Into The Zombie World Chapter 85

As Maximo was the last to enter inside the room, he lightly kicked the door from behind to close it.
The room was messy, but it had ample space inside. There was a medium size bed in the centre of the room. Scattered on the floor are dirty pillows and blankets. The closet was wide open, and clothes were seeping out from the closet door. Whoever it was who lived here, they sure were quite in a hurry to leave.
Nile sauntered and sat at the medium size bed. He checked his Storage Space and realized that only eight coconut fruits were remaining. Nile can finish one while Maximo can devour four coconut fruits. After this dinner, only three coconut fruits would stay inside Nile's Storage Space. 'I think I need to search for food again.' Nile thought.
In truth, Nile does not need to look for food. There was plenty of it inside the System. Of course, Nile needs to pay for it. With Nile's current Apocalypse Point's, he does have the ability to buy one; it's just that he is unwilling to spend on something that he could obtain for free.
Besides those simple foods that only cost less than 5 Apocalypse Points, a standard meal from the System cost up to 40 Apocalypse Points or more. The Systems food also came with different kinds of effects that have a time limit. Using them outside of battle would be a wasteful move.
Although he could buy something cheap just like the coffee to live by the day, he thought that it would be detrimental for him in the long run. True he will not feel hungry because of the coffee's effect, but what would his body use to generate energy then? He couldn't just use his strength in exchange for nutrition, right?
Retrieving five coconut fruits from the Storage Space, Nile laid them on the floor and cut them in half one by one. Maximo's eyes formed a heart shape as he started to gobble them up like a hungry wolf.
Before he dug in, Nile took out the mutated fangs of the striped snake first. It would be rude if they were eating and Croco is not right?
Seeing the mutated fangs materialised out of thin air, Croco was visibly surprised. He closed in towards Nile and started to nudge his legs, while he looked at Nile expectantly.
Nile did not let Croco wait for long as he decided to place the mutated fangs on the ground. "There you go, Croc!"
Nile smiled and stroked Croco's forehead lovingly. Maximo stopped eating and approached Nile asking for a pat. Nile, of course, patted Maximo's forehead to satisfy the animal.

To be honest, Nile knew that he was a possessive person, at least a bit. It was already like this even when he was still in the previous world.
If someone is coveting his possession, then they should expect retaliation from Nile. May it in secret or open, Nile will do his best for revenge. Of course, most of the time, he will just bad mouth that person behind their back.
However, now that he has some strength, it will no longer result in something as low as a bad-mouth.
Seeing his two pets being comforted by his pat and caress, Nile could not help but nod and be satisfied with the sensation that he felt.
Nile took two slices of coconut fruit and drank its milk. He then started to eat its meat to satisfy his stomach. Maximo returned to his previous position and continued to eat his portion.
Croco lay on the ground as he gobbled the two mutated fangs. The sound of glass being broken leaks out from Croco's mouth. Nile could not tell how Croco and Maximo did it, but they seem to have a natural talent for devouring metallic things.
Nile, as usual, could only finish one portion of the coconut fruit while Maximo gobbled up the rest, including the coconut's hard shell. Croco was still munching the mutated fangs, but Nile guessed that he would also finish soon.
Nile assumes that Croco would also start to evolve after finishing the mutated fangs. Just like what had happened to Maximo when he evolved.
The night was still young. Nile had nothing to do, so he planned to browse through the System Store to search for some talents that he could buy.
However, (here we go again) Nile's plan was interrupted by a knock on the door.
Nile frowned and walked towards the door. His left hand reached for the doorknob while his right hand was gripping the Katana in his back.
Nile then opened the door slowly in alertness.
He doesn't know if it was the woman earlier or not. It's better to be cautious when dealing with the unknown.
Nile opened the door partially and took a peek at who it was.
It was the woman from earlier. Her right hand was clutching her wounded stomach. The woman's hair was messily flowing down her shoulder. When the woman saw Nile's eyes inside the door, she could not help but be taken aback.
'Why is he always angry?' The woman thought after seeing Nile's furrowed brows and squinting eyes.
Nile eyed the woman suspiciously. The door was still left partially open. He doesn't have the plan on opening it in whole if the woman does not state her business. "What do you want?"

