Into The Zombie World Chapter 190

As the people around busy speculating about his strength, Croco had already closed in towards the person closest to him after deploying his blade arms and the spikes on his back.
Swoosh!
After his evolution, Croco's height and size had shrunk. Right now, his overall height was only below the man's chest. However, his legs had definitely become taller and more flexible.
Like a whip, his left arm traveled towards the man's neck.
The man had just woken up from his momentary daze when he noticed a glint moving towards him. He shivered in fright realizing that it was from the crocodile's blade.
His thought was then ended along with his throat getting sliced in half.
"Attack!" All the men around said in unison as they pounced towards Croco in the middle.
Meanwhile, at this point in time, the man who came along with Nile was already sweating bullets. His beggar clothes had already started to get wet from perspiration.
He realized that he had fucked up big time.
He slowly reached his hand on his back, trying to get the weapon he had hidden there. He planned on helping his struggling companions.
For fucks sake we only want the carabao, where did this crocodile come from?
Life in the town was really hard. A few days ago, there was a sudden influx of mutated animals passing by the town, they thought they would no longer have the problem of food supplies for a week. They didn't expect that the two factions would suddenly arrive, killing the animals for themselves, leaving nothing behind for them.
That's why each of them was tasked to go look for some stray animals around the town. They consist of 15 members in total. All of them are level one. But their circumstances were really difficult, they needed to avoid the hybrids, the two factions, and then the strong zombies just to survive.

At first, they considered joining one of the two factions, however, they were afraid of being killed by that level two human who stared daggers at them during the recruiting process.
They could not join the other gang either as that would mean they are offending the other. Hence they decided to survive on their own.
The two factions agreed but ever since then, their life had become miserable. They could no longer freely hunt zombies, the food in their surroundings was a sweep by the two factions, leaving them to barely survive by the day.
This morning, they're supposed to be leader voiced out his idea. They were supposed to scatter around and lay in ambush in case a stray animal would show up.
There are 7 of them tasked to go around while the remaining eight would stay at the school.
Their leader had also stated that if ever they saw a person who is not donning the two factions bandana while having enough goods, they should lead them to the school and rob the person of his belongings.
He did such a thing, he even spouted some lies just to lure the said person who doesn't have the two faction bandana with goods to the school.
It is just that they didn't expect that a crocodile would suddenly show up, killing some of their members in an instant.
"Don't think about it. Just stay there and watch the show!"
The beggar like the man was forced to halt on his track, hearing Nile speaking above Maximo.
He forgot that aside from the crocodile, they still have this unknown man and his carabao that they should deal with.
He gulped a mouthful of saliva as he realized how fucked they are right now. He suddenly recalled what this man had said earlier,

'Don't dig your own grave.'
His face contorted in fear. 'I'm sorry brothers, I can't help you all right now.'
'Do your best, okay?'
He could only support them in silence, as he was also fighting his own inner struggles.
He was rooted on the spot as he felt cold all over his body. He was eyed by Nile and he couldn't even move an inch due to the fright and pressure he was feeling. It's as if he was stared back by the cold abyss. He imagined that if he ever moved an inch, his head would definitely separate in an instant.
…
All this time, Nile was only observing the fight lazily. Before he instructed Croco, he had already inspected each one of them. He deemed that Croco could deal with them just fine, and if he could not, it wouldn't be too late for him to butt in as he was just literally a few meters away from their small battlefield.
The reason he let Croco deal with them was that he wanted for him to get used to his strength soon.
He coldly watched as Croco slowly plucked the men's life one after the other.
The man beside him could only watch his companions getting butchered one after another. He could not even speak a word and could watch in silence.
Even before they arrived at the school, Nile already knew what the man was up to. His guard was up from the start.
Although he did suspect it from the start, he started to believe it slowly. However, his facade was revealed when he started his story.
His daughter went to school before the sudden apocalypse? What a blatant lie.
It must be noted that before the apocalypse, the government had issued a community lockdown. Only those who were working and those who have something to do can go outside their house.
To take the second medicine, they were only supposed to go towards the Village Hall or the Town Hall. If they couldn't, then the officials should find a way to distribute it to the villagers or townsfolk, it is for everyone's 'cure' after all.
If the man didn't spout some nonsense, then he might still have a chance on fooling Nile. Nevertheless, he was always on guard, so he thought that he would still be able to react in time if ever something happens.
'You think I'm a fool? Tsk!' He said inside his mind proudly.

The Kodoku Game
In Japanese folklore, there once existed an ancient technique among alchemists for harvesting the strongest poison known to man. A poison so vicious, so horrendous, that a single drop could incapacitate an entire nation of humans, several times over. A poison so intense that a single drop could turn the tides of a war on its head. As potent as it appeared however, this poison could be harvested from the blood of a single insect alone- an insect the alchemist’s called the ‘Kodoku’. As lucrative as was attaining this poison however, the problem lied in identifying this insect- its appearance, shape and size changed from region to region and from continent to continent. Sometimes it took the appearance of a ladybug and other times a horned-beetle. In order to determine the identity of this special insect the alchemists came up with an ingenious method. They created an impregnable jar of clay out of the best sandstone they could find and placed hundreds of different insects into the same jar. The jar was made with such great mastery that it allowed no insects to escape and allowed no objects to enter. The laws of nature dictated that the insects would remain together in the jar forever. However, it turned out that as time went on, the insects’ hunger for food and power caused them to turn against each other- one insect ate another until only one remained. This sole insect contained a poison that far surpassed that of all the others and became stronger as it ate more and more insects. The alchemists at this point had succeeded in identifying the Kodoku and could extract it’s poison as long as they continued to feed it regularly. Although this folklore ends here, the actual story does not. One day, as the alchemists cheered in joy of having identified the Kodoku they so eagerly wanted, they forgot to close the lid on the very jar that was considered to be completely impregnable. This small gap was just large enough for the Kodoku inside to crawl out. Famished from not having been fed for weeks, the Kodoku ended up eating the very alchemists that nourished its growth until not even the bones remained. Yet, the Kodoku’s hunger didn’t seem to subside in the slightest. So it traveled to the next village and began eating whatever it could find there. Its poison made it unparalleled in strength and slowly but surely it began to dwindle down the population of the entire city. Yet its hunger only continued to grow. So it traveled to the next city over and ate all it could there. Very soon, the Kodoku couldn’t find any more food to eat. There was no one left to eat and no one left to spectate. So it stood there, by itself pondering what possibly was left to eat that could satiate its hunger. But there was one thing left that Kodoku realized it had never eaten. Itself.
