genuine and real she was.
Emma was shocked to see that everyone was supporting Nathalia now. Why? Why do they trust her so much?!
"Huh! You are too naïve. It's true that money talks, but money is nothing when one has no power. How do you think she got rid of her father so easily? Huh? Do you think she did it all on her own? It was because of Curt! That's how she got the Carter company!"Emma retorted. She said it with so much confidence that the crowd grew doubtful.
"Well..." some hesitated. It kind of makes sense. She might be right.
Regaining confidence, Emma added, "Poor Frank Carter. He was once so successful. He failed all because he had raised a daughter who betrayed him."
She glared at Nathalia only to feel defeated by Nathalia's reaction. As if she had not heard a word, Nathalia was holding one of Spencer's hands and observing and fiddling about with his fingers casually, thinking my honey's got really nice hands with slim fingers.
The crowd found Nathalia's response, or to be exact, the lack of response, rather amusing. The less she cared about Emma's accusation, the more convinced the crowd was of her innocence.
Emma was as enraged as helpless. It seemed to her that Nathalia was invincible, and she had no idea what strategy she could use at all.
Spencer, however, wasn't as calm as Nathalia. He couldn't allow himself to ignore Emma's insult. "You are not completely wrong. True, Nathalia didn't do it all on her own as she had my help. I gave her the shares to help her defeat the evil Frank Carter. Do you have a problem with that?" he snapped.
The crowd never knew that Spencer had got involved with Nathalia taking over the company. "Wow, we never heard. That makes sense, thinking about it." Someone commented. No wonder Frank Carter, smart though he was, was utterly defeated. It wasn't just his daughter he was dealing with, but also Spencer Davidson!

Spencer put his arm around Nathalia's shoulder, looking at her affectionately, and said, "It was supposed to be our privacy, and we didn't intend to tell anyone, but now that some nobody is accusing my wife, I can't tolerate it. I'm sure you all know very well what kind of life Nathalia used to live, how hard she had to fight to survive, especially when she was almost beaten to death by her own family! Even thinking back now, it hurts me..."
That was the first time when he questioned his own feelings towards Nathalia and realized how much he cared about her and decided to protect her, to love her.
Spencer grew tearful as he went on, "I have promised myself that I will protect Nathalia and make sure Frank Carter gets what he deserves. However, he was lucky that he escaped." He heaved a sigh regretfully. The crowd started to wonder if Frank Carter did run away as they listened and watched Spencer.
Daniel Brown, who had been watching quietly, suddenly retorted angrily, "There's justice in society. You are not to decide who deserves what!"
Spencer looked at him coldly, narrowed his eyes, and questioned, "Are you defending Frank Carter? Why? Have you also committed a crime like he did, murdering your wife and trying to kill your own daughter?"
Terrified, Daniel stared at Spencer with his mouth wide open. "Nonsense! I only mean that people make mistakes sometimes, and the law says what punishment they get, not you, not us." He justified himself.
"Mistakes? Do you call that a mistake, murdering your own family for your own benefits?!" Spencer snapped. "Some people are heartless. They care about no one, including their family, close relatives, but themselves."
Emma looked up at Spencer instantly. Is he referring to me? "Spencer, I, I..." she intended to justify herself.

It was then when Nathalia remembered that The Shining Corporation was the one that was mentioned in Ben's proposal. No wonder it sounds familiar! That's interesting. It looks like there's a story behind it. Nathalia thought.
"Mr. Daniel Brown, how do you explain your reaction just now? Why are you defending her? What's between you two? Do you know each other?" Nathalia questioned.
Daniel was shocked. His face showed worries. "What? No! I don't know her at all." he said instantly. "Well, I didn't see it clearly. I was judging by your attitude. I mean, I assumed that..."
"You assumed?!" Nathalia cut him short. "You know what? I assume that you are cunning, deceitful, and evil. You don't know me, but you accused and insulted me. I hope I will never see your horrible face again!"
She said it quickly without pause. Frank's face went pale. "I, I..." he stammered.
Nathalia looked at him into his eyes and demanded, "You, you are scared! Why? Because what I said is right." Huh! How dare you accuse me?!
"My clever Nathalia, I will get my lawyer to send him a letter," Spencer added cooperatively.
Daniel was now really worried. "You two, err, I... I'm sorry, I should not have assumed, but I didn't mean any harm, please..." he pleaded.
Nathalia paid him no attention, but turned to Emma, "By the way, Ms. Fashion, why do you stay single?"
"It's none of your business!" Emma snapped. She wondered what Nathalia was implying. She had learned to be cautious.
"Well, you have tried very hard to set up Spencer and me. I believe there's a story behind your intention." Nathalia said calmly.
Nathalia smiled and waited for the message to sink in. Emma shivered slightly. She looked worried.
"What is it?" Spencer asked curiously.
The crowd was all ears. She must be after something. Why is she setting up her own nephew? There must be a story behind it, and it's a big one! They thought.
Nathalia glanced around, smiled at Spencer, and said casually yet confidently, "Our Ms. Fashion is crazily in love with your father!"
"What?!" The crowd gasped.
Even Curt, who rarely showed his emotions, appeared shocked.
