Chapter 418: Xia Fei’s Counterattack
“Halleh!” Duabi frowned as he shouted this name. Xia Fei was startled. Halleh was the third-ranking expert on the Sacred Warrior Leaderboard. He had not expected for this warrior to be involved at this stage.
This lean, old man had the darkness ability and was an enemy whom Xia Fei was not willing to fight. He did not know whether his sudden appearance was a blessing or a curse.
Halleh was wearing a black suit of armor, and he needed a whole half an hour to walk over from the other side of the mountain. In this period of time, no one made a move. Apparently, all of them were thinking about a way out of this messy situation.
However, clearing up the context of the situation was somewhat difficult. It was obvious that Xia Fei was one party and Duabi’s group of four was the second party. The two parties were opponents, while no one knew the goal of their third party, Halleh.
Duabi and Laresh bowed to Halleh from a distance, but Yadan and Mingjing did not react. Their attention was more on Xia Fei.
“Master Halleh, was it you who cut off our connection with base?” Duabi cautiously asked.
Halleh raised an eyebrow and loudly admitted, “Yes, it was me.”
While this lean old insectoid was not very tall, his voice was like a resounding bell, so loud that it hurt the ears.
Duabi was struck dumb. In a strange tone, he asked, “Sir, what is the meaning of this? We are here on orders of the Golden Tent to capture this human warrior who has invaded our land. Even High Priest Ryun has sent his personal disciple to assist us.”
As expected of an insectoid who mingled with government figures, Duabi managed to mention the names of two hugely influential characters without batting an eyelid: Uti and Ryun. While he had the intent of intimidating Halleh, in the end, it was mostly because of his lack of confidence acting up. Duabi understood that the four of them were not enough to deal with a darkness ability user of Halleh’s level, so he had no other choice but to use the name of mightier ones and hopefully frighten Halleh off enough that he would decide against causing them too much trouble.
Alas, Halleh simply smiled. Ignoring Duabi, he said to Xia Fei, “Human, what’s your name?”
“Xia Fei.” Xia Fei’s answer was very relaxed. The situation was extremely unfavorable to him, but this actually made him more carefree. He had no confidence in his ability to kill five foes with one strike, but he could at least instantly kill two or three with one desperate effort.
Halleh nodded. “Were you the one who killed Hezar?”
“Yes.”
“You also killed Mengen, Hami, Kerosi, and Buma?”
“Yes.”
“And you’re aware that this lot wants to kill you?”
“I know.”
“Do you plan to submit yourself and be captured?”
“If they want to capture me, they have to prove that they can. Escape is not possible, but trading one life for two is doable. If I Get lucky, I may even be able to kill three.”

Halleh laughed as if no one was around, seemingly very satisfied by Xia Fei’s replies.
“Human, I like your personality! You currently have a chance at life before you. If you are willing to work with me, I can guarantee that you will be able to leave this place alive. None of these insectoids will be able to harm a strand of hair on your head.”
Duabi, Laresh, and even Yadan, who normally kept his emotions off his face, all paled!
Only Mingjing remained dull and unfocused. She was curious about this fellow member of her race. As for questions of life and death, she had never cared about the answer. In any case, she had always lived as if she were dead.
“Master Halleh, what do you mean by this?!” Duabi clenched his teeth and asked.
Halleh glanced at him in contempt, snapping, “You don’t have the right to speak here! Shut your mouth!”
Xia Fei’s mind turned, and his lips curled upward. He casually took out a cigarette, lit it, and placed it in his mouth. To his surprise, the most unfavorable party here was not him but rather Duabi’s group.
“Master Halleh, I don’t know why you have come to find me, but I sense that you have some business. Since it’s business, we have to talk about it some before I can answer you. Why not clean up these irrelevant fellows first, take care of the psychic chain on my body, and then we can talk?” Xia Fei smiled and said.
Duabi paled, but Halleh found these words rather amusing. He sternly asked, “Human, why are you so sure that I will help you kill these insectoids?”
Xia Fei replied, “I can’t say whether I’m your enemy or not, but they definitely are. It’s not like you can let them go back and report you, can you, sir? So no matter what, they have to die.”
Xia Fei’s conjecture was very simple. Duabi’s side and Halleh’s side had their own objectives. Duabi wanted Xia Fei to die, while Halleh did not. Otherwise, he would not have chosen to step out at this crucial moment.
Xia Fei had not done anything after discovering the psychic chain in his body precisely because he hoped for his enemies to get close so that he could take them down with him. After all, the closer they were to him, the greater the chance for Xia Fei’s Crafty Approach to instantly kill them. Thus, he had patiently waited.
Now that his enemies had an enemy, however, Xia Fei had no reason not to try and pull them apart. Even if he could not escape, he could at least watch a scene of “dog-eat-dog” before he died.
Duabi and Laresh both reacted to Xia Fei’s words, exchanging furtive glances. They had two enemies before them. One was the incomparably powerful Halleh, and the other was the suicidal Xia Fei. It was clear that the former was the greater threat.
