Chapter 597: Angry Arhat

“Law of Matter, Triple Fortress!”

The terrain changed. The soil below his feet solidified into circles, trapping Xia Fei in the center!

*Whoosh whoosh*

Four individuals darted away as that red-faced man asked solemnly, “Trapped?”

Qin Bao’er nodded happily. “Are you kidding me? We of the Qin family are well known as experts in detection and capture. This Triple Fortress is as hard as steel. An average person will hardly be able to break it.”

Qin Bao’er was not particularly good-looking, but her pair of sly eyes, with her defined eyebrows that arched high, was really enticing. This was even more so with the smug look on her face.

*Kaboom*

Two azure leaf blades suddenly shattered the concrete defense, and like two bolts of lightning, they instantly seized Qin Bao’er, one wrapping itself around her neck while the other around her body!

Qin Bao’er’s face turned pale, her two eyes opening wide in her bewilderment. Her pink tongue lolled out, looking like she had just been hung, the smug expression she had gone forever.

How could a mere technique like the Law of Matter’s Earthen Fortress even hold back the Immemorial Mystic Armament Peacock Blue? It was the universe’s most resilient weed! Even if a boulder was on top of it, Peacock Blue would find a way to penetrate through it and live!

*Shing*

The Blood Crystal broke past the concrete and stepped right into Qin Bao’er’s chest. All this had occurred so abruptly that no one in her team could react in time. The young woman Qin Bao’er soon turned into a dessicated corpse, all traces of life rapidly fading away. In just a second, Qun Bao’er turned from twenty years old to two hundred! Her face was covered with wrinkles, looking like a tree bark in autumn.

“Bao’er!” the man with the metal nose sleeve exclaimed. He could not breathe through his nose, so his voice sounded very strange!

*Kaboom!*

The other three hurriedly unleashed their laws to attack Peacock Blue once they could react. Thick smoke rose as that concrete wall collapsed!

Everyone quickly tried to get out of the way. The Triple Fortress had been destroyed from the insides by Xia Fei, and fragmented rocks flew across the air. The three men instinctively retreated as fast as they could and inadvertently got separated from one another.

“Falling Palm of Autumn’s Demise!”

Xia Fei used the chaos he created to dash right out, thrusting out a palm right onto the fatty, who was the weakest among the three!

This open palm of emptiness gently connected with the fatty’s body.

*Cough*

The next moment, that fatty could be seen kneeling. It was as if someone had directed a concentrated laser bombardment upon his chest, a bloody and very see-through hole blossoming on it!

Blood Crystal was stabbing the head of that fatty, splitting his scalp into two as it greedily drained the person of his blood essence! It was a very gruesome and savage sight!

Due to the fact that there were more enemies he needed to face, Xia Fei did not let Blood Crystal finish its meal and, instead, withdrew it from the corpse once he confirmed the kill.

Out of the four, Qin Bao’er with her Law of Detection had already died. This meant that the humongous forest, which seemed to loom endlessly, had become the perfect place for Xia Fei to hide himself once again. With his speed ability and his Breath Control, Xia Fei was no longer afraid of being surrounded by these enemies.

The slightest change in his predicament, and Xia Fei exterminated two enemies in a single stroke, turning the four-versus-one fight into a two-versus-one.

The red-faced man and the man with the metal nose sleeve had their backs braced against each other, adopting a defensive formation. Neither dared to let his guard down in the slightest; the man with the metal nose sleeve was frustrated. It seemed like he had had some relationship with Qin Bao’er, for his expression was that of great anguish.

“The red-faced guy is a Law of Space Adept, a high-level Law Sovereign. We still don’t have much information about the other guy, but he should be pretty strong, too, or else the group wouldn’t let him be their vanguard,” Phantom said.

Xia Fei nodded. He was hiding a good distance away like a cicada hibernating on a tree, not making any movement or sound.

“Bao’er! My dear Bao’er!” The man with the metal nose sleeve let out a hoarse wail.

“Pull yourself together! Did you see who that was just now?” the red-faced man asked with knitted eyebrows.

“No. Everything happened too suddenly, and the dust hasn’t settled yet.”

Grinding their teeth, the two still had no idea who had managed to kill their fellow companions. Just this thought alone vexed them greatly.

Xia Fei was still stationary, maintaining his battle stance. The moment an opportunity presented itself, he would not hesitate to act. However, these two men were now in a state of heightened vigilance, and it was no longer easy for him to make an abrupt strike and kill like before.

Licking his lips, Xia Fei thought back to the wondrous execution he had just displayed. He felt that he was now becoming more and more bloodthirsty. The joy he got from killing an enemy and absorbing their energy was indescribable. Perhaps if he managed to kill all four here, he might even improve once more.

All of a sudden, a cold and baleful wind came cutting across the forest, so chilling that it made him go numb all over. The windforce itself was so great that even these trees towering over hundreds of meters swayed.

“This is bad! It’s Xu Bien! He’s caught up to us!” The expression on that red-faced man changed drastically, the fear in his eyes even greater than what he showed when Xia Fei struck as if this coming threat, that Xu Bien person, was even more frightening than Xia Fei.

Without another word exchanged, the red-faced man and the man with the metal nose sleeve fled in different directions, their faces even appearing as pale as blank sheets of paper!

This was when something strange occurred!

*Crunch*

A spike suddenly erupted from the flat ground!

Without any signs or sound, sharp metal spikes grew from the ground one after another!

