The Rise Of Nathalia Carter Chapter 345

"No. Not at all. I guess we have misunderstood. But, err, I thought that Mr. Spencer Davidson and Mr. Matt Davidson don't get along very well, and I wonder why..."
Though Matt was used to being questioned by the annoyingly persistent paparazzi, he was getting impatient with them, and he snapped, "That's none of your business! Don't I have the right to help a friend? Huh?"
He sounded annoyed, and it was easy to tell.
To others, it seemed like he had gained a lot of possessions, but there was very little that he actually wanted. He felt like he was never given the right to choose what he wanted to choose the way to live his life.
Nathalia started to get a bit annoyed by the journalists who would always make things out of nothing. She said with a smile, yet sounding a bit irritated, "Brothers are brothers. Matt just came to offer help. What's wrong with that?"
The journalists sensed that Nathalia wasn't very pleased with them, and all agreed and nodded their heads sheepishly. "Nothing. Nothing wrong at all."
"What's going on here?" A clear voice came from the door. Everyone turned to see Spencer standing there, leaning at the door, looking displeased.
No. I was hoping Spencer would arrive later. Nathalia thought.
The journalists quickly moved to the sides to allow Spencer to come in. "How are you, Mr. Spencer Davidson?" They greeted him courteously.
"Your brother Mr. Matt Davidson is here too. Are you two really on good terms now?" One took the chance to ask the question, hoping to clear their doubts.
Spencer waved at Nathalia, whose heart was racing nervously at the moment. She quickly went to him with a cheeky and apologetic smile. It was accidental. I didn't want this to happen. She thought. Spencer couldn't get angry with her and couldn't help feeling a bit annoyed at the same time.

Seeing her smile, he understood and rolled his eyes at her. "Come, Nathalia, let's go for dinner."
Nathalia heaved a sigh and grabbed Spencer's arm. "Perfect timing, I'm starving!" she said with a grin.
Spencer led Nathalia away without even taking a look at anyone else. "What do you fancy?" He asked gently.
"Hmm. I was thinking of Thai! What do you think?" Nathalia tilted her head and looked at Spencer affectionately.
"Thai? Perhaps." Spencer teased.
"Perhaps? I think, definitely!" Nathalia pleaded and pouted her lips. Seeing her cheeky face, Matt patted her head softly and compromised, "Alright. Thai, it is then!"
Sophie was following behind them, feeling happy for Nathalia and a bit envious seeing how in love they were. But when she turned around to see the quiet and upset look on Matt's face, her heart sank.
"Nathalia, I think I will go home now. Mum's making dinner tonight." Sophie said quietly. She understood that Spencer didn't like her very much, and she didn't want to feel awkward.
Before Nathalia replied, Spencer suggested immediately, "Cool. I will get our driver to take you home."
The journalists dared not follow them but watched from a distance. They had learned well not to annoy Spencer if they wanted to keep their job.
Sophie shook her head and rejected instantly, "Oh. It's ok. I will take a taxi, but thanks." Somehow she always felt pressured being around Spencer and wondered why Nathalia never felt that.
However, Nathalia insisted, worried that another kidnap would happen again. Matt said quietly, "Don't worry. I will drive her home."He had appeared emotionless and silent since Spencer showed up.
Nathalia thought it over and said, "Cool. Please make sure she gets home safe."
"Will do," Matt said and led Sophie away.

Nathalia waved goodbye and watched them leave. She heaved a sigh. When she turned around to look at Spencer, Spencer was obviously angry. Nathalia responded with a grin and explained apologetically, "Honey, you know I didn't invite him, right? He just showed up."
Seeing her cheeky face, Spencer gave up and patted her head gently, "Alright. So we will have Thai for dinner."
"Yes!" Nathalia nodded with excitement.
As they walked to the car, hand in hand, chatting happily. Someone came running to Nathalia, shouting, "Nathalia! Nathalia!"
It was a young kid, tall and slim, looking pale and anxious. He looked at Nathalia nervously.
Instantly, Spencer pulled Nathalia behind him protectively, then he recognized the young face and frowned. It was Zack Carter, the son of Frank Carter.
Since the scandal, Zack Carter couldn't stay in the States and had been sent to Europe to study. No one really knew or cared to know much about him since then.
Nathalia lifted her eyebrows. Huh! When did he return?! The image of Frank's face popped up in her head, and consciously, she looked around as if she could feel Frank Carter hidden somewhere watching.
She noticed that the few journalists were still standing in the distance, watching them.
In an old T-shirt and jeans, Zack looked rather lost and pitiful. The savage and angry look he used to wear was gone. "Nathalia, I'm homeless. You are my only family left. Please don't leave me alone. You will take care of me, won't you?"
Imagine Zack Carter, who used to wear only expensive clothes, who was adored by his parents, who could have whatever he wanted, had now turned into an average young kid. He had lost the arrogance that money gave him.
Nathalia stepped forward from behind Spencer and replied with a smile. "Take care of yourself? Wow, what a responsibility! I'm too humble to take that." Everyone knows you are pretending. You were born a devil. I'd better stay away from you.
Zack started sobbing, looking terribly upset. "Nathalia, my sister. I know I've made awful mistakes. I shouldn't have ever hit you. But I have learned. I have changed. I promise I will never make the same mistake again. Please, please take me home."
Being reminded of how Zack used to beat Nathalia, Spencer suddenly looked furious. He glared at Zack.
Nathalia sneered and said indifferently, "Take you home? Where's your home? The Carters' house is gone."
The house had been sold to pay off debts. A new family had moved in. Nathalia had never been to even take a look at it once, neither did she want to. It was not her home. It had never been.
