The Rise of the White Lotus Chapter 219 – Number One Fan

Days had passed and finally, it was the day of the premiere of the movie Lexi and the whole talented, hard-working individuals had worked on for months.

Lexi stayed at Ethan Lu’s place for a total of four days and within those four days, he treated her as if she was a newborn baby, that alone actually slightly annoyed and moved her at the same time. He forbid her to move around and stay in bed afraid that her fever would come back. He obstructed his work every thirty minutes to check on her and that alone made it so that he had to work overtime. Hence, Lexi got tired of being a pampered, useless princess.

Although she liked being spoiled, Lexi argued with her subconscious mind regarding her fakery and shamelessness while she clearly knew that Ethan Lu was buried with business-related work. Yet, she still depended on him with her meals, snacks and even her bath! How shameless!

In the end, her independent personality won over her shamelessness and decided to get up from being a bedridden young woman.

“So, Eli will be your escort?” Looking at Lexi through the whole body mirror inside her walk-in closet, Churu inquired as she also tried each dress Lexi made for her to wear for tonight.

Well, even though no one could see her, she still wanted to doll up just because she could. Also, she didn’t need others’ approval to make herself look good— even if it was the absolute One.

“No, I will walk alone— no escort,” Lexi stated as she altered two dresses that Abigail Fan sent her for tonight’s event. One was a black, off the shoulder neckline, mermaid gown while the other one was a gold sequins trumpet, mermaid floor-length and long scoop neck, short sleeve and backless. However, part of her was dissatisfied with these gorgeous dresses.

If it was before, Lexi would undoubtedly wear any of these two without a second thought. But now, after being away from the limelight and laying low after her scandal— Lexi was quite nervous to face such crowd again. Hence, the dilemma to give them a good impression.

“Don’t be nervous, you don’t have to care about everything that people say— the movie will be your voice. It will showcase your talent that will make everyone speechless, trust me!” Sensing her anxious heart, Churu raised her gaze and the corner of her mouth curled into a reassuring smile.

Looking back at Churu through the mirror who was also holding a dress in front of her, Lexi’s eyes softened. Her racing heart slowed down and eventually returned to its normal beat. “Sissy, you sound nicer lately— did you do something wrong?” Lexi humored as she playfully narrowed her eyes.

“I’m always nice~ and prettier~!”

“That last part didn’t have any connections with you being nice.” Shaking her head, Lexi teased with a giggle. Just then, a light knock came that made Lexi turned her head to the entrance of her walk-in closet.

“Young Miss, Young Master Lu sent these for you.” One of their maids brought a bouquet of red roses and a large box. She courtly intruded inside and placed the stuff that Ethan Lu sent her to the two-seater pink couch inside.

“Thank you,” Lexi slightly nodded and the maid politely bowed as well before she left without a word. Lexi then carefully hung the gowns before she went to see Ethan Lu’s gifts for her.

Picking up the bouquet of fresh red mixed with white roses, Lexi bit her lower lip to restrain herself from smiling like a fool. Seeing a small card in it, she immediately read its short content. It says:

“Congratulations, My Love

From your number 1 fan,

Ethan Lu “

“Tch~,” The curl on her lips marginally widened as Ethan Lu’s short yet effectively encouraging words instantly embraced her heart and filled it with warmth.

“Such a sweet fan I have.” She softly whispered before she sniffed the flowers in her hand. Lexi then shifted her gaze towards the white box and her brows raised. Slowly, she took slow strides towards it and put down the roses beside it.

Opening her lover’s other gift, she hummed a questioning tone as her eyes were laid on the plain wine red, modern qipao cheongsam dress. Clipping the shoulder blades part, she raised it and revealed its length and its lace details.

The moment Lexi saw its whole picture, Lexi instantly fell in love with it and that very second, she decided what to wear for tonight’s event. The dress was simple and elegant. Aside from its little details, it could not be on par with the grace of the two gowns that Abigail Fan sent her. However, the one that Ethan Lu sent her though seemingly reserved, the wide slit daringly contrasted the demureness of the upper part of the dress.

Just like Lexi and the role she portrayed, Chang’e, they both were modest and daring at the same time. Moreover, Ethan Lu might have thought about her role and picked up a modernized traditional dress for their premiere night.

“Ethan Lu is indeed a keeper.” Scanning the plain-looking dress, Churu commented as her eyes gleamed. Unlike the two gorgeous dresses that Lexi gravitated on which is which, those two would either make her look coquettish or timid that didn’t match her personality. Hence, imagining Lexi with this new option, Churu could visualize Lexi wearing it and could stretch this austere dress in its maximum potential.

“He is.” Agreeing, Lexi chuckled as she could not believe that Ethan Lu would still bother to look for a dress for her tonight— she loved it! Suddenly, another small card was caught from the corner of her eyes inside the box where the dress came from.

Lexi carefully held onto the dress and strode towards the pink couch where the box was placed. Reading its content, her already smiling lips reach from ear to ear. It says:

“Thought you might need an additional option for tonight’s event *wink*

From your lover,

Ethan Lu

“This guy really…” Lexi let out another faint giggle as she read the content of the card again. The indescribable happiness he gave her was nothing she could have ever dreamed for.
