The Rise of the White Lotus Chapter 11 – you're an odd one, aren't you?

“So, Mr. Lu, I supposed you didn’t invite me to just eat, right?” Lexi spoke after wiping the corners of her lips in a very delicate manner with her own handkerchief. She then raised her sharp eyes to meet his tantalizing gaze.

Ethan Lu’s bewitching smile spread across his face as he props the back of his hand on his jaw, “Right, about arranging a meeting with Mr. Tanaka — I’m interested. In exchange, I’ll invest in your company because I’m not certain if I can convince Morris about your enmity.”

Lexi contemplated for a while as her gaze turned stern as if examining thoroughly what was Ethan Lu’s intention, “How about Bro– CEO Liu? Aren’t you afraid you’ll breach your business deals with him if you help me?”

Ethan Lu’s smile brightens even more which made him more dashing and amiable. He was somewhat impressed by Lexi’s inquiry. To him, under her circumstances, she’ll immediately agree without batting an eye. After all, she must be desperate for an investor especially someone like him.

“Are you perhaps worried about me?”

“Huh, Mr. Lu, Don’t take it in the wrong way. I am not worried about anyone aside from my dying company that my ancestor built with their blood and tears but, I wanted to make sure if you will keep your words.” Lexi bluntly stated. Though it might seem rude to say such an honest thing specifically doubting a man like Ethan Lu. However, Lexi was a prudent person. Hence, stating what complicates her is her best bet.

“Ms. Yang, you’re impressive. I might have a very… complicated reputation but, rest assured that your best bet is me.” Ethan Lu’s smile was still intact, yet, his voice had a touch of authority and certainty which indicates that he was serious about this deal.

Staring at each other for a while, Lexi slightly nods in acknowledgment. “Thank you for the meal, Mr. Lu. I truly appreciate your kind thought in taking me here. I will contact you if the arrangement is complete.” with that said note, Lexi slowly stood from her seat, then marginally bowed her head before taking her leave.

Watching her petite retreating back, Ethan Lu taps his finger on the table while his other one is still propped on his jaw. No one knows what he was thinking but, his bright eyes were clearly screaming in interest towards the ex-fiance of his friend.

Surely, Ethan’s impression of Lexi wasn’t as bad as everyone else. After all the scene he witnessed earlier and their short meal together, Ethan Lu was rather curious about why Lexi, as sophisticated and clever as herself would be regarded as a naive, vicious, and heedless woman.

“My, Lexi Yang… you’re an odd one, aren’t you?” He mumbles as Lexi exited the premises without giving him a second glance.

Lexi slightly raised her head as if looking at the notification about her progress in her initial task.

“Wow, chu~!” Churu exclaimed looking giddy about Lexi’s progress for the day. “You are amazing, chu~!” she added as Churu flew in front of Lexi.

Lexi, on the other hand, retracted her gaze on the notification above her after taking just a glimpse of it. She then resumed taking strides towards her luxury ride. ‘What’s so good at gaining small points.’ she stated inwardly, certain that Churu can hear her inner thoughts.

“But it just means you’re progressing, chu~!” Churu justified her jubilation.

“Whatever…” Lexi rolls her eyes before hitching on the driver’s seat, ready to leave. “What I needed is to make an arrangement with Mr. Tanaka — let’s see how many points I gained. I’ll probably make Mr. initial task fall for me.”

“That’s very unlikely, chu~!”

“Just wait and see.” Lexi sassed before scooting away from the parking space.

3 days have passed since Lexi’s encounter with Morris and Ethan. For the past days, she occupied herself in researching about the L-tech innovative financing company. To her surprise, the said company was only established for a few years and can be considered a new company. However, what’s mind-boggling is that it rose and was continued expanding through the years — making it on par with all the leading company in the whole business industry.

Though there are no pictures of Wren Tanaka; the person behind the success of the said company, Lexi had her ways in recognizing him if she only sees a glimpse of him. Though L-tech innovative was an international empire, it was now remarkably ranking in the whole country x as they established their oriental branch a month ago.

Sighing her frustration, Lexi Yang leaned her back against the elegant headboard of her bed while her laptop was placed on her lap. Churu, on the other hand, was lying lazily beside her.

“why, chu?~” Churu inquired sensing her exasperation.

“Mr. Tanaka seems not as simple as I think he was.” Lexi murmurs as she closed her eyes, thinking of possible ways to attract Wren Tanaka with her arrangement. Surely, since the business tycoon; Wren Tanaka is selling hot in the industry and many wants to curry favor with him — how can Lexi even compete with other company that can give a much great deal than her?