Meanwhile, Mingjing and Yadan did not seem to have much of a reaction. This left Duabi and Laresh both rather hesitant.

Xia Fei’s trick had stirred up the fighting intent of both parties, but to his surprise, Halleh’s next words stomped the fire out.
“While this is true, there’s no need to kill these insectoids, for I offer them the same conditions. If they agree to my demands, they can also survive,” Halleh said.
Duabi and the others were nervous. Halleh’s appearance and objective were both very strange. None of them could guess on why the number three expert of the insectoid race had appeared here.
Halleh coldly swept his gaze over Duabi’s group. “You may not know this, but in truth, you are nothing but pawns on Uti’s board, able to be abandoned at any time. Plus, he’s planted one of his men among you, who is ready to kill you at any time.”
*Whoosh!*
Duabi and Laresh immediately turned to Yadan. This insectoid’s behavior had been strange from the very start. If there was a traitor among them, he was the most likely candidate! Halleh, as a revered master expert of the insectoid race, had no reason to lie to them.
Yadan shrugged, neither confirming nor denying the suspicions of Duabi and Laresh.
“Did you receive secret orders from Uti? What order did he give you?!” Laresh yelled as if someone had stomped on his tail.
This was how warriors were. They could sell their lives, but they could not permit the existence of someone whom they did not trust. Such a thing could deal immense damage and vigorously stimulate a warrior’s intense sense of dignity.
Yadan pursed his lips and casually spoke. “You’re the talkative ones here, so believe what you want.”
This arrogant attitude provoked Laresh. His hand began to radiate a chill and his only arm instantly seemed to be covered in ice.
Halleh intentionally coughed twice, and Laresh realized that he was still under the control of this old insectoid, so he reluctantly withdrew his freezing ability.
“Don’t get excited. I only said that one of Uti’s spies is among you, but not who,” Halleh sternly said.
Laresh venomously asked, “Who else could it be besides Yadan, this eccentric scoundrel!”
Yadan did nothing, a helpless smile on his face.
Halleh gave Laresh a profound glance, his eyes so sharp that it made Laresh’s heart shiver in fear.
“Let me speak clearly: Someone doesn’t wish to see Uti continue presiding over the Golden Tent, wanting to pull him down from the throne. All of you have been abandoned by Uti, so either stand on my side and betray him or be sent on your way by me.”
Everyone was aghast. This was treason, yet Halleh had spoken about it so casually!
However, after looking at their signalless communication devices, they understood. Halleh was a darkness ability user, and now that they had fallen into his trap, he was completely capable of killing all of them without leaving a shred of evidence. This was why he could speak so freely.
In the middle of this abnormally nervous moment, something unexpected happened.
Mingjing was standing less than two meters away from Xia Fei. She had begun to approach Xia Fei curiously some time ago, her eyes fixed on him, and Xia Fei intentionally did not look at her directly, privately wondering what this somewhat silly-looking girl was thinking.
Suddenly, Mingjing reached out and stroked Xia Fei’s face, but the moment her fingertips touched his face, she drew them back as if she had been shocked by electricity, her face blushing.
This small movement made Xia Fei break out in a cold sweat, and he had to restrain himself mightily to prevent himself from killing her right there. His muscles were taut, on the verge of exploding with power.
This flirtatious and abrupt movement also stimulated the owner of that psychic chain wrapped around Xia Fei’s heart. The chain twitched once or twice, causing so much pain for Xia Fei that his complexion turned ashen.
“We can be sure that it’s not this girl,” Phantom quietly said.
Xia Fei nodded. Mingjing’s actions were not in sync with the psychic chain, so she could be ruled out as its owner. In other words, the one who had used this attack on him was one of the remaining three.
Halleh was speechless. He truly could not understand what was going on inside Mingjing’s head. Her enemy was so close to her, but she had no vigilance whatsoever. She was completely focused on observing Xia Fei’s movements and even performed such a flirtatious action. Was there truly something wrong with her head?
“I don’t have the time to haggle with you lot. If you accept my proposal, I will immediately point out Uti’s man, but if you don’t accept, I’ll just kill all of you. Even in death, you will not know why you were abandoned and who is the spy,” Halleh coldly said.
Duabi was the first to nod. A question of life and death was not a difficult one to answer. Anyone with some intelligence would not rush down the path to death. In the face of the immensely powerful Halleh, Duabi did not feel too much hesitation.
Following him was Yadan. He continued to have that uncaring expression. The most loyal of them, Laresh, went through an intense mental struggle before finally nodding.
Halleh heartily laughed. “Then, it’s settled. Such a simple problem. A nod of the head is all that’s needed to pull yourself back from the brink.”
However, at this moment, the silent Xia Fei struck!
There was no warning at all. When everyone was confused on why Mingjing had stroked Xia Fei’s face, confused on Halleh’s true goal, confused on who Uti’s spy was, they simply had too much on their minds to pay attention to Xia Fei.
Xia Fei naturally would not miss such a chance to counterattack. He had restrained himself for more than an hour, waiting and watching, and now, he had finally chosen this chance, which was not really a chance, to explode!
