After talking to the doctor, Selene and Renz had gloomy expressions on their faces. Renz was also shocked when he heard the current condition of Selene's grandmother.
The doctor told them that Grandma Elysa was already suffering from Stage 4 Breast Cancer. But he assured them that they would still run several tests to make sure.
He also suggested transferring Grandma Elysa to the biggest hospital in the City that specialized in cancer patient's treatment. He recommended the Yangche Medical Center.
Selene was already familiar with that hospital. In her previous life, Grandma Elysa was also admitted to Yangche Medical Center. That was also the place where Grandma Elysa passed away.
She thought she could handle this well since she already knew that this would still happen. But Selene was still as affected as before.
Selene was feeling weak and almost lost her balance as they stepped out of the doctor's office. Fortunately, Renz had caught her right away, steadying her footing.
Grandma Elysa was still asleep. They already transferred her to her private ward. Aunt Ling was with Grandma Elysa right now, watching over her.
Renz didn't know how he would comfort Selene. He knew how devastated she was after hearing the news about her grandmother's illness.
"Selene, don't lose hope. We will try our best and do all the means for Grandma Elysa to recover. We can also bring her to the States to receive her treatment," Renz started to talk to her.
"Nowadays, with the help of advanced medicines, there are lots of cancer patients survivors. Just be strong, Selene. For your grandma's sake," Renz softly said consoling her.
Selene just nodded her head. She knew her grandmother. If she wanted to be treated, she would have done this a long time ago when she was diagnosed with Stage 3 Breast Cancer.

But Grandma Elysa had already given up the treatment as she chose to be with Selene for the remaining days of her life.
Besides, Grandma Elysa thought that there was no hundred percent guarantee that her weak and frail body would survive and handle the heavy treatment.
She didn't want to spend most of her time in the hospital, just receiving treatment. All she wanted was to be with Selene and take care of her until she died.
Selene was her most precious granddaughter. It was so hard for her to leave her behind. She was always worried about Selene being left alone by herself so she wanted to make sure that she would settle down with Renz and build her own family.
With that, Grandma Elysa would be at peace once she left Selene in Renz's care. She knew that Renz's family would take good care of Selene, treating her as their own daughter.
After a few minutes of gathering her emotions, Selene asked Renz to go and see her grandmother in her private ward.
Renz just nodded in agreement. He held her hand as they walked towards the private ward of Grandma Elysa.
When they entered the ward, Grandma Elysa just woke up. Aunt Ling was helping her to sit up on her sickbed.
"Grandma!" Selene called her out as she dashed in her direction. Upon reaching her bed, Selene hugged her grandmother tightly.
There was a look of concern in her grandmother's eyes. Grandma Elysa could tell that Selene was now aware of her illness.
She thought she would be able to keep this for long but she was wrong. Selene and Renz were able to find out earlier than she had expected. She wondered how Selene was gonna take this.
As much as possible, she didn't want to be the source of her granddaughter's sadness. Now that Selene learned about her illness, she knew that her granddaughter would worry about her every day.

"Ling, can you go home first and bring some clothes here for me and my granddaughter?" Grandma Elysa requested Aunt Ling. She was planning to talk to Renz and Selene privately.
"Yes, Madam. I will leave for now."
"I can drive you back home, Aunt Ling," Renz volunteered but Grandma Elysa asked for his presence.
"Renz, can you stay? There is something I want to talk to you and Selene."
"Don't worry about me, young master, Renz. I will just grab some cab." Aunt Ling urged him to stay.
"Okay, grandma. Aunt Ling, take care on your way home," Renz responded to them.
When Aunt Ling left, Grandma Elysa asked Selene and Renz to come closer. They sat down on the side of her bed, holding Grandma Elysa's hands.
They were very silent, waiting for Grandma Elysa to speak up.
"I guess you both already heard about my condition," Grandma Elysa said with her weak voice.
Despite everything, she could still smile at them as if telling them that she was just fine and they didn't have to worry about her.
Selene and Renz just bobbed their heads as a response. They still looked gloomy and sad.
Grandma Elysa squeezed their hands and said, "Don't give me that kind of look, young ones. This old woman is a strong woman. I'm not yet dying. Why are you looking like that?"
"Hmm, this is the reason why I hide this from you. I don't want to see this kind of expression from the two of you."
Renz was dumbfounded because of Grandma Elysa's last remark. At that certain moment, he realized that Grandma Elysa intentionally hid her condition from them.
"Grandma. It's not yet too late. We can go to the States for your treatment," Renz suggested.
But Grandma Elysa just smiled faintly while shaking her head.
"Thank you, Renz. I appreciate your suggestion but I'm sorry I don't want to go to foreign countries just to receive treatment for my illness. I'm already old. I already live long enough. And I don't have any regrets."
"But don't misunderstand me. I'm not giving up on my life. I just want to stay here with my granddaughter. I don't want to waste my time in the hospital. I hope both of you will understand and respect my decision."
"But grandma…" Renz wanted to object but Selene cut him off immediately.
"Yes, grandma. I understand. We will follow what you wish and what you want."
Selene had already expected this to hear from Grandma Elysa. She didn't want to oppose her.
"Thank you, my dearest Selene. There is one more thing I want to request from both of you…"