The woman was still afraid of Nile. However, she had already calmed down a little, and after mulling it over, she thought that Nile was not that bad. She mustered her courage and said, "I...I think...Th...they're coming!".
Nile scrunched his brows further in confusion. 'Who?'
Nile then remembered the trio earlier, they were talking about their 'boss', so Nile concluded that it must be their pals.
Nile opened the door half-way and observed the room behind the woman. Nile then concluded that the room was clean of potential threat. After that, Nile stared at the woman. The woman did not dodge his gaze, but Nile could tell that she was afraid of him.
Nile nodded his head and decided to let the woman in. He wanted information about the 'boss', and the woman was the perfect person for that.
Nile's action flustered the woman. But because of the strength disparity between them, she could do nothing than to let her body be pulled inside by Nile.
Nile admitted that even though survivors are troublesome, they still have their own uses too.
Nile closed the door and let go of the woman's hand. He realised that he was forceful with that one, but he thought that it was alright. He stared at the woman and motioned for her to sit on the bed. "Speak, Who are they?"
The woman stared at the ground while she rubbed the hand that Nile forcefully held earlier, in the bed. "I don't know who exactly they are, but I do know that they are the lackeys of the Burno. He was considered as the boss in this Village."
As the woman did not look at Nile directly, she was able to stay composed and speak without stuttering.
Nile crossed his arms on his chest and said, "Continue!... And don't dare to lie in my face!"
The woman took a deep breath and confessed everything she knew after hearing the threat. "I heard that Bruno was the owner of the General Store in this Village. Previously, their base was also located at that store, but last week, they moved it towards the back of the Village..."
Nile listened carefully and will ask some questions from time to time. The woman answered his queries truthfully, the scene earlier was still fresh in her mind, so she does not dare to lie. Although her fear for Nile had already been reduced, she was still afraid.
She confessed that she originally came from the Town of Daan, but she decided to flee from there.
She arrived in this Village a week ago, the same time when Bruno's base was being relocated. She stated that it was alright at first, but she later realizes that Bruno was having scandalous thoughts about her. As she could not take Bruno's lascivious gaze anymore, she decided to flee. But Bruno discovers her plans and decides to constrain her inside the base.
She described Bruno as a bearded man who always wears sunglasses, even if it was dark. According to her, Bruno is as fat as a pig, but because he was already nearing Level Two°, many wanted to follow him voluntarily.
This afternoon, she finally found an opportunity and decided to escape, but before that, she decided to snatch one of Bruno's weapons, the dagger, for her little revenge. She was then caught in the act by the trio earlier, and while escaping, she was stabbed by the man holding the dagger, earlier.
Fortunately, she was able to slip from their grasp, and she then ended up here. It was at that moment that Nile suddenly arrived. She mistook him as someone from Bruno's group, so she planned on capturing Nile and taking him as a hostage so that those pursuing her would set her free.
Nile shook his head after hearing that. 'Making me as a hostage? Are you dreaming?'
She also confessed that she already decided to leave the house, but after recalling that it was already dark outside, she decided to return to the place and rest for the night. It was at that moment she noticed two men in the distance, seemingly searching for something. She was familiar with them as she saw them on Bruno's base before so she decided to report it to Nile. It was her way of apologizing and at the same time, taking advantage of Nile's strength, to kill those pursuing her.
She then expresses her gratitude to Nile for not killing her and for saving her from the trio earlier.
Nile waved his hand, indicating that it didn't matter.
While the woman was expressing her gratitude to Nile, saying that she will do whatever Nile wants, both of them suddenly heard movements outside the house.

A Spirit Vein's Guide to Immortality
TL;DR Synopsis: Man dies from falling banana, gets interrogated but answers vaguely, suffers consequences Actual synopsis: Spirit veins. Many consider them to be the pillar on which the world of cultivation is built. These things served as the foundation for the first few realms that would allow humanity to achieve its everlasting dream of immortality. However, in the present age, these pockets of condensed energy only exist to be under the foundations of massive organizations, fostering a new generation of fighters while passively radiating the energy they contain. Nevertheless, spirit veins are still an important element in the world of cultivation, albeit much less so. With that in mind, have you ever considered what it would be like for someone to turn into a spirit vein? No? Well, Arthur never thought about it either. Going through the usual reincarnation schtick (if one could consider it usual), Arthur was eventually brought into a place where a god asked him where he would like to be reborn. Unsurprisingly, Arthur told the god his ideal rebirth. However, soon enough, he would come to realize that he should have been more specific with it. Now being reborn as the smallest spirit vein, or if you could even consider him a spirit vein, Arthur wondered what he could do other than wait for time to consume him…and that’s where the system came in. With it, he would experience multiple stories of hardships, adventure, romance, and action…all underground. Unless…? Do keep in mind that English is not my first language, so I would like to apologize in advance if there are any grammatical errors, typos, miscalculations and so on. In fact, I'd highly appreciate it if you tell me those mistakes. Also, this story focuses quite a lot on the gradual progression of the MC at the beginning, but in the long run, upgrading sprees would probably be more common. Thanks for reading this small note!
