The Rise Of Nathalia Carter Chapter 404

Sue had gradually recovered her memories while traveling. She had had times of breaking down when she recalled the betrayal of Curt and later the loss of Spencer; however, Curt had stayed with her all the time, taken care of her, and shown her love. They said love could cure everything. It was true. She prayed every day for the return of her son and was grateful that she had finally gained her husband's love.
Just a month before the babies were born, when Nathalia learned that her mother-in-law had accepted the past and let it go and forgiven her, she felt such immense relief. She saw hope again.
The arrival of the babies brought a lot of comfort and joy to the family. Curt and Sue adored and spoiled their grandchildren the best they could. Though they didn't talk about Spencer often, they thought of him every day.
Nathalia had kept her promise to herself and talked to the twins about their father every day. She told them how their parents met, how smart and charming their father was and that he had gone on a long journey but would return home to see them one day.
Over dinner with Lisa and Sophie, Nathalia briefly updated them about her life in Greece. "It's been peaceful, and Louis and Bella love it there."
"Have you moved back to Miami then? Or are you settled in Greece?" Sophie asked.
"We are here for a short visit," Nathalia replied. "The babies are with their grandparents at home. You should meet them. Come visit this weekend." She added with a smile, looking at both Sophie and Lisa.
"I'd love to meet them! They must be adorable!" Lisa said happily, then she turned to Sophie and asked uncertainly, "Sophie, are you free this Saturday?"

The smile on Sophie's face disappeared, and she replied coldly, "Yeah, I think so." She still hadn't forgiven her mother for forcing her to leave Matt.
Sophie studied art and design for three years in Milan and traveled around Europe for about half a year, but she hadn't heard anything from Nathalia and had no idea that she was in Greece. She came back to Miami about a few months ago when she got the offer at Look Up.
Seeing how distant Sophie was to her mother, Nathalia knitted her brows and teased, "So, you are now a designer! Who's the lucky man dating our beautiful designer?"
Sophie blushed and said, "What do you mean? I'm single. The lucky man hasn't shown up yet."
"Are you still in touch with Matt?" Nathalia asked.
Sophie seemed a bit startled. She hesitated and said, "No, but I've heard that he's doing well and managing the Davidson Group successfully."
"Hmm. I see." Nathalia nodded.
Just then, a young man came over. "Sophie, how nice to see you here!" He exclaimed happily. He was in his late twenties, smartly dressed, good-looking, and seemed to be easy-going.
"Hey, Martin. Nice to see you, too." Sophie replied with a bashful smile. "This is my manager, Martin. Martin, this is my best friend, Nathalia and..." Sophie looked at her mother, and a bit reluctantly, she went on, "This is my mother, Lisa."
On hearing so, Martin's face lit up, and he quickly extended his hand towards Lisa for a handshake and said politely, "It's a pleasure to meet you, Lisa." Lisa shook his hand while wondering, hmm, am I being oversensitive? Or there's something going on between these two? She wished Sophie had been more open like she used to and would talk to her about everything.

"And very nice to meet you, Nathalia." Martin shook Nathalia's hand. He thought Nathalia looked familiar but didn't think much about it.
"Do you mind if I join you?" Martin asked.
Before Sophie answered, Nathalia said quickly, "Of course not." She could sense that Martin and Sophie liked each other.
Martin responded with a grateful smile and sat down next to Sophie. Both Lisa and Nathalia noticed the bashfulness on Sophie's cheeks.
"Nathalia!" A familiar voice called out in surprise.
Everyone turned to look, and Sophie exclaimed instantly, "Matt!" Her face lit up, and her eyes shone at the sight of him. It had been four years, and her heart still raced for him. We could have been lovers...She thought.
Lisa's heart sank, and there was fear in her eyes. Is this fate or a joke?
Martin was excited to see Matt. Wow! It's Matt Davidson! What an honor to see him! As expected, Matt had become the man whom everyone wanted to know and befriend. He had managed the Davidson Group successfully, and everyone admired him.
He behaved very gentlemanly in public, yet at the same time, he was rather distant, and there was hardly any gossip about him.
Martin stood up and introduced himself, courteously, "What an honor to see you here, Mr. Matt Davidson!"
Matt shook his hand while looking at him with doubts. "Hi, have we met before?"
"I'm Martin, the manager of Look Up."
Lisa added quickly, "and Sophie's boyfriend."
Surprised, Martin smiled at Lisa gratefully.
"Mum! What are you talking about? We haven't..." Sophie defended immediately. However, Matt seemed relieved to hear so. Completely ignoring Sophie's defense, he said cheerfully, "Ah, I see. You are Sophie's boyfriend. You two definitely make a perfect couple."
"No, Matt, Martin, and I are..." She wanted to explain, but Matt interrupted intentionally, "Sophie, I'm glad you have a boyfriend." He smiled, then turned to look at Nathalia. Nathalia is back! Four years! I haven't seen her for four years!
Before Matt spoke, Nathalia said casually, "Hey, Matt. Long time no see. What a coincidence!"
"How have you been? Why have you not contacted me?" He couldn't hide it. His affection for her was too strong for him to control. Even Martin could tell. That's why he has never dated any woman.
"I've been good. I haven't simply because I don't feel like contacting anyone." She replied indifferently.
"Well, nice to see you, Matt, but will you please excuse us?" Lisa said, rather abruptly. It was obvious that she didn't welcome his presence. Nathalia wondered why. Lisa despises him.

The Cosmic Interloper
Synopsis: A cyborg transhuman escapes her corporate indenture and through unfathomably unlikely circumstances, she ends up in a fantasy world of full of unique magic, angry people with sharp implements, and the whole flavor-spectrum of divine entities. Hilarity ensues. Features: - No blue boxes or cultivation, this is not a LitRPG nor about martial arts - Hard-ish Sci-Fi meets hard-ish magic - Generally trying to keep this "rational" Rationale: My primary goal with The Cosmic Interloper is to write something that I myself would enjoy reading. Of course, that’s not the only motivation, but I think it’s the most important one for me to keep in mind, especially as the author. In fact, this whole story came about because after consuming oodles of fiction, I found myself craving a very specific type of story which I couldn’t find many examples of. Then I asked myself, “why not write it myself?” and here we are. Disclaimer: In general, while I’m not writing a comedy, I do intend for this story to be funny and a bit wacky or absurd. That said though, I am using this story as a vehicle to explore some potentially dark topics including (but not limited to) slavery, speciesism/racism, and existential questions of self, consciousness, and identity. Still, I’m going to leave the “traumatizing content” tags off, because I don’t feel that what I’ve written so far (or plan on writing) exceeds the threshold that would be necessary for me to tag it thusly. Also, [insert your favorite boilerplate “views expressed” disclaimer here]. I shouldn’t need to say this, but the main character can be wrong on occasion (gasp!) and the way she views the world is not the objective truth (if such a thing even exists).
