"Yes." Realising that someone had recognized him, Douglas's smile became even wider.
"Hiss!"
Douglas admitted that he was a member of the Soron family.
Everyone gasped.
The Soron family from the Ancient City of Oz was an extremely powerful family.
It was one of the top families in the entire Sacred Shield Empire.
"My third uncle used to work for the Soron family. Mr. Douglas, nice to see you here."
The student who asked the question said enthusiastically.
His expression was fawning.
Then, the students introduced themselves one by one. Soon, it was Karl's turn.
"Hello, everyone. I'm Karl Soro, a thunder mage. I am an intermediate stage two-star mage."
Karl said slowly.
Silence filled the air.
Everyone looked at him in disbelief.
"Intermediate stage… two-star?"
"I think so too. Even Douglas is only a beginner stage two-star mage."
"I think so too. Even Douglas is only an early two-star sorcerer."
"Yeah. There are so many people here, Karl might be nervous. It's possible that he made a mistake due to his nervousness.."
After a few seconds of silence, everyone started talking.
Many people were unable to believe Karl. They looked at Karl with questioning expressions.
They wanted to know if Karl had made a mistake.
"Karl did not make a mistake. He is an intermediate stage two-star sorcerer. You heard him right."
Elena could not help but speak up before Karl could say anything.
She reacted more strongly to Karl's words being questioned than she would have to hers being questioned.
"Gasp! My god! My supreme god! There's actually someone who's already an intermediate stage two-star mage?"
"Isn't this too much? How can he be so powerful?"
"That's impossible. I became a mage on the day I participated in the assessment ceremony. For so many days, I slept less than three hours every day and spent the rest of my time cultivating. Even so, I'm only an advanced stage one-star mage."

"Oh my god, I'm going crazy. We all have elite magical talents. Why is Karl so powerful?"
"Tears of envy are flowing from my eyes. I feel like I'm going to break through my defenses."
For a moment, everyone's expressions were complicated as they looked at Karl.
They were both envious and jealous.
Of course, there was also fear.
After all, everyone participated in the assessment ceremony on the same day. However, Karl's rank now was above everyone else's.
What did this mean?
This meant that his elite magical talent was much stronger than theirs.
Douglas looked at Karl.
How was that possible?
How could there be someone whose cultivation rank was higher than his?
Furthermore, it was the bastard standing beside Diana.
For a moment, Douglas looked angry.
In his wide sleeves, a pair of fists subconsciously clenched.
Even he was a little jealous of Karl's talent.
"Did Karl spend all his time on improving his rank and neglect his control over magic?"
A classmate could not help but speak. It was the classmate whose Third Uncle used to work for the Soron family.
His name was Tellista.
The moment he said this, all the students calmed down and heaved a sigh of relief.
After all, everyone had elite magical talent.
Why was Karl more powerful?
However, when they considered that Karl might have spent all his time improving his rank and neglected his control over magic, they felt better.
In that case, although Karl was still very strong, he was not ridiculously strong.
He had power but little control. People could accept that.
"Tellista has a point."
"I was wondering how someone could be so ridiculously powerful. It turns out it's because they spent all their time increasing only their rank."
"I see. I understand."

On the other side, Douglas' clenched fists loosened again when he heard Tellista's words.
A gentle smile returned to his face.
How could there be someone whose cultivation realm was higher than his?
It turned out that Karl had spent all his time on raising his cultivation level.
Douglas looked at Karl and said with a smile, "Although raising one's rank is the top priority for mages, Mr. Karl, that's not all."
"In the early stages of cultivation, one has to raise one's rank and at the same time improve one's control of magic. This is the best way to cultivate."
"You can't neglect your control over magic just because you're trying to improve your rank."
He spoke slowly with a hint of condescension in his tone.
Karl simply smiled and said nothing.
He felt that arguing with such a person made him seem uncivilised.
However, although Karl didn't say anything, Elena was unhappy.
Elena retorted, "Karl didn't spend all his time on improving his rank. His control over magic is already at the competent stage, and he already can do magic materialization!"
"What? Competent stage? Materialization?"
The crowd fell silent again.
Everyone looked at Karl in disbelief.
They could not be even more shocked.
Even the most talented Douglas could only compress his magic to the size of a fist.
There was still a long way to go before materialization.
But what about Karl?
Not only was he a two-star mage, his control over magic had reached the materialization stage!
Was he human or demon?
Why was he so powerful?
The people who had just heaved a sigh of relief now stared at Karl. They could not even bring themselves to feel jealous anymore.
People would only be jealous of those who were that little bit stronger than them.
Karl was on a whole different level.
As a result, they could not summon their feelings of jealousy at all. They could only look up to him from the bottom of their hearts.
"Erm…"
Douglas was still smiling even though he had been rendered temporarily speechless.
However, no matter how one looked at it, this smile seemed strange.
His face was distorted!
Deep in his heart, a strong sense of jealousy rose.
Especially when Diana was standing in front of Karl and smiling.
This scene was like a knife stabbing into his heart.
"Oh right, I heard that a new student beat up a few seniors in the cultivation room yesterday. Could this person be you?"