This was indubitably what a high-level Law of Matter Adept could execute. It would usually take some time before matter could be transmuted and there would usually be some sound made during the process.

Only a bonafide expert could accomplish such a complex law transmutation so abruptly!

It was deadly accurate!

Several hundred spikes, which were almost ten meters tall, appeared along the route these two had been escaping on, perfectly timed in such a way that further highlighted the fine control this interloper had when it came to combat opportunities!

This got Xia Fei breaking into a cold sweat while he remained hidden among the trees. The Law of Matter was a common law used by people in the circle and was hardly anything rare, but it was unusual for anyone to have such precise and deft control over it, like what the person had just demonstrated. This person’s attack style was both swift and strange, similar to Xia Fei’s Crafty Approach, though different in execution.

Xia Fei even suspected that the baleful wind from before had been intentional, in order to instill fear into the two men’s hearts and make them flee, while the route of their escape had already been sealed!

“The hardest application of law lies in making it silent and without any trace. This person’s very intriguing,” Lionheart Emperor Oro rumbled.

Back to the action amid the trees, that young man with the metal nose sleeve had already been perforated by the sudden appearance of spikes and died instantaneously. Meanwhile, though the red-faced man had relied on his instantaneous movement technique to evade the attack, his left leg still got pierced by a spike, leaving behind a large hole as fresh blood flowed freely.

This red-faced man used the Law of Space to seal this wound and prevented continued blood loss. Gritting his teeth, he turned to face behind him. He looked very much the picture of someone who had made his decision to see this to the end.

The sound of rustling could be heard, and then a masked warrior appeared as suddenly as a venomous snake. It walked in a strange manner, one leg dragging as the other hobbled forward. He approached the red-faced man very unevenly.

The mask, made of simple metal, covered half the man’s face, so only his eyes were visible. This person was wearing a gray robe, without any combat suit or war armor.

This was also fairly common. After all, he was a Law of Matter Adept, so he could create an armor for himself out of anything. There was not much need for him to equip himself with war armor as that would not limit his movement.

“Xu Bien!” The red-faced man angrily bellowed the interloper’s name. The masked man nodded, not saying a word.

“Take them all and let me live!”

Xu Bien shook his head in response, appearing to be very calm and composed.

“Our two families have always been good friends after so many generations; is there a need to be so extreme? We formed a seven-man group, obtaining five identification plates. Adding everything, it will be a total of twelve plates! That’s enough for you to advance to the next cycle! It’s as the old adage says: ‘Leave a kindness and you’ll be repaid in turn!’ Your Xu family and our Han family are neighbors at the end of the day; my family will avenge me if you kill me today!”

The red-faced man with the surname of Han was like a beast trapped in a cage, his head of black hair in a state of wild dishevelment.

Unfortunately, this masked Xu Bien did not seem to have any intention of letting him off.

What shocked Xia Fei was learning that the red-faced man was originally a group of seven, but almost all had been killed off by Xu Bien! This was evidence of just how high the cultivation this person had.

What kind of person could pull off an impersonation like this, escaping even the eyes of Busey, one of Dragon Ascension’s Four Heavenly Kings?

There was no need for Xia Fei to continue watching this. His powerful analytic skills were telling him to escape as fast as he could, for this was a very big problem!

Silently leaving the tree, Xia Fei gave one final glance to that man who impersonated Xu Bien before exercising his Breath Control and quietly leaving.

It had just been a casual glance, but Xia Fei had remembered his truly unforgettable face!

He had high cheekbones and a set of thick and long eyebrows. He looked very much like he had been painted on an oil canvas, with his sunken cheeks and his sharpened teeth akin to the fangs of a beast!

There was a distinct line that started from his cheekbones. His forehead was no different from anyone else, though he had a deathly pallor. The bones beneath his skin, though, were completely grey, just like a corpse!

This was an unforgettable sight!

Frowning, the zombie-like Xu Bien muttered to himself, “There’s still another one? Interesting.”

Even though he was referring to Xia Fei, who had just fled, he did not turn his head in his direction. He merely lifted a wrist and made a seemingly casual movement.

“What did you say?” the red-faced man nervously asked. “Just who the heck are you? Where’s Xu Bien?”

The zombie chuckled darkly. “I heard that the Han family has a special technique that can allow its user to transform when in distress, increasing their combat strength significantly. I’ve been on your trail for such a long time; why haven’t you used it yet?”

The red-faced man took a step back, looking all solemn. “You’ve been chasing me this entire time, just to see my Han family’s Angry Arhat?!”

“That’s right.” The zombie-like man giggled darkly. Had Xia Fei remained to watch this, he would have discovered that this person’s white forehead was dyed! The color of his skin was actually pasty, like that of a dead person!

“Angry Arhat will diminish my life when used and can’t be used unless as a last resort!” the red-faced man yelled.

The zombie-like man reached out and pointed toward him. His finger was thin and long, extending almost twenty centimeters. It was as if there were five long knives fastened on his fingertips.

“I just want to see it; I’ll spare your life once I see it.” His voice was uncertain and cold, irresistible!

The red-faced man clenched his teeth. The injury on his leg was still throbbing pain, and the situation could not be any clearer. There was no way he had the strength to fight back.

“Are you for real?”

“For real.”

Hesitating for a moment, the red-faced man bellowed, “Angry Arhat! Han family’s ultimate—”

Before he even finished, right when he began activating his ultimate technique, Angry Arhat.

That zombie right across him revealed a cruel smile and pounced on him!

“Like real!”
