Spending My Retirement In A Game Chapter 523

The next morning, Eisen quickly made his way outside as Sigurd appeared in front of him and handed him a piece of paper.
"Morning! This is the specs you asked the Guard Captain for yesterday." The Core Guardian explained, before Eisen slowly looked the sheet over, "Morning, and thanks. Then I'll get right to work." Eisen said before he stepped out the gate in front of him into the morning sun. The specifications for this weren't really all that special. It seemed like Eisen just had to cut the section that he was going to prepare for these guys up into nine 'strips', and then cut those strips into three parts. That was something that Eisen could do pretty easily, he was quite sure.
Eisen looked around and then made his way to the large log. He first tried to use his Crafter's Mind skill to properly 'measure' how much volume all the wood in total actually had, and then stepped along the log itself to try and find the right spot to cut it up. And when he did, Eisen simply increased his size to the maximum again while activating his draconic demon transformation and pushing that transformation onto his multitool as well.
The old man started hacking into the wood to once more just start making something like a 'guideline' so that he could create a straight cut. And from then on, all that Eisen really did was hack into the log as much as he could. He obviously couldn't reach the center completely like this, considering the sheer size of this log, but at the very least he was able to prepare a good base to be able to cut it up further using some other means.
And since Eisen was able to dig away at the ground underneath the log, he could pretty easily reach it from any direction that he needed to. The only problem really was just the reach. And to solve that, Eisen had Sigurd give him some mana-crystals that merged together and pushed into the cut that he just created in the log. It took a lot, but since Eisen could simply decompress the crystals a fair amount, he didn't have an issue really filling every nook and cranny in.
But what followed then was the slightly annoying part. What he did was just so slightly compress the mana-crystal again in its thickness, so that it could rotate around the tree's center pretty easily. And then, Eisen started to create a 3D enchantment inside of this round mana-crystal slab, simply turning the slab itself so that he didn't have to walk around all the sides. This actually made it pretty easy.

Either way, the enchantment that Eisen placed onto this crystal was pretty easy. For one, Eisen enchanted the whole thing with the woodcutting and woodworking abilities, and then made it push out something like a blade of mana in its center that would keep pushing into the wood continuosly.
It took a while to really complete it, which was to be expected considering the size that it required like this, but when it was done, Eisen just started pushing his mana inside while continuosly making the mana-crystal slab, or 'wheel', twist around the tree's center.
It would end up taking a fair while, which was why Eisen wanted to first use the axe to cut into the log as much as he could, but soon enough, Eisen could hear some cracks in the center of the wood.
Since he removed a couple meters underneath the whole section of the log that Eisen wanted to remove, the raw weight of it helped out with getting it to snap in half. That didn't necessarily make it a clean, perfect cut, but Eisen could just clean it up a little bit afterward.
Soon, the now relatively thin part that connected the two sections of the log just snapped and the section that he would prepare for the guards to take with them dropped down onto the ground. Eisen lightly smiled when he saw that this method really worked.
For now, Eisen chose to get started with pre-sectioning the log a bit. In general, that only consisted of hacking the guidelines into the log again so that he could relatively easily hack it up into the nine strips first. Although, there were a couple of meters on one side that Eisen didn't pre-section, since he wouldn't be cutting into them. This was just so that Eisen could keep the strips in place and properly connected while he cut all the strips up into three more pieces, to make his job easier.
This was usually just a technique that you used when trying to dice up things like vegetables or fruit, but Eisen figured there was no reason not to make use of it right here. That would just make it easier to make sure the pieces were in one inform length all the way.
After Eisen did all this, he simply started hacking into the log a little bit already. He figured he could cut the guidelines a little bit deeper for now.
The next day, Eisen continued, and hoped that he would at the very least be able to cut up the first section into the pieces that he needed. Since the whole thing was supposed to be cut up into nine 'strips', Eisen didn't actually need to cut all the way through the center. He basically just needed to always cut into the guideline deep enough until it reached the intersection of it and the next guideline.

