The Rise of the White Lotus Chapter 314 – Girl on fire

Lexi headed into the function hall with Nico Zhuang following behind her. Alas, the more she drew closer to the said area, the more Nico Zhuang’s presence also lessened until she reached the main hall and the said man was completely gone from behind her without a trace. Still, it was not enough to faze her.

“Thank you,” Through a whisper, Lexi mouthed. Whether he could hear her or not, Lexi knew inside her heart, he did… from afar, he did. After all, even before everyone could realize it, Nico Zhuang had been a great ally especially in times that she needed him the most: for example, the thorough guide of the Lu family system and traditions.

Pushing the two doors, they slowly opened and revealed a sparkling, nobility type of atmosphere inside the function hall. It was twice or maybe thrice more elegant than she would usually attend in the past. Keeping her chin up, Lexi slowly made her entrance and discreetly scanned the surroundings to see if she knew some familiar faces.

At the same time, the people near the door unconsciously turned their heads to its direction. The moment they saw the woman, in a sparkling red, off shoulder evening dress, her eyes were as just fiery like the color of her dress— they were unconsciously in a daze especially men who see her as if she was walking in blazing flames with her dress.

“Beautiful…” One young master from a prominent family murmured in awe as he was enthralled by the goddess of fire before his very eyes.

“Why does she look familiar?”

“Uh, Lexi, Lexi Yang— that’s her name. She’s a celebrity.”

“Wow… she looks a hundred times more beautiful than onscreen.”

“Humph! Why are you also looking at her? What? Do you like her?”

One after another, loud thoughts escaped the people’s mouths as they could not help but admire the bewitching woman who just made the night even more thrilling with just her presence. Women who had their date’s eyes glued on Lexi were displeased for stealing all the lights of the event while men who were particularly dateless tonight were excited to approach her.

Understandably, after all, aside from being noticed from the new head of the family and made a proper acquaintance of Ethan Lu, the level of fun from flirting with other young misses around reduced because of the so-called game of the future madam Lu that could be chosen tonight. Hence, the moment she saw who was the woman that stole the spotlight tonight with just her simple yet elegant entrance— like a Queen entering her kingdom— Evelyn Lu had the most stunned expression among all. She blinked a couple of times to see if she was seeing clearly enough and after wiping her eyes, her jaw dropped.

To her, this has to probably be the best thing in this event, despite the fact that Elliot Gong wasn’t around. At least, one of her idols was there, as if a girl on fire ready to lead her legion of army to battle.

“Lexi~!!” Without thinking of her status or proper etiquette, Evelyn Lu dashed towards Lexi that made her brows raise up a little.

“Oh my god… it’s really you…!” Upon closer look, the corner of the cute lolita’s eye formed a tear of joy as she could not believe Lexi was right in front of her. “So pretty…~” Covering her mouth with her hand, Evelyn Lu almost fainted but because of her will power to spend as much time as possible with Lexi— even if Lexi wouldn’t talk to her— she wanted to watch her or follow her like the loyal and creepy fan that she was.

“Hi,” Momentarily examining her face, Lexi subtly smiled as she felt that this seemingly excited fan of hers showed genuineness. After all, she was a pro in acting hence, she knew if its real or fake.

Alas, instead of a reply to her, Evelyn Lu gasped as the formed tear fell down from the side of her eyes.

“Uh… are you alright…?” Lexi marginally raised her brows as an awkward smile grew on her lips. Still, the only response she got was a profuse set of nodding from her.

“Oh…” Slowly nodding her head in understanding, Lexi was somewhat put in an awkward situation as she didn’t know how to comfort the small woman. After all, it seemed that whatever Lexi would do or say that involved her, Evelyn Lu would be even more starstruck.

“Woah! Girl on fire!” On the side, Elliot Gong’s familiar voice reached Lexi’s ear which made her turn her head to his direction.

Seeing the very first familiar face around, Lexi subtly smiled as she faintly heave a sigh of relief. Well, it appeared that Ethan Lu was doing something important at the moment and Lyrick Jiang wasn’t around as well.

“Eli, I thought you wouldn’t come?” Humoring Elliot Gong, Lexi said as she recalled that Ethan Lu was complaining like a child for his friend, Elliot Gong for being too sensitive about his ‘jokes’.

“Surprised?” Grinning from ear to ear, Elliot Gong humored which only made Lexi to roll her eyes.

Little did the two know, Evelyn Lu was in cloud nine because not just Lexi, but also Elliot Gong was in front of her! Not just that, to her or to what she believed, they coincidentally came at the same time! Therefore, everyone could imagine how momentarily distraught she was as she could only alter her gaze from Lexi to Elliot Gong.
