"Damn it…" Katrina cursed out loud as she gave chase to the zombie.
"Follow her… don't let that bitch escape?" She gave orders to the few Level One° survivors around her.
All of them are Level One°, it was no problem for them to jump off a two-story building. However, because some of them were injured, they didn't land beautifully on the ground.
Pieces of broken glass littered the ground but the Level Two° zombie had long escaped the vicinity.
"Follow me!..." Seeing the traces of blood on the ground, Katrina immediately dashed and traced the Level Two° zombie.
She was already close to killing that zombie. She can't let it escape.
Her subordinates got up from the fall and followed their team captain. Due to them being Level One° and injured, they couldn't help but lag behind Katrina who is sprinting to follow the zombie's trace.
"FUCK… WHO DARES?..."
The few Level One° survivors were forced to stop upon hearing the enraged shout. They were familiar with that voice, it's the voice of their captain Katrina.
They hurried towards her location and what they saw made them feel bitter and angry.
"Who did this?"
That was the question that keeps on echoing inside their minds.
In front of them, lying motionless on the ground was the body of the Level Two° zombie they were about to kill.
Brains and puddles of blood could be seen as half of the Level Two° zombie's head was pulverized by something.
They all stared at Katrina but immediately looked away after seeing her contorted face.
"WHAT!? YOU THINK IT'S ME?" Katrina pointed her dagger towards the man who was briefly eyeing her earlier.
"No. No, I didn't say that." The man backed away in fear.
"Miss Katrina, please lower your voice. Your shout earlier must have already attracted the zombie's attention, if we make more noise they might locate us easily." A clear-headed young male survivor said in worry.

"I…gulp* I think we should return?" Said a female with a nervous voice.
From the dozen survivors that came along, only five were left including Katrina. They are even injured and might not even win a fight against a Level One° zombie.
"Hmmph!" A harrumph escaped Katrina's mouth as she kneeled and searched for the Apocalypse Virus inside the zombie's head. "We will leave, but I must extract the Apocalypse Virus first."
So what if it's not me who killed it? The Apocalypse Virus is what really matters, not the kill.
However, she soon realized that something was amiss. Using the dagger, she searches the puddle around the zombie's head, but she still could not find any Apocalypse Virus around.
"What?... Where?"
Different from the slightly sticky and greenish Level One° Apocalypse Virus, the Level Two° Apocalypse Virus is more potent, hence it is more sticky and has a lighter shade of green compared to the greenish-black Level One°.
It should be easy to find considering that the puddles of blood had a different color compared to it. Yet, after searching for a few times, she still couldn't find any Apocalypse Virus around.
This could only mean one thing, the Apocalypse Virus was already harvested by someone else before them.
'Who could be that fast?' Katrina was bewildered and at the same time afraid.
Even the leader of the two factions couldn't kill the zombie and harvest the Apocalypse Virus that fast.
She wasn't able to kill the Level Two° zombie, she could not harvest the Apocalypse Virus, and even worse, she realized that a terrifying foe had just appeared around them.
"Run back to the base now…" She hurriedly said.

Katrina didn't even need to finish her speech as her remaining subordinates hurriedly ran back towards the base.

All the subordinates were relieved, heck, not to mention the fight inside the building earlier, just that shout from you earlier had clearly attracted one or two zombies around. It's good that you gave your permission, if not we would have surely left you behind.
Katrina stomped her feet in anger and dashed to follow her scampering subordinates.
Their operation had failed miserably. They lost human resources and couldn't obtain even a single Level One° Apocalypse Virus.
The only good thing that happened during this operation was the fact that they, the Pink Surge Faction, were able to know that.
At the Town of Daan,
A terrifying being was lurking in the dark, waiting to slaughter and harvest some zombie and human lives.