Eisen was pretty glad about that, really. The crystal-wheel didn't really give him any proficiency after all. Maybe a few percent, but in general it was pretty much a waste.
And for the whole day... this was it. That was all that Eisen was doing for that day and the next two days afterward. Hacking into this wood along the guidelines for the 'strips', even though those 'strips' were still many times thicker than any regular tree could get.
Finally, Eisen could just get started on cutting it up into the three sub-sections. This was the easy part really. Eisen swung his axe and hacked into the wood as deeply as he could. Over the past few days, it seemed like his multitool's axe-mode had grown slightly accustomed to this special Ironbark wood, since it was cutting through it far easier. Well, that, or maybe because the woodcutting skill's level rose from the bottom of rank 3 to its top. He was only a couple of levels away now from ranking it up, after all.
The old man kept cutting through the wood until the first sectioned strip was done. Like this, Eisen could just easily take it away from there, place it down in the spot where the Guards said they wanted to have it, and then he could more easily reach the other parts of the wood deeper down.
And then, piece after piece, Eisen just cut down the log into the sectioned strips that he properly stacked up on top of each other, while having Sal bind them together using his threads to make sure that they couldn't somehow fall over and injure someone on accident.
Just a couple of hours later, this part of the log became less by a third. Then, Eisen repeated it for the next section as well and properly placed the nine strips down nearby. And when evening came around, all that Eisen had to do was properly cut up the part of the last section that was still completely connected.
The old man walked around the back and just started hacking into the flat side. It was just a couple of meters thick, so it wasn't all that hard for Eisen to get this part done, since he was able to just hack away at this flat surface and was able to make the rest of the sectioned-strips drop down one after another.
By the time the sun actually fully went down, Eisen managed to finish this part of the job and prepared everything properly. It seemed like the Guards were still incredibly impressed at the speed that eisen was able to do this, despite them practically just sitting around drinking and eating inside of the dungeon over the past few days, continuosly giving Eisen and Sigurd more and more DP to make use of.
That was the main reason to make the first floor this hospitable, after all. Eisen made sure to bring all of the sectioned strips of wood over toward a place where the Guards could more easily start delivering all the wood to the nearest town where they could start processing it into other parts and pieces of different shapes and sizes.
And once that was done, Eisen finally got started on something else. He was able to properly prepare everything for his own, personal work. The project that he was planning on was a bit overwhelming, but he was sure that it would be the perfect thing to do, especially considering the plan of heading to the country of Giants soon. After all, while Eisen was gigantic already, it did seem like there were monsters that were literally mountainous. So, you needed something that could face it to make up the difference in size more easily.
Since Eisen got his hands onto a giant log, that was coincidentally one of the strongest types of naturally existing wood there were, the old man should be able to create the perfect wood-giant to help them out. Eisen would probably end up giving him something like metallic weapons, or add harder materials onto a few certain parts of its body, but for the most part, Eisen would be making it using this wood. Using the time he had outside of this world while his body here was resting, Eisen was speaking to Evalia to speak about some designs for this that were both functional and actually good-looking.
Somehow, they ended up with something like a giant samurai that had the bark act as something like natural armor. Eisen did really like this design though, and he was pretty sure he could properly get this done sometime soon. It would take a long time, but it was a pretty nice project that Eisen could place a lot of functionality into. He wanted to finish the requirements for all of his crafting skills using this project, after all.

Epoch: An NPC's Tale
Epoch is a slow-burn LitRPG/Gamelit novel that tells the story of Luke, later named Lucius—a natural inhabitant of the game-like realm of Elyssia where thousands upon thousands of detached, virtually unkillable entities known as the Players were suddenly introduced right after the dusk of the magnificent Age of Heroes. Shortly after the Players arrived, the balance of power in Elyssia instantly shifted. Kingdoms fell, wars were waged, alliances between races were made, and Lucius, after ten years of training in captivity, found himself being used as a pawn in a prophecy that he had no intention to fulfill. With aspirations and desires of his own, Lucius must find a way to cautiously adapt to the drastic changes in the very foundations of the realm after being sent 300 years into a future that was forever altered by the outcome of the war that his captors had lost and the Players won in a victory that resounded throughout the ages, all for a terrible price. Author's Note As an avid fan of the LitRPG genre myself, I wrote this novel with character progression, heavy Gamelit elements, and some degree of world-building in mind. If you like these, please feel free to give this novel a try. Oh, and the MC is also an NPC, in a sense. And wait, isn't this also an isekai story? Well, it's all a bit complicated to explain here. Maybe you should start reading now?
