Into The Zombie World Chapter 226

In the town of Daan, there was a huge sewer system that was connected to all directions.
It follows along with the shape of the town before interconnecting in the middle.
However, only a select few knew of its existence.
The town of Daan was not a town that often gets flooded. Even for those who knew of the sewer system, only a handful knew of the real reason why it was made.
The sewer system could only be accessed on certain locations. The Town Hall was one of such locations.
Near the center of the town of Daan.
At the moment, the leader of Blue Wave Faction was staring at a huge and ancient-looking church.
The church was already wrecked and smoke was even fuming from behind the building.
The Blue Wave faction leader stopped staring at it and went inside the church with great familiarity.
After a few turns, the leader arrived at the door of the confession chamber.
The leader hesitated for a moment before kicking the wooden door that leads to the priest's side.
Inside of it, the leader touched a candle holder and after twisting it counterclockwise for two whole turns, a sudden click could be heard as a partition appeared on the wall beside it.
The leader pushed the partition slowly with great strength. The partition slowly retreated to the side until an opening the size of an adult person appeared.
The leader took the candle holder and replaced the burnt-out candle with a new one that came from the bag on the leader's shoulder.
The leader then lit it up before entering the opening.
As the leader entered, a line of stairs appeared that was heading underground. With the candlelight and the fact that the leader was already a level two being, seeing clearly in such dark places was not a problem.

However, seeing how far was the real problem. As even with all of that, the leader could only see a few meters clearly without a problem.
The leader followed the descending stairs and as time passed by the leader felt the atmosphere turn more humid and humid.
When the line of stairs stopped, the leader arrived at a huge space underground. There was a little water flowing on the ground like a small river but it didn't cost much sound.
After a few twists and turns the leader stopped on another huge opening. The leader entered into it and after lighting up the whole room with a candle, the leader noticed that it was empty and devoid of any beings aside from spider webs and some small mutated rats.
The leader didn't waste 'their' time on such lowly rats as 'they' left the room before walking again inside the sewer system.
This scenario repeated for a few more times. The leader was searching for something in those empty rooms but with no result.
"Just where are you?..." The leader uttered in disappointment as they again left to another room empty handed.
The leader only stopped for a few minutes to grab a bite before continuing with their search.
After another hour, the leader arrived near the end of this sewer system.
The surroundings were dark and murky. Even no visible corpse could be seen, the leader's nose was still assaulted by such a smell.
It was fortunate that the leader always brought an extra candle with them, or else, they would only be able to rely on their strong senses around here without one.
As the leader swayed the candle towards the last room, the leader could not help but feel dejected upon seeing how empty it was.

As the leader was about to turn around and leave, they suddenly heard a loud creaking noise in the distance.
As the leader turned the candle to that area, they suddenly saw a person with its back facing them.
The leader got curious and as they were about to ask the person on why they were here, the said person suddenly turned around and the leader's skin suddenly turned cold.
A hideous-looking face with rotten bones surfacing on their face presented itself in the leader's eyes. One of its eye sockets was already empty and half of its cheek had its skin peeled off.
The leader felt electric currents run through the surface of their skin as the leader instantly yelled, "Zombie!"
The leader took out the long sword tied to their waste immediately as they prepared for a fight.
The zombie also noticed the leader and without pretense, it immediately pounced to the leader as if it were a hungry wolf.
The zombie had long boney arms and sharp knife fingers.
At first, the leader thought it was only a level one zombie that got lost here. However, after looking at those arms, the leader immediately realized that it was already a level two zombie and with a mutation at that.
The leader didn't dare to let down their guard as they dropped the candle holder to the ground and held the sword with two arms.
The sounds of metal clashing metal echoed on the empty and dark room as the leader's sword and the zombie's mutated boney arms clashed with each other.
In every clash, the leader would always feel a tremor in 'their' arms. A clear sign of their strength difference.
The zombie dominated the fight but the leader was not someone who would let the current situation continue.
As they were exchanging strikes, the leader suddenly changed tactics and instead of parrying the attack, the leader decided to confront it head on.
The zombie's sharp arm was heading towards the leader's chest and as if the zombie could see the end of the leader, it suddenly produced a human-like smirk.
However, when the zombie's arm arrived on the leader's chest, it was confused as it didn't feel the feeling of flesh getting cut.
Instead, a metallic sound of metal clashing metal was what echoed followed by a sharp 'shrek' sound.
